Good idea. That shit is so easily punishable I would probably plug the RH button out of my stick if I played Guile. Half of the cast can ultra in between the 2 kicks and the other half can do something else
Can we stay on topic?
Heh, I’d plug it but a few of his other moves are alright from it. That and I play Blanka and his sweep is fantastic.
Personally though his sweep has decent distance, if I need a knockdown I’ll play footsies (c.MK and Spinning backhand work well) with someone until they try to jump in and they get hit with c.HP or (depending on distance) FK.
In any case, this isnt a Guile strategy topic so back on topic:
Sabin, what is your official ruling on Guile, he made a decent playing at SBO (two of the top 8 teams and one of the top 4 I believe) and Gilley and Dagger G rocked him at EVO quite nicely. (a bit of a better worded version of my question)
I think 3k is a good benchmark for 2 weeks. I was just there and spent less, but had 3k to be safe.
If you are there for 3 months you have to get down to hiroshima and eat some Okonomi Yaki! It was one of the highlights of my trip for sure! You can play at a-cho on your way there/back. Win-Win.
This thread is good. You guys should throw up a blog for pics etc.
For the record, there were two Guiles at SBO, and they both made it out of the first round. One of them lost in the second round, and the other lost in the third round. There was one Guile in the top 8, and none in the top 4.

Sabin, how can you just fly to Japan and stay there for 3 months? Do you take time off work or school? Where are you staying? Seems like it’d be really fun to do that, but most of us are tied down here. :arazz:
Eh well, not bad for a bottom tier character >.<
Stupid question, but any SFEX cabinet sightings? I thought they might have a cab over at A-cho and Game41, but otherwise I’m guessing not.
Hi Sabin,
First thanks for this !!! That’s nice to read footage on Japan trip.
I have several questions, i hope you can answer them.
But before you speak about usa vs japan on the share of informations. I can be agree with you but in the same time, i’m a french guy and i come here on SRK to learn something. Not on a Japanese forums (do they have one ? ).
So my point is just to thanks those forums ( English, French, Australin, etc…) and people on them. Even they (us) are not top player star, they all bring informations and we have a place to talk since we cannot meet us in arcade.

I heard you lose to a dictator at the last TRF in casuals and i’m very amazed because i remember seen one of your match versus a famous dictator ( Min ) an he looks without any option. Like he cannot do anything versus dhalsim. I don’t know the match up but i wanted to know your opinion.

You said you stay 2 or 3 months in Japan.
Do you plan to keep us informated about your trip during all this time ? (That’s will be cool ^^)
Or it’s just your good mood after the tougeki and that will stop soon.
I ask you that because, i have a favor in fact.
You said before, don’t think the few vids we watch are the reality of the japan scene. And you say also to someone who ask you to record some match to send you a camera.
I take you on your word.
First i agree, video of a tournament in single elimination is not the good way to see the best of a player. I loved to see more casuals matchs of daigo, nemo, nuki and others. I think you can see more good things when 2 players fight several times in a row for example.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to see casuals match on youtube. You found more easily tournament video than casuals videos. That’s scary and weird i think.
So my favor is that : If everybody here is ok to send you some money to buy a camera ( i think Japan is the best place to find a good camera at good price ^__^), can you play for us the reporter for all the gaijin players outside the Japan.
When i say reporter, it’s because i don’t expect 2 or 3 vids of 1minutes of the last round of ONE match… I expect more. Some long hours of videos at big place in arcade.
It’s favor because if you record matchs, you cannot play but i was thinking about that since you stay long time in Japan.
What your opinion. What the others think about that ?
If we can setup that, that’s will be cool for all the fighters on the net, no ?
Ps : sorry for the english
dude just grab a camera from akihabara for like 4000y and they are pretty good. We arent looking for like HD streams, but it would suck if you came home w/o any videos of you guys playing against the japanese.
what if you guys like pool some yen together or some shit? Throw it on the Empire Arcadia corporate account <_<
wowwww we are not gonna have another gloveguy situation again.
Sabin,
Are the Japanese players combo crazy like we believe them to be? One of the problems I think with ‘average’ US players is that we tend to focus too much on landing a combo as opposed to learning and perfecting the basics.
As a Dhalsim player, I don’t think that he’s a combo heavy character but more so a basic keep away character.
Thanks for your input.
Um, guys, Sabin (or anyone for that matter) is not allowed to film matches in an arcade. If they see him recording matches they’re gonna tell him to stop, and if he continues he’s gonna get kicked out.
There’s probably a few in random areas. They have almost any kind of random game in Japan if you look around enough.
Is that a cultural thing? Can’t see why they wouldn’t want him to record otherwise.
Er… no, it’s not. Try filming on any privately owned property anywhere in the world and you’ll get asked to stop filming a lot. It’s really up to the people who run the business though, and most times it’s basically a case of “if they tell you to stop filming… stop filming”. I already discussed this pre-SBO but I don’t know why it’s such a surprise that this happens.
And for the question a few posts up, there are quite a lot of SFEX cabinets around. Monte 50, the arcade I go to, has SFEX2 (+Alpha? I forget) right beside the Tekken 6 machines… but ironically has no SF4 anywhere lol
which monte do you play at?
im always at the one in umeda…
shibobaka has quite a few vids from bigbox arcade. i never been to japan but maybe some arcades are less strict than others on the video thing. http://www.youtube.com/user/shinobaka#play/uploads/13/OCsd1HjzyWQ
I think people are pointing out that it does the business no favors to stop people from filming matches. Filming matches increases competitiveness and builds hype online, there’s no reason to stop it unless you have an event like Tougeki (which costs a lot of money to make and relies on DVD sales to recoup it) outside of sheer parochial logic (this is my arcade, and I don’t want you to film it!).
Yeah I gotta imagine there are places that are less strict about you filming. Especially considering you are filming footage of a video game more than you are people or anything really personal. A lot of people on YouTube get away with filming private property too.
I mean there’s probably some legal/personal issues behind it as filming in general can be kinda intrusive in itself.
we missed the japanese bboy festival in shibuya today sorry.
also, i love the trolls i love how they get so pissed off on 2ch about me saying nigga when im actually half black and they claim i dont know shit about jpn culture shit is mad funny haha
you mean japanese 2ch idiots who dont know me irl yea lol
hey Don’t interpret favorable for you
generic japanese don’t like people like you. not only 2chner.
when you lost the game you should act as loser. just be quiet!
why you get mad and talk shit with microphone in last TRF?
such a thing never happend at TRF movie befor you came.
only commentator and winner talk after the match.
