Safe to assume DLC for MvC3?

Its worth a try. After I get Storm everyone else would really be just a bonus for me. Theres a lot to work with at this point with 40-42 characters. I’m probably going to pull my team from the 6-7 characters ive had my eye on at this point and maybe make a derivative of that later on.

And for the person who said that DLC shows support post-production, dont jump the gun. Many companies initially release DLC upon release and then shortly after that, and then a year later youre wondering what happened to those supposed periodic updates in the download store. That was one of the reasons I got rid of DJ Hero so quick when it came out.

I’m willing to bet theres at least two more DLC after Jill and Shuma, but after that, hmm…I wouldnt be surprised if they said, “no. thats all youre getting folks.”

WEll, there’s that rumor from that japanese guy’s twitter that we’re getting 10 DLC characters in all, who knows though, could be BS.

I’m starting to think that we’ll only get vets as DLC for the first few months because they already have movesets and making ones for new characters could take more time.

If I have to pay for Jill I’m not buying the game, that’s just me though

Shit’s fucked up. Also not looking forward to balancing changes coupled onto character DLCs.

Well you should probably call it quits now then unless you’re getting the Collector’s Edition. It’s pretty much assured that if a character is DLC you will have to pay for them. Or, you could just not buy them and play with the release roster.

I don’t see how it’s assured you’d have to pay for em. Blazblue just… You know… Patches the game.

Edit: Obvs you wouldn’t be able to use em but you’d still get in some practice against em, even if it is shite.

Well yeah that’s what I’m saying… You don’t HAVE to buy them, unless you want to play them.

Yeah, it’s official, I’m not buying this game now. I want to buy a game once, not multiple times over a period of months. If Capcom wants to be a bunch of greedy, short sighted jerks and not release a more complete version of the game at some point that will survive past this DLC being offered online, they can get bent. This is a marketing gimmick. They’re doing it because of the competitive players who think they have to have everything. But I’m not a consumer whore. Good thing this kind of crap didn’t happen with classic games. We’d end up with a bunch of incomplete BS when we tried to go back and play them years later. I don’t care if it took 10 years for this game to come out, I’m not supporting this kind of behavior by game publishers. If this is successful, every new fighting game will end up like a collectible card game. Not really interested in that at all.

If I were you, I’d never buy a new game again in this generation, because I can guarantee every single one will have DLC like this.

THIS THIS THIS

DLC is just how the industry works now. It’s a staple of gaming now and to think Capcom wouldn’t do character DLC is just silly. Especially when it’s been requested out the arse

I love how salty folks are about paying extra for more characters. Long gone are the days of dropping 5-10 bucks to play the newest game / characters for a day at a arcade (and learning against players, not a training mode).

Personally, I’ll gladly pay 5 bucks for an additional character in MvC3. Much more than that and we’ll see, but complaining over 5 bucks for a character when people here regularly drop 200+ on a stick makes no sense to me. Hell, I’d prolly pay another 30 bucks with no hesitation to get a playable MvC3 Spiral.

Am I wrong in thinking that if each character download was a 100 megabit DL off of PSN / XBL that no one would be complaining? Is it just the idea that your’re paying to unlock them from the disc that offends folks? That happened to my wife and I with her buying Beautiful Katamari; a bunch of levels had to be purchased off of XBL and they were clearly on the disc. Pissed me off, but at the same time I would have paid the same amount to DL the files in their entirety off of XBL. Same amount of money either way, and it’s what the product costs.

I dunno, just seems to me that folks are making a mountain out of a molehill on this. Shouldn’t folks be happy we’re getting more characters and just a tad less salty about the cost? After waiting for over a decade for a new Marvel game?

… You never played street fighter 2 or some of the earlier mario games… did you?

Uncanny projectile pack: Makes Doom’s lasers pink and Thor’s lightning blue, only 5.99 on PSN!

I’m not even able to download Jill because Live is blocked at my university! Awesome!

Go on an adventure for non shitty wireless

There’s always a way. You can’t tell me your whole university has no access to Xbox Live. That just sounds like a nightmare to the CoD players out there.

No, really, there was a petition for it to be unblocked here earlier, to no avail, and when we submitted the idea to the uni’s website which lets the student reps know what the students want, they replied with this:

“As the head of computing services, I sympathise with your requests for increased internet access in university halls of residence. Unfortunately, we can?t increase access this year, but we?re hoping to improve things for the next Academic year (September 2011). To improve the access we need to switch over to a public IP address, which is a large and complex task (particularly as we?ve got 4000 PCs for staff and students!). However, we do recognise this is important to students living in halls, so we?re working hard on it over the next 10 months.”

I’m not even going to be living here by that time.

DLC yes? Downloadable only characters? Hell no. I don’t believe everyone is behind this either. This is the home of the most hardcore fanbois.

Downloadable only levels to elongate a terribly short single player? New map packs that you have to buy in order to play online? Someone needs to open their eyes. I’m not happy about this either, but this is the way things go with EVERY GAME now. You’re delusional to think that this isn’t an industry wide standard right now.

I understand most people disagree with it but most people here aren’t who Capcom really cares about, in the long run.

Honestly I like the possibility of character packs because I don’t want to buy Super Marvel VS Capcom 3. For all we know it could be 5 bucks for two characters, which is a steal. More content is always good in my eyes and they can’t GIVE it away.

Problem is it doesn’t need to be a fact of the industry. It’s just greed. The videogame industry is ridiculously successful. They’re like bigger than Hollywood. The amount of money they blow on game budgets could probalby feed entire third world countries. I’m not buying that this is neccesary for them to turn a sizable profit. It’s consumer rape. The fact it’s assumed there will be 10 DLCs is ridiculous. I’m not going to pay for a game like a monthly bill.
