Safe to assume DLC for MvC3?

LMAO, you don’t know casual gamers at ALL dude. Families? Gifts? CAPCOM and every damn company out there knows gamers in general beg for DLC and eat it up like they never had a game before. It’s kinda funny; but hey, didn’t games cost 30-40 dollars in the past? Now they’re fucking 60. In a depression, no one is to blame for rising prices.

Cappy’s justified in more ways than one to ride the DLC train. If you’d rather not get it, go on and take a chance at SMvC3; but I’d bet on MvC4 before that.

Chill out son. Pandas help…

…imo

I’m not that worried about online. I’m not gonna be NAH anymore lmao

You do realize you are posting and registered on a fighting game website right? Are you just here to whine about paying for DLC characters? Isn’t that also obnoxious?

“Mainstream gamers” are the ones that buy Madden and Call of Duty, and every slight alteration of them year after year.

I guess I just see a game that folks are 99% certain they will be playing for 2+ years as actually worth the cash for the disc and DLC. Would you also consider someone who buys multiple games in a short period a consumer whore? Is buying game A plus all the DLC trimmings less consumption than just buying games B+C if you are talking the same price?

EDIT: And the reason behind people talking more about DLC than netcode is simply because the community voice for DLC characters is probably of a lot more interest to Capcom. You gotta think they’d know better than to pull a SNK with the netcode. But people discussing DLC (whether yer pro or con it IS going to happen, get over it) and what characters they want has to be more important to developers than a milion “dat netcode better be perfect”. How many folks here can design netcode? (guessing not many). How many have opinions on what characters they want to see as DLC? (damn near everyone)

If DLC characters come out a few months after the games been released because of time constraints I’m not gonna bawww because they actually have a price attached to em, money’s gotta come from somewhere.

Jill and Shuma are a bit… Eh… Too early really, but I guess they’re something for the team to work on since roster is long done… Just balancing and testing at this point I figure.

How much did your stick cost Shoultz? That was no more a forced buy than DLC. If you’re serious about being competitive then shelling out 5-10 bucks is a given.

The potential profit in DLC is actually what makes the content viable in the first place. As Preppy said:

It aint like MVC2 where we had pre-existing sprites, and memory issues weren’t a big deal. Shit costs time, money and resources. Screaming “I want more for less” is not a viable business plan.

I left a love note in his locker.

Not to mention there’s an entire online mode to learn how to play against a character. Don’t want to buy a character, but want to learn the match-up? Do a player match against people from SRK who are using the character (they’ll be around…). Capcom will let you play online without them and if they don’t I will upload a video on youtube of me getting a unicorn ass tattoo.

;D

You act as if Capcom is holding a gun to your head. If you don’t want the DLC than you don’t need to buy it. The characters will still be available to you but you won’t be able to play as them. Having DLC by no means make the game incomplete. They function the same way as expansion packs, giving you more of what you want. DLC wants time, money and resources to make. Capcom charging for it shouldn’t be out of the question.

Anyone who’s not interested in the netcode is a scrub now? That’s some insane troll logic buddy. I’m not showing much interest in the netcode as I have faith in Capcom. They haven’t released an online fighter that has terrible netcode (excluding Hyper Street Fighter II of course).

hahahaha as if you couldn’t be more of a scrub, you break through the level. Congratulations on being a total dumb ass!

you probably have 0 exp in the area of playing online fighters so why are you talking? How can you have ANY kind of solid opinion with no experience and no knowledge?

yes my stick did cost money but its a part of the game. DLC is not. Its just like buying a basketball to play basketball, the ball is PART of the game. They’re not forcing me to go buy a rubber ball or a synthetic one every 2 months to stay good and thats the problem here. Once I have 1 ball, I’m playing basketball for as long as the ball lasts which can be years.

You guys are ASKING to be nickel and dimed, who the fuck does that? oh yea, idiots thats who…

So WHY do you waste your time on here trying to educate people you hate and won’t listen?

heeeere we go again!

People like to fight, and they’ll do what they have to to get it.

I’m gonna say tho, it doesn’t seem to be a majority that really hate the dlc, its just a very vocal minority.

A few people are very positive about it (like me!)
a ton of people are basically ‘ehh’.
5-6 people are very vocally and repetitively negative about it. It’s the ‘squeaky wheel gets the grease’ effect, we think there are more of them because they keep yelling.

When you call someone a scrub you could at the very least use the word in it’s proper context. Also, your going to call me a dumbass you should provide something that would make me look like one. Not make an assumption based on nothing. It makes you look bad.

He doesn’t hate you, he just wishes you could see his point of view. Too many times people feel like the other guy is WRONG. That’s your opinion and it’s WRONG! That’s a retarded and retarding way to look at the world.

$5 is a lot of money to a lot of people, especially in the gaming community. My point earlier was explaining that there’s some logic in charging for the DLC, not to excuse the fact that it actually might have an unprecedented effect upon tournament skills. If Hevad can DLC-buy his way into Evo, but somebody like poor Beats has to hustle Vercette again until he can gather the ducats to buy the S+ tier Shuma… that sucks a lot. Beats won’t know the matchups, won’t know the frame data, won’t know the character shortcomings… he’s nerfed not by his skill but by his wallet.

People are struggling, and SFII has historically been a game where anyone, I mean anyone, can compete on even ground. DLC characters is really sketchy new ground competitively.

