Sabin SF4 Japan Q/A - match of the day: Barfights II

Yeah because after that the Vega players disappeared, and never competed again.
Also, TKD with Fuerte has the highest ranking BP (maybe not anymore?)

But i’ll admit, when skill does combine with tiers, Mago with Sagat is born.

I’m also pretty sure a Sagat player has never won a major tournament in Japan. Granted, there haven’t been that many major tournaments yet.

I honestly don’t think it’s long before someone pulls off a win for team one-eye.

Well there you go. I mean damn. I don’t see anyone trying to make claims that Daigo is trash or w/e because he abandoned Ryu for Ken in 3s and abandoned Ryu for Akuma in A3. (Although he went back to Ryu after it was shown that Ryu was still high tier in A3)

Dude made a choice based on what he felt would increase his chances of winning.

Nothing wrong with that.

Mago won Gods Garden btw which I’m pretty sure was the most recent major in Japan.

Also there haven’t been that many majors you are correct. But Sagat does win the most tournies in general with Ryu being second.

Damn Emblem he downloaded you all quick and shit. Verizon Fios.

Um not really.

Sagat isn’t easy mode and both Sagat and Gouki are S tier anyway.

Sometimes I think people need to play ST or CvS2 and see what Sagat is really capable of then play SFIV Sagat.

YJDK.

Umm, you do know that SBO was AFTER God’s Garden, right? God’s Garden = Major, but SBO = not major???

Whoops. You are correct. Yeah of course SBO is a major wasn’t trying to imply otherwise. Just got mixed up with dates.

How is Akuma more well rounded? Sagat has ridiculous stamina and his attacks do sick damage, he has an amazing projectile, can combo into a very high damaging ultra… but Akuma is better?

Akuma is only lacking in health which does not hinder his gameplay and he can’t combo into Ultra.

Neither of these things actually make his gameplay weaker or force him to play differently.

Look at his options and his tools and what he is capable of. The fact that he has an answer for every situation is huge and there are situations where unlike Sagat who would be forced to guess or even take a risk, Akuma does not have to.

That said his options are offset by the fact that he must be played to perfection.

Exactly, maybe Akuma can do more damage with his BnB, but Sagat gets pretty close with ONE roundhouse :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, but Sagat would need to call a fb or just get really fuckin lucky to land a roundhouse.

A BnB with Akuma is far more viable in a match. Demon flip in then dive kick to sum low jabs for the hit confirm and if they thought you were gonna throw then oh well they just got comboed.

These are just minor details at this point though.

They both do alot of damage.

Actually, if Akuma could combo into his ultra and or super he definitely would have advantage over Ryu rather than a 5/5(6/4 Ryu among some crowds).

and to say him lacking health doesn’t hinder his gameplay is a little ridiculous unless you’re talking purely moveset. If it’s round 3 and Ryu has full super meter he has to play SUPER SUPER SUPER defensive, and if he doesn’t have EX meter he at big risk even trying to neutral jump a hadouken. If Akuma had normal health this wouldn’t be as huge of a deal.

Akuma is top 3 for sure, but I don’t see the argument for him being better than Sagat if you look at the match ups from top to bottom.

Yeah, I’m talking purely moveset. Gameplay scenarios are something else.

Match-up wise though I think Gouki and Sagat have the same match-ups. Who does Gouki lose to that Sagat does not other then Ryu which is debatable?

His extremely low stamina doesn’t affect his gameplay?

Every top Akuma runs away bro, do you know how many matches end up going to 00?

Sure. And he has all the tools and more to do so.

But if he wants to fight up close he excels at that as well.

What you just said does not detract from this fact.

Akuma has all the tools to take control in any situation. This is a fact. It’s part of his design.

^why is this discussion happening here? I wanna here more stuff about Japan. Speaking of which who is the best you’ve played over there in your opinion Arturo?

-you can combo into ultra with akuma it’s just hard. cLP->cLP->cMP->FADC lvl 2->ultra ohhhh shit 500 dmg. Also Ex Air FB land Focus while air fbs hit…lvl2 combos->ultra ohh shit happened again…

Edit: isn’t funny for someone who uses Sagat to complain about anything in this game…kinda…no hugely hypocritical.

Edit: 2 Below me…Ummm the fact that Akuma edges out sagat or that he does more dmg in his BnBs (even though it takes much more effort to set up/execution/difficulty)

How do the top players keep maintaining 75 -80% win ratio if they’re consistently trading off wins like that, especially at a place like big box?

Bokkin: What did I complain about in this thread exactly?

I think you posted in the wrong thread bro.

lol@thread

…and people getting butthurt because i called their question as sounding retarded. Anyway i DID answer the question and indeed call him out for asking a silly question that can either be worded properly to not sound so retarded (so he’ll realize it so and the next time he wanna ask summin, he’ll give it a proper thought first). I bet a lot of people went smh reading his original question.

Back on topic, when you coming back to Tokyo art, there’re lotsa tourneys happening here(besides nakano trf that is). There’s one major Kanagawa area tourney this 26th though i think you’ll still be in osaka. (id join that but im gonna be on a plane to japan lol)

Sabin: On your travels have you played a Grand Master Honda player named Akimo?

If so how would you describe him. The reason I ask is that I am in doubt of my character right now and would like to hear what you think of one of the best SF4 Honda’s in the world.
