Safe to assume DLC for MvC3?

so they can keep content on the disc and lock it for a year…but they announce DLC before launch and people dont think its not already on the disc?

LOL

I think timing is more important than location personally… I mean, it’s not like it’d be impossible for them to force you to dl shuma and jill’s data in a patch they release shortly after launch.

yeah true…i just feel like im being played for money here by capcom and im not okay with that. this feels sleazy

I’ve honestly come to expect it, as wrong as it is. But… I just can’t deny Shuma-Gorath and Jill… I can’t man.

No, I can agree with you. My point just is… if Shuma wasn’t on the disc, but a week after the game launched you had to download him, you probably wouldn’t feel any better about it.

Would be really nice though to get some details on what mortals are going to need to do to play as Shuma and Jill.

Well, thats not what I said.

The moral of the story is, Capcom got applause for letting Resident Evil 5 run its course before real meaty DLC was even announced. Which ultimately made it worthwhile when it was all said and done 1, and extended the longevity of the game 2.

4 weeks after launch is just kinda like…well ok. I guess. I’d rather them been pre-order exclusive for a few months.

I dont sit right. I wouldnt want to see any more DLC characters til at least 6 months after launch.

When dlc is good: Oh hey there was some content that we wanted to put into the game but couldn’t fit it into the schedule so the producer made us cut it but after the game came out we finished it, here have it for 5 bucks.

also good: hey there is some purely cosmetic stuff on here that doesn’t need to be bought to enjoy the game any more but if you want to support us for a few extra dollars here it is

bad: oh hey, here is a bunch of game important content (characters/maps you can’t play online without) that could of just as easily been put onto the disc at launch but we either intentionally didn’t put it on the disc/left it there but locked so you would have to pay more for the game to get all of it, effectively increasing the price of the game above industry standard.

edit: they should just freakin’ wait on the dlc until after evo. Let mvc3 prime have it’s first big major as is, then keep people playing it by releasing more stuff.

I can’t say I blame you.

bold is what i feel this situation applies as…although i dont think (at least i hope so) that i will still be able to play the game online just fine without having to get jill and shuma

What you feel? Dude anyone with common sense agrees with you that this is fact.

Shuma Gorath and Jill are just as a part of the finished product as Dante and Chun Li. Only difference is, its kinda being passed off like something they crunched in to please fans.

I’m still very happy with MvC3 at this point, I just dont want this whole DLC ordeal to get out of hand.

For all we know they’ve only finished the planning and art for the characters, we shouldn’t jump to conclusions until we see that we only download a 40kb key when they come out (Like with RE5 Versus)

That’s my guess actually. Assets on disc but tuning and properties in download, at least for the first few.

Regardless of whether they’re on the disc or not at launch, the actual unlock download will just be a key… If it’s not on the disc they’ll just make you DL a patch however many days after the game comes out ( so you can play against shuma/jill even if you don’t have them), and nothing really changes.

Either way, the real problem here is how this effects tournament play. Whether you have no idea how to fight Jill because you don’t have her and MU access is limited because of it, or if you’re a Shuma main who rolls up to a local tournament only to find out that the TO doesn’t have DLC characters up on his systems.

If the BB community can manage to not have that issue fuck them up, I’m pretty sure that the MvC3 community can do so as well.

I guess the tournament standard will become PS3 (in terms of financial), it’s cheaper for TO’s, 1 buy equals DLC chars on 5 systems against the 360’s just one.

It already was the Tourney standard…

Most European tournies actually opt 360 over PS3 (but that might chance with DLC 'n such)

Ah I see. Overseas always gets me.

Not really. I have no reason to believe that DLC close to launch is already on the disc. There’s a possibly that whatever on the disc as already been finalized and any additions and changes made late into the development cycle will cause it to be delayed. It’s better to have any features that were too late to make it into the game proper as DLC.

When it comes to DLC, usually a separate group within the main team is an charge of developing it. DLC team has their own schedule’s and deadlines to meet separate from the main team. I’ll wait until I download a key before screaming scam

so if it was further away from launch you would assume its on he disc?
