Safe to assume DLC for MvC3?

hayato!

I agree with Nick. A boycott could work if a vast majority felt the same and would go along with it, but there are too many people who are either unaware of give in to it.

I like DLC… when it’s actual DLC and not Capcom holding two characters back… which is the sound of it given they’re going to be ready very shortly after launch.

You’d think their PR people would realize announcing DLC characters several months before the game is even released would make them look pretty bad.

Or you’re probably going to buy it like everyone else, because it is probably going to be a fantastic game and what you’re complaining about is childish and a completely normal thing in the games industry. Making something that comes out close after release is not a big stretch. When the developers finish the game and it goes “gold” it is sent off to certification to MS and Sony or whoever, then needs to be pressed and put into boxes then shipped out.

What is the developer going to do over all that time(5 weeks or so)? Make more content for their game.

Were you…joking?

Seeing as how this is MvC3 and not MvC2…it is totally okay. Combofiend played Elena and Chun in SF3 but in 4? No…and it didn’t matter that Elena wasn’t in or that Chun was totally different.

I’m still waiting to see proof that you need to pay to unlock Jill and Shuma if you don’t pre-order the special edition.

historical precedent

Not to mention it would make absolutely no sense otherwise.

There’s also a precedent of gamestop pre-orders being exclusive to pre-orders from gamestop and never obtainable outside of said redemption code.

I’m not happy about DLC this soon either. I’ll have an incomplete game (where the incompleteness comes from a fundamental gameplay aspect: characters I won’t be able to use) in less than a month of release. We know the game was scheduled for Spring 2011 and now they’re releasing it 1 month early. In a sense, they are holding back those two character. They were supposed to be ready and packed by the original release date (they may still be packed, btw, but I’m sure Capcom will look into that, they don’t want another PR mess).

I wonder why they’re so nice to Iphone SSF4 consumers. They keep giving them free characters, why console consumers can’t have the same love?

You’d think people would notice that the spelling between “capcom.com” and “gamestop.com” is remarkably different.

I’m allllll for DLC. The vague possibility that we can have Amingo DLC at some point, or other crazy excellence, is exciting to me.

I don’t like the fact that once the games comes out there won’t be an “ultimate version” or whatever to just get and play and use for tournaments, I mean the whole tournament scene is basically why this game exists. I guess all the pros will need that LE.

Not really. DLC characters will be available for those who don’t buy the LE (as the blog revealed them without ever mentioning the LE, plus it’s obvious that way). Besides, this isn’t SF. As good as Shuma and Jill could be, I don’t see them making THAT much of an impact. Remember, Marvel isn’t ruled as much by matchups as SF is.

My post was presuming that Capcom’s press release on the matter wasn’t just a hasty response to Gamestop’s advertisement, since Capcom did say there’d be an announcement today from them.

Yeah I guess, they probably won’t be missed when they are not there, I know they are available outside of the LE, it is just the whole thing with the inconsistency of having them or not, but it should not be a problem unless more DLC characters come out.

Which they will.

Historical precedence or not, I already pointed out that there are other fighting games out there that didn’t require you to pay for characters on the disc that are instantly unlocked from pre-order bonuses once they were publicly released at a later date, so at best it’s nothing more than an assumption that they would force players to do so in every case. I would be disappointed though if they really do require you to pay for it.

Except Jill and Shuma AREN’T being unlocked instantly from Pre-Order bonuses…we have to wait 4 weeks.

stop giving crapcom so much credit that they dont deserve
