do you have to use KiKu’s method for it? where you have to do it as the tiger shot disappears.
@Kiku you can use the second method, its quite easy.
st.hp and cr.hp how good are they as pokes, im liking em, and they push back nicely. Any counter hit set ups that allow me to link into other shenanigans?
Another question, for some reason when I attempt to use EX Tiger Uppercut to FADC, sometimes it cancels into Tiger Genocide.
I use D-Pad and just switched RT for faster input Focus Attack, if that helps anyone answer my question.
That can ONLY happen in training mode… and it means that you are inputing the medium kick of the focus attack slightly before the punch so it is reading a super motion and a kick. Try to not mash out you tiger uppercuts, and work on hitting both medium attacks at the exact same time.
when doing tu to fadc ultra1 do you use light medium or hard punch? and i usally dash back fwd hard kick to ultra is this the correct way? and how to make cr.lk more accurate if i do it to fast doesnt come out right or to slow wtf? and what good for when u get up i want to avoid throws and focus attacks thank you.
I didn’t think you could do TU FADC backwards -> f.hk -> ultra unless it was a counterhit TU. I’ve never seen a Sagat player do that, I always see them forward dash. Always use hp TU in combos because if you have Angry Scar it does more damage and it has more range than lp or mp. If you get a counterhit TU and you want to combo into ultra off TU FADC forwards you have to drop the f.hk and go straight to ultra.
cr.lk -> cr.lk -> cr.lp is a combo with 2 links. The only cancel is cr.lp xx hp TU/mk TK.
Basically just practice it. A lot.
Blocking & teching throws, reversal uppercut, wakeup backdash. Blocking is best. If they try to do meaty focus attack you kinda have to guess unless they’re trying to do meaty level 3. If they try that shit wakeup TU/ultra.
Sorry for a question that’s probably really simple and over asked. But I’m in a hurry before class and couldn’t find an obvious answer while briefly digging around. But I’ve been a bit interest in Sagat, and just wondering what the imputs are for all the kara attacks. I saw the Kara Tiger Shot above me a ways, but the Knee and the Uppercut(?) don’t seem to be too obvious to find…
where can i find the option select for sagat and i know how to plink but dont know when to use it is this usefull with sagat? and how to stop being throwen while crouching inputs please?
Don’t really get this one, do you mean on their wake up? After a focus cancel?
On wake up I just do meaty normals on some of the caste, after focus sometimes you’re negative so when you try to do a cr.lk(for example) they grab you out of it. Try not to miss a link, sometimes people will tick grab you too.
st.HP goes further then c.hp , works as an OS for a character with bigger bdash distance if they try to wakeup backdash
Close St.mp works a good anti-air/anti crossup. Very good against Guy matches imo. (far st.mp also stops elbows)
Also , more damage then cr.mp (+5 damage). Whiffs on some crumples/crouching tough
For st.hp I use it a ton when I just catch Ryu on the tip of a bad timed hadoken. I jump in and just get him on his fingers with j.hk/hp and then when it pushes be back I hold back and mash st.hp (lol). The reason I don’t use st.hk much in that situation is that sometimes It whiffs for some odd reason, or I just get him with the tip.
I also use it a lot in the Zangief match, I’m not saying it’s better than st.hk by any means. But A lot of Zangief’s at higher levels know sagat is going to abuse st.hk and they develop timings to counter hit it or grab you out of it. Thats why I switch it up with back st.hp. I’ve hit gief’s 3 times in a row(back to back to back) because the slower timing of st.hp messed them up.
As for st.mp, as uberpro said just know who you can hit with it after a focus crumble or dizzy state so it does that little bit of extra damage. Sometimes if Ryu or Ken whiff on a srk, and my reaction are terrible, I just hold back and press st;mp, comes out. Not the best punish by any means, but better than nothing and the only other time I can think of using it lol.
Right now id say the biggest thing missing for me is my usage of TK, in some matches is basically non existent outside of using it to punish with MK or MP. Obviously its match up specific but I cant really find the basics of utilizing TK in my game.
And I think my lack of TK knowledge plays a big role in some of my other problems.
Right now I find myself really awkward in mid range at most characters, I dont know if I should retreat or rush down, most times I find myself backing off and throwing fireballs. Problem is against a lot of characters this is a bad idea, especially ones that can punish my fireballs with their ultra.
Other situation im struggling with against most characters is after I get a knockdown on them. Obviously character specific again but I get a knockdown and I feel uncomfortable which makes no sense because that a position of power in this game! Whats worse is ill end up doing something stupid after getting a knockdown taking me from a position of power to being at a disadvantage.
How do you guys train yourself to hit confirm in matches. I can do the lk lp xx TU in training fairly well, but when it comes to a match I find myself focusing on so many other things my hit confirm is just awful and when I do land the lp to start I just dont finish it off. I feel like I have the tools to do it by my mindset just isnt there to go with it.
Now I know some of the problems I mentioned are very matchup specific and I have read through the matchup thread and that has helped somewhat. Ive watched videos as well and that has been helpful but I find it can be a bit overwhelming at times watching the high level play lol.
TLDR version- What should I be doing at mid range against certain types of characters, same with knockdowns.
And then is there any info out there on Sagat rushdown tactics?
Sorry if im asking questions that have been answered somewhere else already, ive been trying to absorb as much as I can from the stickies so far.
I have a small question. What are you Sagat beasts doing under heavy pressure with no bars? I seem to crumble and there’s no way back. It’s only my first proper day with sagat.
A typical scenario would be (like today) a Guy player rushing me down from the start of the match and I inevitably end up in the corner with no bars. I don’t want to throw out any DP’s and If I tech I’m probably eating a combo because he’s keeping the pressure on.
Is the only answer , not to get myself into that situation? or do you guy’s have a few options for heavy pressure (no bars remember). It gets bad after that point as my opponent is now stocked up for the next round.
Learn to block, delayed crouch tech with cr.mp. If Guy is doing his frame cancel into slide pressure, he’s not advantage so cr.lp him out of it.
You’re eventually going to have to learn to accept pressure even with bars, since Akuma and other characters can pressure you and stuff your TU among other things. Just be patient, you do get pushed out eventually due to blockstring making the distance wider.
If he does run stop pressure your cr.lp will beat any of his normals after the run -> stop if you time it perfectly. Guy has no 3 frame normals (until AE) and he’s even on block after run -> stop so you have more options than him. You cannot just block against Guy’s run stop pressure, he does NOT get pushed out because of the run. Note that Guy can do run -> stop -> normal throw to beat your cr.lp, or EX Tatsu/ultra. Or you can just normal throw him after the run -> stop and he can only jump/backdash/tech/reversal.
When someone is doing pressure cr.lp is your friend. Abuse that 3 frame poke. cr.lp xx low TS is your friend. Just don’t mash it. Even a 3 frame poke is a commitment. But the only way for them to beat it is to do another tight string that will push them farther away, or to DP in their own blockstring.
