Smart move if he did. I saw Mago playing Cammy the other day on a replay also. Why not I say… Bonchan’s been rubbing against the grain in this game for 3 years.
If you can’t beat em… join em. Hopefully when the next Evo has 9 Cammy’s and 4 Akuma’s in the top 10 Capcom might give us another version…
hahaha I’m not even asking for vanilla sagat back, just some small buffs since the Super nerf bat beating, st lk? better knee damage/frame advantage?

There’s not going to be 4 akumas in top 10.The character has an extremely high difficulty level to get that far . Whereas cammy is easy mode. To win with akuma your footsie/zoning/vortex/frametrap game all have to be on point. Akuma is Top tier but not cheap and brainless. You have to be on point hard with him even os-ing a lot.
Tbh i doubt bonchan wont stick with sagat , it’s highly likely he’s doing what i’ve also been trying to do and thats have a strong pocket character for sagats bad matchups which are plentiful lol. Akuma is also my secondary choice he covers the matchups sagat struggles with apart from seth but seth v akuma i think is who ever knocks down first and its gg.
in before the boards go down lol 2 quick questions:
#1. Any advice on practicing proper spacing? I’ve come to the conclusion that my spacing needs work, wanted to know if anyone had any techniques they used for sagat-specific spacing training, or do you just intentionally use your normals and try and learn from your mistakes?
#2. another criticism I’ve gotten is that my footsies are weak. I see decent success in my rushdown/knock down game, and do ok with zoning, but with a character with such awful foot speed, slow dashes, and reasonably weak normals compared to the footsie/frame trap monsters of the cast, I don’t even really know what footsies with sagat should look like.
Any thoughts?
I was wondering if there are any certain patterns you guys setup with the tiger shots in different situations.
I feel as if you could set up different patterns with TS’s based on the situation.
Patterns that’ll really get to an opponent almost as if a complete trap formed of fireballs.
Like say you’re about 3/4s or fullscreen away from the opponent, does anyone have any fireball patterns that completely ruin an opponent’s will to move? Because if they do they’ll just end up hit. TS patterns that completely stress an opponent out leaving them mashing their sticks hoping for the slightest chance they might have for a breath of fresh air.
Does anyone have anything like this? I bet these patterns exist. Please share if you have one (or a few).
Might get slated for this here but I think Hakan could possibly be a slightly bad match for Sagat.
We can’t control the match at all. An oiled up Hakan can dart around the screen at will and also punish shots on reaction for a KD into safe jump into mix up.
I played a guy tonight in about 7 matches and tried multiple techniques, I still won but I felt like it was Hakans for the taking…
Hakan is crazy, oiled with meter any shot is instant slide. That crap is like pure fast moving hitbox.
ugh, crouch teching with the king is hard. he’s actually the first character i ever used that doesn’t have a 3 frame crouch tech, and it’s very noticeable. i get thrown a LOT more often. is it advisable to just stop crouch teching and go for standing tech whenever i feel the throw’s coming?<div><br></div><div>also, how do safe tiger knees work? what exactly makes them safe?</div>
I have a question. Lets say sagat vs ryu. Im like mid screen from ryu and i know ryu is gonna throw a fireball. I jump where HK will miss, but HP will hit. What can i do after my (far reaching) j.hp hit?
kara tu
I always argue with people that the 3 main shotos(Ken, Ryu, Akuma) all beat Sagat. They for the most part believe that Akuma beats Sagat, but so many of them think Sagat vs Ryu/Ken is 5-5. Especially Ryu and Ken mains…
How the heck(fuck) can the match up be 5-5? Ryu and Ken have far better normals than Sagat(although his are fine overall), and they can blow Sagat up in the footsie game without Sagat’s st.lk. They do more damage than him, and they get far more consistent damage than Sagat. They have 101 ways around his FB zoning, and FB’s are generally ASS in this version of the game, even players like Daigo think so and he’s the FB king.
However, what sets the match the furthest apart from being 5-5 is the safe jumps. How many characters in the caste can Safe jump Sagat at will? Now I’m not complaining that, because Sagat has an invincible reversal so cheers…BUT it’s just useless against the Shoto’s. Ryu and Ken have safe jump set ups on Sagat from sweeps, dps, throws, trades, juggles etc. That makes the match up the furthest thing from fair IMHO. Safe jumps in this game are so OP because not only are they true 50/50’s(sometimes 66/33’s with OS’) they lead to another 50/50 that if guessed wrong sets you up again… All that damage adds up, because both Ryu and Ken hit harder than Sagat in the grand scheme of things.
I wish players could be like Michael Tan, and just admit that the Shoto’s butt rape sagat. He believes Ken Sagat is 7-3 at the highest level lol.
5-5 shoots self in the face
Tell Capcom what balance changes you would like to see for characters since AE is getting updated again! http://www.capcom-unity.com/street_fighter/go/forum/view/7411/241285/sf-character-balance-suggestions
Post on capcom unity ASAP Copy this if you’re unsure, some sagat players on that site are posting the dumbest buffs
PLEASE don’t listen to these guys that JUST want the U1 in corner fixed.
PLEASE give Sagat his St.lk back from Vanilla. The reason why, he can actually be able to stand his ground against rushdown characters and not have to move back giving them too much respect. St.lk Vanilla allows sagat to do much better in some of his worst match-ups
PLEASE make his low Tiger shot the same way it was in Vanilla, minus the Juggle. That one less frame of recovery would do wonders for Sagat.
Make is Tiger uppercut a bit stronger, damage from 120 to 140.
That’s all he needs, promise!
hello, i’m collecting kara throw data for all of AE 2012’s characters, i don’t know how much of the information here is outdated, so i wanted to ask: what’s sagat’s best kara throw?
all of the data will be compiled into a list including normal throw ranges, added ranges and kara throw ranges.
yo quick question: is online sagat impossible to play? I’ve been practicing the cr. lk x2, cr. lp xx tu a million times, can get 10 in an row each side, even have been pulling it off locally in off line sessions (and got complimented by another player), yet I drop the links 2/3rds of the time when playing xbox live.
are 2f links not friends with online play?
Online is shit for Sagat. Offline I can get TS timing down where I can TU if someone jumps over, I can rarely do that shit online(lol).
I’d recommend plinking that cr.lk with cr.lp because it works as an option select as well, so if your cr.lk doesn’t hit a cr.lp still will.
no normals that add ANY distance? (doesn’t have to be noticeable, just existant)
F.HK adds like 2 pixels I think? Nobody uses it because it’s not useful. You can test it in training if you like but it’s not something Sagat players would use.
