first of all, your avatar is fucking hilarious.

secondly, i don’t think you’ll see sagat get nerfed to oblivion, but he does need to be taken down a notch. he’s got an amazing tool for virtually every situation and, more importantly, they work everytime: oh, you jumped in from far away? f+rh into juggle. you jumped in close? ducking tu trade into juggle. you want ex armor? tiger knee. you’re far away? really fast and really slow tiger shots. you’re going to fa? double hitting rh/tiger knee. you’re going to let me jump? j.strong and it’s crazy hitbox. you got close? let me throw you really far away and make you work at that all over again.

can sagat be beaten? of course, every character can. but, please, look at my location: i’ve seen what really, really, really good sagat’s look like, and they’re not fun to play against. i’ve been schooled by a wide assortment of characters here, but those characters take some level of talent to be good with. sagat’s not an easy button, but it’s much more so of a no-brainer then, say, the rest of the cast.

thirdly, i’m laughing because fuckers in this thread were like “no, seriously, ultra in the corner needs to be fixed, that was a screw up,” when most of the cast can’t even cleanly go into ultra without doing so from a fa crumple and having their damage raped for having done so. but, yes, sagat’s ridiculously overpowered ultra needs to be tweaked so it can always do roughly 600 dmg.

maybe your refering to my post but I only said that because most will argue to their graves that sagat will not be nerfed in any way but receive a boost in something so thats what I came up with that wont really change much of the match ups

when deep down I want his anti air st rh to count as 2 attacks(currently 1? not sure if it does count as 2 already if so then 3) that way its scales the ultras after ward or just have it where you cant ultra afterwards at all.

probably get flamed, insulted and humiliated for this suggestion but what do you expect as a ken mainer when I get 326 damage from a dp FADC to maxed ultra…ya I’m bitter, sue me :annoy:

This is so true. It’s the one part of Sagat’s game that’s just completely retarded rather than just annoyingly good. If they made f.RH a juggle starter but didn’t allow you to juggle with it, that would remove the free 80-140 dmg that he gets to tack on to his ultra/juggles and bring his damage output more into line with the rest of the cast.

i guess i misspoke, what i mean to say is:

he shouldn’t be able to juggle with, or from, f.rh. if he manages to hit a f.rh, that’s all he gets. no extra bullshit needed. he still keeps the kick, it still is a great far aa, it still does good damage, he just doesn’t get a damned ultra opportunity, or any extra damage, after it. sagat already has tu trade into ultra, for an aa that does full damage on hit (which also happens to be one of the most damaging ultras in the game). he doesn’t need an amazing aa that allows him to go into ultra without trading or fadc’ing. it’s retarded.

f. rh should send you back and not set you for an easy ultra juggle.

if only, it could put you in spinning juggle state, so the only way to connect the ultra would be near the corner.

but i doubt CAPCOM are gonna change game mechanics like that at this point, Sagat mainers would be pissed!!

the easier way to tweak that is to nerf his ultra damage 20% less or something.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. He says he should keep the juggle of an AA f. RH though, tone his damage down very slightly and most importantly, buff the rest of the cast instead of nerfing the top tier.

I think they made f.rh to make him different from Ryu slightly.

I want it to stay but to do reasonable damage.

When you do ONE small jump early in the match and “boom…boom…whhhrr!” doesn’t take you down to 60/70% would be nice.

The Buff of certain character will make them OP. Buff Abel and Balrog and they’ll end up top tiers, same for Akuma and most of the cast of Sf IV.
However, Nerf Sagat’s F.hk combo to ultra is FUCKING simple and will be SO fair.

Eating a TU + f.HK + Ultra is too much. Plus it’s so simple to do… Sagat doesn’t need it, really. Even without that unskilled fucking combo, Sagat will be top tier.

Saying Sagat doesn’t need a drastic nerf about some aberration sounds hardly selfish to me.
You can always say if i’m complaining about this it’s because i have no skill to avoid that shitty combo, and what about world most skilled players of the world ?

Look at 5.30, TKD fuerte against a Sagat. Is TKD unskilled ? Wasn’t it cruel ? Honestly… Unfortunetly this case happens too often.

Considering Sagat is intended to be top tier by Capcom, only what makes him god tier should be removed. So…

i also agree with what facts said: what’s the point of spending a shitload of time making tweaks (which can, in itself, be scary if done incorrectly) on the rest of the cast when one character has a bunch of tools that can be reworked, or altered. they don’t need to destroy sagat (and they won’t), but he doesn’t need to be that good either.

I play within my ranking which is only G2, my win rate against Sagat is probably higher than any other character (more an indicator of how many scrubs play him). So yeah I would say you are right.

I’m not saying that he isn’t overpowered, cuz he is, I’m saying he isn’t “god tier”, which I take to mean unbeatable, cuz he isn’t. Although I am really tired of picking apart a Sagat only to have one single mistake do me in.

Not saying I don’t deserve to be punished for making a mistake but after completely picking apart my opponent’s game and punishing them for 8 mistakes I feel a little gypped to lose due to one…
