I still think Akumas ultra as its place in life. It limits a lot of options. It just doesnt limit any sort of jump in the way the rest of top tier does.
Looking back from where I am now, I agree you with completely. But considering my only previous sf experience was sf2 on snes beating on the cpu on easy mode so I could see all of the characters endings, I never really had a play style.
I first started out with ken, cuz heâs American and not a fat fucking slob. But like I said before, I went to ctf at $1 a pop. Also, I didnât know CTF was world famous sf dojo. When I lost at the arcade I just thought some fat kid beat me at a video game, so Iâm like fuck that letâs go again I hate losing.
One day LI joe shows up. First guy to pick sagat since I started going. Murdered everyone who was on 10 game win streaks (max win streak at the time). So I was like⌠yeah Iâm going that guy.
Another funny story, I brought one of my friends to east coast throwdown, another RTS player - no sf experience. Ten minutes after we get there LI Joe is playing casuals on the projection TV and my friend seeâs TU FADC f.rh ultra. He looks at me and goes âso⌠thatâs the best character in the game right? [sarcastically, as in holy shit did you see how much damage that did?]â
5 minutes of sf exposure and the kid is like âso you throw fireballs to keep them away, make them jump, uppercut them then skull fuck them with that super move? I get itâ I went with chris hu, he looks at my friend and in broken English goes âbasically.â
Itâs that RTS mentality.
Actually, the only reliable way to land the ultra outside of dizzy / lvl 3 focus is a jump in. You bait with fireballs - space yourself - then let it rip. DIE A THOUSAND DEATHS!
Except people pick characters that fit their playstyle usually. Itâs not always about trying to bank on the most wins possible. I mean are you telling me youâd be content with everyone picking Sagat?
No sagat player should be content with sagat mirrors. Theres no advantage to sagat in that matchup. =(

In terms of LI Joe owning everybody, itâs all relative still. Despite Norcal having some really good players, I murder 95% of the population simply cause there are way more players overall than quality players. He coulda killed you all with Rufus or Balrog even.
Back when this game was new, having good ST fundamentals could get you a ton of streaks, but somebody who had good fundamentals and a basic understanding of this game was just unbeatable until you too understood this gameâs mechanics.
There are more ways to hit akumas ultras than just after fa, dizzy or as AA. Theyâre just very character specific. But the main reason why Demon is so dangerous is it prevents you from mounting significant offensive pressure because good akumaâs buffer demon into every damn normal they do, waiting for you to leave a hole or do something with enough frame disadvantage to get you boned. As an example, against John Choiâs c.mp xx tatsu punish against s.rh, Ed Ma buffers a dirty ass demon into the s.rh and karas the demon before the second roundhouse hit. Another clever way J.R. hit demons was through whiffed cross-ups. You instinctively tech which gets you owned.

well at first the scrub machines are online but thereâre only 3 beginners there, me, a gief(pretty good) and a ken(fuckin annoying argh and heâs like 12? LOL)⌠we played each other for like an hour or so then shit got stale haha especially later on when some fuerte with over than 20k BP came over and started semi-raping the beginners/scrubs.
sabin vs zangitan was first to 5 wins, i think it ended sabin 1 zangitan 5. they kept on fighting after that but i didnt count since i was busy playing too lol.
and that rufus is kirisuto(heâs mad young, like 15? lol), one of the top rufus in japan. ive only seen sabin lost to him a few times, didnt recall him having any wins but hey i didnt go to shibuya freeplay to just watch others play lol
oh my first match after all the machines were linked was against tkdâs fuerte and i won lol thats enough to make me not feel so bad (got raped really bad by a gouki - FUCK GOUKI FOR REAL )
I wouldnât mind if everyone picked sagat, I took the time to learn the ins and outs of that match up. The only mirror I lost that wasnât some bs casual I could care less about came down to the wire and my dual modded stick fucked up. Dude did low tiger shot, I hit fierce punch for high tiger shot (i start to grin like yeah mutha fuck youâre dead) and a TAUNT comes out. #5 where sagat goes HAR HAR HAR HAR and crosses his arms. My own character laughed at me as he threw the match.
Reason why I know it was my stick was I teamed up with andre and evil rahsaan for a 3v3 and during the 1v1 afterwards I let them use my stick, rahsaan went for a reaction ultra in response to a blanka ultra and a taunt came out⌠he lost the round. Then it happened to him again later in some other match⌠so I turn personal action off when I play on ps3 now

Always disable personal action, lock your home button and disable the buttons you donât use man . Every evo match, made sure to not allow myself to get DQâd or owned by taunts/exâs.
zangitan beat me at least 7-3 and was running streaks on the room
as for the 70k bp rufus, he beat me every game except for once i think i played him at least 5 times. basically id own him until i was forced to block a divekick then peace out.
as for tkd and the rest of the guys generally i did ok i went like 40/60 against tkd fuerteâŚ
then he picked chun on me for some reason, and i beat him every time, i wanted to play his elfuerte
vs max gouki, i beat him every game except for like 2 i think, hes kinda impatient but still good.
vs the balrog players i went 50/50 about.
overall not bad but not great either. and yeah i recorded a few vids

Zangita was the first zanghief I was playing against ^^ It helped me a lot understanding this match up.
Kirisato, I play against him nearky every day like yuuru ryu.
kirisato seems young. i understand your problem against hm, after dive kick he goes to st lk and then act in reaction. if lk touche then another lk hp tornado or directly Hp tornado, if guard then mixing betwen fuerte options.
really hard to keep the pressure not eat an ultra ^^
zanitan, very good foot step, very destructive combo( like down.lp down.lp st.mp st.lk stlk ex green hand ^^) don t ever try to hadouken if he have ex ( you will eat ex green hand directly)
and once your are in the ground welcome to the vortex, he nows all the set up and use the option select to kill your back dashâŚ
there is yuuru ryu and a 90 000 saga/ akuma player from yokohama too. this 4 are quiet the strongest( with kuma dictator)

now he is 85 000 bp with dictator. however latelly he is usig a lot akumahe is arround 25 000bp if I remember correctly.
but to be honest is akuma is not really impressive, i m not sure he will become strong akuma player as I saw him play akuma 2 month ago and he is still arround 25 000 bp and more important the way he plays doesn t seem very impressive.
