I hope you’re happy Toast. You’ve killed the scene by wanting more of a game you like. Blood is on your hands.
This is what companies do now. They see dlc as a way to make more money and developers see it as a way to add/finish stuff they wanted.
It is the breaks, but that is how things go now. If i am capcom i would tryto squeeze as much money from fanboys/casuals as possible.
I mean you make cable, megaman, and gambit dlc you know everybody would be all about buying it.
The “hardcor competitive” scene not buying dlc makes no sense, you buy them and prepare. How the fuck do you not have a wireless or wired connection and have a ps3? Do you still run on 56k?
If you have a ps3, internet access, and money to pay for both you should afford the dlc easy.
The people that can’t afford it should save up, because their asses should not have bought the ps3 if they intend not to use the wireless and internet functions for the system and games.
That is what i don’t understand about that arguement. So you have 60$ to blow
on the game, but lack let’s say 20$ to get all the dlc? So you can go to
a tournament saving all year, but not afford putting 20-30$ away for the dlc?
Yeah i wish all the dlc were just “secret” characters, but that is not happening. You can afford the
internet, a ps3, and pay your bills. What is $20 really? An hour or 30 minutes at work?
yes, lets all pay for something we should get for free. That makes perfect fucking sense. did you guys ride the short bus to school or something?
DLC stages\costumes that shit is fine. It doesn’t effect how you’re supposed to learn the game. Now when you start requesting DLC characters, it turns into magic the gathering where you need to start buying extra pieces to play the game properly. Its totally goes against the nature of the game.
Skill separates players, my wallet shouldn’t make me better.
yea I know its only 2 characters but if it doesn’t get taken out now, we will eventually see games where we have 10-20 DLC characters and @ that point, it becomes magic the gathering.
we should be getting that for free. It shouldn’t cost any extra money and that is the whole point. I didn’t get charged for the extra stages in a2. I didn’t get charged for all the extra characters in mvc2 for DC. Why am I getting charged now?
by allowing DLC, you’re making the price of the game go up for NO reason other than being fucking fan boys.
No not really. The games coming out yeah, but what if they want to add something in later? NOPE NO DLC CAUSE SOME PEOPLE DON’T LIKE IT. They won’t be making a super version dude.
DLC is just the way the industry works now. Fighting games will not get special treatment just like they never have.
DLC stages\costumes are fine. If you want to pay extra money to look cool, go ahead be that idiot LOL.
However, DLC characters only promotes more DLC characters and before you know it, we have mvc3 magic the gathering edition.
Don’t bring your skills folks, bring your wallet!!! thats how you get good!!!
fucking morons… Lets spend extra money when that shit used to be free and then support the idea. You guys sure are intelligent consumers lol.
Yeah and capcom is in the businesd of making money, and marvel will only support something if it generatrs more
money.
So ultimate alliance 2 had dlc, and it was limited edition dlc so it sold like hotcakes.
Megaman 10 had dlc and it lined up the pockets of capcom
rdr has dlc and so does dr2
since mua2 set a precedent the dlc characters will be issued i think in that way in order for
marvel and capcom to drain th pockets of their consumers and the casual gamer usually gets bored with a set roster. Dlc characters elongate shelf life and is a money maker. Especially with both character libraries. They would be idiots to
not do this.
That’s the whole POINT. Its a chance to see all those characters you wanted in the game but didn’t make the initial cut!
If there’s power creep in the DLC or insufficient testing then yes, there’s a problem.
If they’re properly balanced and tested, they only add to the game, and the price really isn’t that onerous. You still don’t have to buy them
Of course I say that, but the psychology of it is part of the marketing. They are partially counting on the people who feel compelled because they think they’ll fall behind. Nevertheless, we can overcome our limitations
Do you honestly expect to get DLC in general for free?
Expect it to be free is very far fetched. They actually need to work on the additional content. Somebody has to pay for the work, no? Honestly it makes to sense to expect it to be free. There’s has to be compensation.
Whether it’s right or wrong is a completely different story.
Man I’m still pissed that was only Limited Edition. Can’t believe I missed out on Black Panther… It was only like 10 bucks though right? For 5 characters? I could see it being not too expensive but I could see Capcom being dicks.
Why are you setting up a conflict with “skills” and “wallets”? You’re not making any sense. You’re just raging for the sake of raging and throwing hyperbolic tantrums. No need to carry on like that.
If the game is out and Capcom can add more to it then that’s a good thing. If they put the content on the disc and charge us for it later, then yes we’re paying for a game we’ve already bought and they’re needlessly charging us for something they could’ve given us free.
However that’s not necessarily the case. If they’re using the revenue made from the disc sales to create and add content they couldn’t done by the release schedule then that’s all gravy. If you’re genuinely die hard into the game, complaining about ten bucks for a character pack every two or three months makes no sense. You on minimum wage?
Eh i see packs with “themes” like ssfiv more than individual
i was so pissed at not having magneto, juggs, and black panther
limited edition dlc would piss me off more than anything
Haha Juggs was wicked fun.
But on topic, DLC is a positive thing for the game. It adds more to it over time and keeps it livelier. As Robo said if its already on the disc and they’re selling it to us then that’s a total DOUCHE move, but we don’t know that. They could have ideas for stuff past the development cycle and if DLC means I don’t have to wait for MvC4 to see this stuff, then I’m all for it.
It’s been pointed out before that DLC is not just “cake” for them. I think Seth even talked about it at one point. They factor in the possible profit from DLC into deciding whether or not to add that functionality in the first place. So if you’re on the “fuck DLC” train, you should remind yourself that without that you very likely don’t get a large chunk of that DLC at all.
Writing software is a weird business. DLC is a weird business. It’s not like a map pack here. O_o
Depending on their complexity, Capcom may genuinely need more time to animate Jill and Shuma (ESPECIALLY Shuma) compared to the other more recent characters. Perhaps the game disc will only have their voice and various sound samples? Who knows.
However I could see Shuma taking alot of time due to all the transformation/morphing he does with his normal and special moves. That’s a shitload of effort to put in and make look convincing in a 3d game. In fact I don’t think any current character has as much morphing as he previously did. For Jill, maybe she will have summons after all–and that’s extra effort to animate new models.
They havent even finished with the roster announcements and are already in the process of announcing dlc. I hate this new business model…
Well what else are the guys who do concept art and shit gonna do? They’re in the balancing and testing stage of development. Nothing left for those guys to do. Might as well start on future additions.
agreed, FG players are going to get nickle and dimed more frequently like other genres. unfortunately, I get the feeling that the majority of the FG masses are just going to roll over and take it without blinking an eye. in any event, MvC3 isn’t a first day buy for me (i’ll borrow or rent it instead), but not because of DLC. which i’m not buying no matter who Capcom adds. if i decide to buy it.
Complaining about it won’t do anything if people buy it, and boycotting does nothing as we’ve seen. If you don’t accept the culture as it is now, which is perfectly fine if you don’t, then you know, a lot of people DO believe this generation of games suck, so you can focus on older games and save your money for more important things.