That’s the thing, I DO see it from his point of view, hell, I AGREE with him. But unlike the Netcode issue, it will take a massive amount of non-sales for Capcom to not do what they’re doing now. Do I wish Capcom wouldn’t do DLC, and just leave the game alone? Sure, hell, I don’t want a Super version either. MvC2 lasted 10 years with no tweaks really. Will that happen? Hell no. So I personally will not waste my time with a useless effort. I’ll stand by you guys for netcode, but DLC…good luck, because I don’t think Capcom, let alone ANY company, will stop doing what they’re doing.

you pop 25 cents into street fighter and we’re on the same footing. We’re both playing the same game. If you spend more money than me and receive better characters, that isn’t skill winning anymore. Its your money winning for you aka magic the gathering. Its never been like that nor should it. The lure of SF is that your skills separate you from another player, not your wallet.

and by new players going into this DLC shit, you WILL see DLC characters who are top tier. Now you gotta pay money to receive a top tier character? like a good magic card? you guys are so fucking crazy that you’re asking to be nickel and dimed on purpose as well as totally changing the whole basic principles of the game. ANYONE can be good as long as you practice. It shouldn’t be, ANYONE can be good as you spend a little bit more money.

I know why the other games suck online cause I did the research and have played the games. I’m calling you an idiot cause I already know the differences and you don’t. If you did know the differences, you wouldn’t have said that sf2HF is the only bad net code game capcom has ever released. Any experienced player would laugh @ you and I don’t even have to look @ your join date to see that you’re a new player.

If you want to come in here and talk mechanics, net play, fighting philosophy, please step your knowledge game up. I don’t walk into medical symposiums, demand the mic and start talking about the practicalities of robots in the medical field. You know why? cause I don’t know anything about it and that would be pretty idiotic of me to do. I also certainly don’t demand them to tell me why I’m wrong because if I want to talk there, I need to do the research myself.

Now you have to ask yourself the same question. If you don’t know anything about the history of fighting games online nor do you have any solid playing experience, why would you open you mouth on the subject? isn’t that pretty idiotic therefore making you an idiot?

this is how i feel you just say it so much better.

people are making so many excuses for this its ridiculous, from accusing the other person of being poor to playing the “capcom deserves this” card. this is the very essence of unfair play and the fact that people are hopping on board is just wrong. no one approved of steroids in baseball, but what if steroids were legal and everyone had access to them as long as they payed money? would that make it ok?

i dont like DLC characters enough as is, because i am against altering game balance once the game is released. IMO, once capcom prints the final disc, boxes it, and ships it out, its MY game, glitches, bugs, infinites and all. capcom working on a game after i bought it is like them giving me a plate of pancakes and then altering them while im trying to eat them. first its blueberry syrup, then now were adding strawberries, but lets nerf the blueberry cause it tastes too good, so now you get maple syrup…>=[

As regards “can’t change shit” – remember how unlocking characters has changed over revisions. XvSF had an easy hidden character, SFAIII had all sorts of PITA hidden characters, MvC1 had a different scheme, MvC2 had a time unlock scheme, SFIV had one scheme… this stuff does iterate. And when it comes time to run tournaments, that’s when people realize the PITA involved here as regards ensuring that all consoles has all the characters unlocked - and in this case not even unlocked, but bought. =\

I have it on very good authority that the “tournament playability” feedback Capcom received for MvC2 360 was helpful, not definitive but helpful, in previous thoughts/development work. They’re going to get that here, and hopefully that helps them further iterate and improve for the future.

Regardless, I’m done here, just because I’m in no position to argue anything. Shoultz has been here longer, is better at pretty much everything over me. I’m surprised he hasn’t insulted me yet, because honestly, I probably deserve it. I’m just a scrub, and that’s all I’ll ever be no matter how much I try. So I have no business here.

First of all the steroids comparison is a bit much.

Secondly, what I think most of the people are saying is ‘this is inevitable’.

You have the right to rage against the machine of course, but it doesn’t change their point.

Thirdly the money issue is a red herring. It only matters because people don’t like the idea of it. I suspect that everyone on here, if they’re actually talking about playing competitively, can afford to buy the DLC characters, to the point that it’s moot.

That’s the crux of it. The times have changed, we can all afford it, and what’s more, it gives more impetus for Capcom to continue to support this series, and Fighting Games in general.

No matter what, its’ not worth raging up for tho’. You’ll have plenty of chance to show your discontent by not buying the dlc or even the game. And you’ll have plenty of chances to play against people who DID buy the characters, too. Yeah it’s not quite the same, but it’s there.

The main thing to me is that the outré responses are destructive to the community in general and the forum specifically.

wong was a scrub, valle was a scrub, choi was a scrub, tomo was as scrub. The point is that with some practice, hard training and attending good tournaments, you can gain a valid respected opinion as well. You go out there and earn it, you don’t act like a big shot on srk because you post here and have 0 knowledge lol. All I’m asking for is for new players to study up rain and come back with a knowledgeable perspective. Its the only way there can be any kind of intelligent discussion.

And for the record my posts weren’t directed towards you as you’ve been one of the newer players to actually listen. I’m not telling everyone in here I’m fucking right about everything but PLEASEEEEEE listen to a player who has been playing fighters for quite some time.
