The best option from a FADC without Ultra is forward roundhouse (which also connects to ultra), although characters fall at different speeds so you need to practice in the training room, or use your judgement on the fly.
Not a fan of the double df shortcut’s I’m afraid, you’ll get bad habits. I’m not sure if you know about the wiggle DP? On a cross up situation, wiggle the gate between each bottom diagonal on the gate and press punch, It’ll auto correct your DP. Just press make sure you press the punch late.
It’s in John Choi’s section, but I suggest you read all of this article. My apologies if you are a seasoned player and know all this, I don’t hang out on the Gat boards very often.
Great read on that article, thanks for the link. I’m garbage so any tips improve my game drastically. I’ll have to try out the wiggle, it sounds good on paper but I’ll have to see how it feels. Down to Downforward will be alot easier then df>df cleanly.
So after FADC, without Ultra, go with forward roundhouse always? Not even TK will connect?
TK connects, but damage wise and for ease forward roundhouse is better. Certain characters I’ll go straight to Ultra (because of the fall animations), like boxer. If you catch an opponent at the peak of their jump with forward roundhouse, you can do another forward roundhouse, into Ultra (looks bad ass…;))
Outside of Tiger Knee’s, the only one I really use is cr-lk then cr-mp. Someone can chirp in with some more.
Cr lk, cr mp, cr lp xx lk tk gives proper spacing on all crouching opponents
Cr lk, hk xx lk tk has to be performed point blank, bus is pretty effective and has proper spacing
Why do people pick ultra 2 on Sagat? Watching some of the evo footage with the few Sagat players in it they always seem to pick it, but allmost never use it or fail when using it.
How or when are they supposed to use it? Since I am watching top Sagat players it seems odd they would pick an ultra to counter a situation that never will happen.
Basically. It’s main uses are vs other fb chars so you can get free revenge meter by FADCing through projectiles. Then you just use it to blow through their projectile at mid range or use it off an EX shot at far range. Or use it to punish stuff like vs Blanka.
Hi, new SF player, got SSF4 today, its my first SF game - decided to learn Sagat. Just started reading through the matchups and it talks about ‘no answer for tiger knee’ in several places.
Could somebody give me a full explanation as to why this move is so good? Edit
And no, I’m not trolling, I’m just a newbie.
If properly spaced, it can’t be punished. If improperly spaced, there are very few moves that aren’t slow enough to punish. Basically you want to hit it at its furthest distance.
I was thinking about putting together video of it, but I don’t have the best recording equipment. If you search, there is an old and buried thread with a hand full of them in there.
I really gotta hand it to you guys, sticking with Sagat all this way. I gave up using him after Vanilla because he just felt so out of place and hard to use Yeah, I’m one of the many that dropped him in super (ashamed to admit but oh well) and started going back to Ken again, Thinking about picking up Akuma too.
