Safe to assume DLC for MvC3?

it doesnt really matter if jill and shuma are on the disc or not, cause the next 10 characters wont be anyway

I… don’t care either way. I’m trying my hardest to find something to complain about… but I just can’t. I wish I was cool enough to. sigh

Cool. And to celebrate, you should get a bucket of chicken.

While I think Capcom wouldn’t be dumb to release DLC characters on the disc and damage their reputation, there’s actually a good reason to keep Jill, Shuma Gorath and 10 other DLC characters on the disc: it’s hard to see a 500MB-1GB patch update. It wouldn’t even fit on the internal memory of older XBOX Arcade consoles.

This will sell nice, so I expect to see a Super version of this game in one year instead of a GOTY edition. When they release the Super they’ll probably keep Jill, Shuma Gorath and the other DLC characters as DLC exclusive (or what would they give the people who bought DLC for the first game?).

My big concern about DLC is pushing away the late comers (people who buy the original version after a while), for them all the DLC released to date is day one DLC. A guy who wants to buy the game for $50, 6 months after release and find out there are 8 extra characters summing up to $40 as DLC. Is he going to pay $90 to experience the entire MvC3 game or buy a new game? I believe many people will pass on MvC3 (I’m passing on BlazBlue for a lot less =) ).

Why is the only answer “Buy MvC3 + all DLC” or “ignore MvC3 altogether” ?

Oh god I really hope the character packs aren’t 10 buckaroos each like people are speculating. Blazblue’s characters were overpriced…

I’m overhyping my argument. =)

No, I see his point for people buying it late. For us who will have it day one, DLC won’t be a problem as we’ll pay…what, maybe $10 bucks every month or so, if not even more spread out for characters. Someone down the road wants the game AND the DLC and the price altogether will be insane.

Not to mention it likely won’t be discounted as I’m sure the game will be by that time.

I don’t see the game being that low either. $40 minimum…

I dunno man I see Capcom discounts on all the time on PSN. I can see the prices for characters/packs going down a bit if say, you waited until the next ones were released or something.

I think he’s got a valid point. It can be a little disheartening to look at a game and think, “to get the entire experience, I’ll need to shell out £70+”. At least if you’re getting each pack as they come along that’s not a huge lump of cash all at once. However, they’ll likely have a full DLC deal that’ll get late comers the characters for cheaper. That’d be fair.

As to tourneys, it’s hugely in Capcom’s interest to make the DLC characters easily accessible to TO’s (if the chars are legal, more people are gonna see them in top-level play, which adds hype, etc, not to mention people buying them to play in tourneys).

I expect them to work out something with the majors anyways to get them cheap/free DLC characters.

We should retitle this thread.

cause SRK is run by hyperbole and absolutes.

i might still get the CE, because goddamn if i dont want that artbook. but the DLC ill probably throw away somewhere in my room til a year or so later when temptation gives in

I suggest “I Wanna Take Your Credit Card For A Ride: The MvC3 DLC Discussion”

So uhhh we should get some kind of agreeance on which characters everyone at SRK should spam Nitsuuma with.

Second.

SRK is too small to ever beat the 1 million pages of MEGAMAN X! and PHOENIX WRIGHT!!!

I can live with Megaman X

Price is too good on the CE for me to pass up, especially since it’s Marvel 3… almost never get CEs normally… Normally I’d be more uppity about the DLC… but… it is Shuma… I mean… yeah.
