lol… Than what would the point of loweing TU damage and health be?

Having a full Ultra in corner would just bring Sagat back to his SF4 status or maybe even better.

Just learn to use skill to get his full damage in corner like some other good Sagat players have instead of looking for “easy-mode” all the damn time.

Nevermind that the trick to getting full ultra while in the corner only works if you’re right on it. It’s far too situational to be the end all be all answer.

Anyway, the passive aggressiveness in your post is unnecessary. I’m not looking for an “easy-mode” for Sagat, he isn’t my “main” or a character I have any attachment to, but I know well enough that with his nerfs he probably will need an improvement to his ultra juggle to help against, really only, the Ryu match up. If I’m wrong, then hey, I’m wrong, but leaving an execution barrier that doesn’t even fully solve the problem to his corner ultra sounds silly to me.

By Emblemlord’s logic Bison should be top tier because hes the leader of the 4 bosses while sagat is only second in command. Hes also very muscular and has psycho power too!

i have been watching a lot of youtube concerning sagat and i believe that the way to fix him has something to do with cornflakes.

Getting the “cornflakes” taunt would be Sagat’s biggest buff!!

lowering TU damage from 200 to even 100 wouldn’t make a difference to sagats dominance, the damage of TU was never the reason he was good. If they leave the frame properties and hitboxes on his 3 special moves he will still be the best, fact. Lowering damage means you die 10 seconds later, you still lose, you still can’t get in on him.

Lilke for me if tiger uppercut couldn’t be made safe Sagat would already be world’s easier to deal with. I use Sagat on the side so I know how free certain characters are against him . Dealing with him on wake up is a pain because with 2 meters you know you are limited with what you can get away with on his wake. Then from the range game safe upper/kara tiger upper always becomes basically a move you can’t outprioritize and safe on block. So Sagat can close gaps for free once he builds up meter and if he predicts right during the footsies and hits an attack he gets a free combo.

Like I said earlier…tiger knee also needs to not shoot you all the way to the back of the screen. That’s a luxury Sagat doesn’t need at all. I wish C.Viper had a move that shot Balrog or Honda all the way to the back of the screen for free.

yeah most of his moves push you far away like both throws and ex tiger shot do.

Hey, just wondering. Can anyone find any advantage tiger cannon has over tiger destruction. Obviously the designers want both these ultras to be viable, but from CES it looks like tiger cannon does less dmg and pretty much combos the same way as tiger destruction does… Unless they decide to make it so tiger destruction no longer combos off of a fadc tiger uppercut.

If they make the last hit whiff I’m sure Cannon will be the Ultra of choice. They should do that, according to the guys at the Balrog thread the last hit on Balrog’s ultra whiffs after headbutt.

I asked you that question because, as you agreed, the conversation we were having wasn’t going anywhere and because I was genuinely curious about it, since your belief that only large, male badass-types should be top tier in fighting games seems to conflict with your pledge to always use top tier. Would you just not play the game (Blazblue, anyone?)

REgarding Tiger Cannon, I actually had the same thought as jgh7 in that they might remove or nerf Tiger Destruction juggle off TU FADC, or else what’s the point of Tiger Cannon? Similar/related note, anyone know if Ryu can juggle Metsu SRK off of juggles? Same issue…

Yeah forward throw counts…both of Viper’s throws are really useful because each sets up some different wakeup shenanigans.

That said, I also wouldn’t mind an additional special that creates that kind of space. Viper players would all love to see EX TK be granted some sort of use so tweaking that would fit perfectly.

That depends on the matchup. For his 7-3s, yes. For many of his 6-4 matchups, like Chun, Bison, Ryu, Ken, Boxer or some of the really close ones like Viper/Akuma, just lowering his damage, especially his TU -> blah damage makes a difference, because it puts the close range damage options more in your favor, better rewarding you for getting in. If they do that and give Honda/Guile/Vega the tools they need to get in, then you have a much more level playing field.

That comment about chars looking the part was straight up fighting game fanboyism. There was no logic behind it. It was pure opinion. That said Nu looks the part in BB. Homicidal android clone. Guess who my main is?

All that aside, if Sagat gets nerfed…well wtf does anyone expect? That’s what happens. Top tiers get nerfed.

This was exactly my concern with Metsu SRK. It seems like it’ll have the same setups as Metsu Hado minus a couple corner specific ones. I was hoping they would give him the Metsu SRK from SF Alpha where he slides forward with an elbow as the initial hit.

Ideally it would not work off of SRK> FADC but it would have been more of a fireball punish similar to Abel and Chun. Ryu could EASILY bait fireballs, so I think it would have been perfect. New setups, more creative play. Otherwise as it stands, it seems that it’s going to just be Metsu Hado with a new coat of paint, the same (less) setups, and more damage.

Sagat is a top tiers in all street fighters,CVS games .Maybe he was too powerful in this game, but he was so slow.if they gave him speed and if he losed stamina and damage i’m happy with that.Oh yeah a good cross up too.

But sagat is a shoto with a good ultra he always be a top tier. Iwas not surprised by sagat power in sf4 , i was more surprised by some classic characters weaknnes especially Claw guile or Dictator (For the stamina).

Buff the others characters is a better solution for me than nerfed sagat.

Sagat is NOT top in all SF games.

That is GARBAGE.

He has been nerfed in the past just like any other top tier. The only top tier char that’s almost always around high tier at worst is Gouki, because his design is just really fuckin solid. The CvS games are the exception, but that’s mostly due to that game not being about standard SF stuff like projectile zoning and the like.
