Safe to assume DLC for MvC3?

Except I can guarantee there won’t be an MvC4 for a long while, and you’re brain damaged to think MvC3 will last as long as MvC2 (through no fault of MvC3 itself).

mvc4 wont take ten years to come out

You never know. I predict 5 minimum though, and MvC3 probably won’t even last that long.

i can see MvC3 lasting 2 years before MvC4. this game will be a big enough seller to warrant a sequel that soon, and thats about the speed that the old games came out

XvSF:1996
MvSF:1997
MvC1:1998
MvC2: 2000

I really really think they’ll SSF4 it. Just a confident hunch, tho’. Both gives them another sales cycle, and renews interest by mixing it up.

Yeah I think they will DLC 2-4 characters then Super it in a year or two.

Probably the best prediction.

That way Capcom can make money off of early adopters buying those 2-4 DLC characters via a premium price, and then they’ll get some of those DLC purchasers to double-dip by buying the “Super” version also. They could charge around $5 for those DLC characters, then release those plus another 10 in a “Super” version for $40.

If those DLC characters are some of the more popular ones, a ton of people would bite at $5.

Maybe a couple new stages in the “Super” version also as an enticement? Who knows. All I know is, unless MvC4 is just an upgrade that uses MvC3 as a base, we will very likely see new characters for MvC3 is some form. There is just too much easy profit to be made since the base game will be already finished and will have already returned a positive ROI.

I wouldn’t mind. just as long as the characters are cool/fun to play.

i just dont lyk the idea of trying to buy a character which maybe the best character
which is not on the disc --'
thats all im worried about

Ghost Rider wasnt good enough to be playable yet their quick to make him a cameo? Tron and Felicia in mvc3 but no Gene? Damn right they better put in DLC.

Hmm… I think the best way to look at Mvc 3 is a “reboot” of the franchise with the number “3” on it. Think about it… the select screen has as much characters as Mvc 1 did years ago… That’s says a lot, they made the roster like on purpose so that all the best requested chars can be dlc… to keep making it better to keep getting money… cause you know it’s all about money! So yes there will be DLC… they have everyone by balls now… It’s ok as long as they sell it at a fair price to start with and we get our favorites online…

UUm, only one problem, most people at home DONT CARE about the tourney scene. Most us arent j.wong were we make a living off street fighter and marvel vs capcom 2, we got jobs to do and bills to pay, and most of the profits from this game are going to come from, who else? THE PEOPLE AT HOME.
So plz DLC, plus for those nay-sayers, what difference does it make buying a pack of characters in DLC form then from off a disc? Please tell me? Is the character going to get better if i got it off a disc? Are my skills going to be enchanced if i get a disc release? Is DeadPool going to pop out of my tv, break the 4th wall and personally give me a hand shake for buying it off a disc? Plz enlighten us on the difference. Plus there is really no point in releasing a super mvc3 or mvc4 when i can just simply update the game and add characters via DLC. Plus DLC is always optional, in regards to patches i dont even consider them dlc becuz you’re not going to psn or xbox live and and purchasing and downloading these patches becuz they are free and mandatory for online play. And some people say, “oh i dont want to miss out on a potential god tier character” well then just buy the damn character online, its not hard. plus i know, if you really like mvc3, you will download the character no matter how pride you guys have in discs, you will be compelled to click the purchase button or whatever it says. The way i see it it will save me a trip to the store.

Im not trying to start a flame war im just saying

Somehow I doubt that in your case.

C’mon, Tron is unique!

I’ll be more than willing to dip into my wallet for DLC if MvC3 is able to fulfil my personal hype. However, if the DLC is ridiculously over-priced or includes characters that I have absolutely no interest in, I simply won’t bother.

^this is da truth

you think they should sell the characters in packs or individually like blazblue?

Uh, both preferably. Each character gets sold individually, but if you buy them together, you get them slightly cheaper. So that way those who only want one or two characters don’t break the bank, and the ones who want everyone won’t have to go buy each one tediously.

If you can’t afford DLC for games (which usually isn’t over 30$, even 20$ MOST of the time, be sensible), then…I would have to say that’s your fault. In my books anything below 30$ that isn’t a McChicken is cheap. Even though that probably doesn’t make too much sense, I’m just hungry.

Once again even if these characters do/don’t interest you or you have some dislike for DLC you don’t have to download them, no matter how much you ARE interested in them. They’re not forcing you to, and you can still fully enjoy the game you already bought without addons.

They had to set a deadline for this kind of thing yknow. Probably said “here’s a set amount of characters we have and we think fits our quota, we should be able to release the game around this time if we don’t work on any more characters”. Past that, you’re gonna have to settle for DLC. There’s no changing that. Unless you want the game to come out even more months later after creation, changes, constant testing, more changes, more testing, etc.

I always say its a conceptual objection people have. They’d object if they were .50$ each.

They obviously will not be 50¢ each, so that’s kind of a weird thing to bring up.
I believe that part of what bothers people is the concept - and the unavoidable practical problems that it brings. Stuff like the person above who organizes tournaments.
Another part is the price, I think, and the feeling that serious players will not really have a choice about buying the new DLC content if they want to remain competitive and in-the-loop. If you’re playing MvC3 because you want to compete, not because you love Marvel characters, then you probably don’t care about which new character might be included. You’d prefer to stick with the characters you started with, and not pay additional money.
