It’s not huge thing modify it if they care, but knowing them we risk to get that shit as we see it

cestus i also find it bad , only the EX version seems a little bit nicer. But maybe we could only try to work with it and see what it could really does in the heart of the battle.
Indeed if you look well the video is very bad and basic (it could give us a bad view) and as Eater Rice said , it wasn t between the reals hands.

It not a bad animation it’s more of a revamp. Probably for various reason some said it could have been for story progression while others said for a new quick start up.

What kind of crap animation was that? That ain’t no joudan. Also LK joudan should combo from cr MK or st MP. Then MK and Ex joudan from cr HP. LOL capcom.

Looks like some kind of meterless joudan combos from cr.strong.
Also cr.strong xx ex.joudan, ex dp seems to work from midscreen.


Not sure if counter-hit is required for any of the cr.strong combos. Hopefully not… If cr.strong/vt1 st.fierce are the only ways of comboing into joudan, than it doesn’t really open up any new combo utility.
But st.strong, cr.strong xx joudan for meterless knockdown and damage would be great. Or mk.tatsu connecting on crouchers. Same thing, IMO.

Also, vt2 counter into dp seems to do solid damage. Still think it’s redundant with v-skill. Wish each vtrigger came with its own v skill.
Oh well.

It’s like Capcom are trying to make it look like the actual counterpart. Not my preference I like the old one…

That was kind of frustrating to watch because again it looks like another video of a person using Ryu that probably doesn’t play Ryu. Anyways, every time joudan connected from cr. MP, it was from counter hit so that doesn’t really confirm anything. Luckily though I did see another video where it did combo from cr. MK without counter hit, I just don’t remember where I saw it though but it’s real.

My biggest concern from watching the video is that EX joudan whiffed after one of those cr. MP cancels. Assuming the LK version is the fastest version and also has the least range that means that that ending combos with joudan may be spacing dependent and not guaranteed from any range where cr. MK or MP hits. We’ll find out all this stuff in due time but just noticing this stuff has been kind of a hype killer. Lastly I hope that guy just did it too early and EX DP fully connects because nobody is wasting 2 bars for mediocre damage, but that doesn’t look like it’ll be the case though.

Im unsure about this VT2, it may end up becoming OP. Its a 2 bar VT that allows Ryu to do 3 counters. Every landed counter will result on guaranteed ~270dmg (the FA seems to do 150dmg and the following dp will do extra 120dmg). The thing is, if we manage to get 2 activations per round its gonna be OP as hell. I was scary because Cammy does that w/o much trouble but after a while I realized that Ryu needs the opponent to hit him in order to deplete his VT bar so maybe it wont be that easy for him to fill 2 full meters in one round. If he manages to fill those meters twice per round with ease this thing gonna be OP as fuck, guaranteed. Otherwise, I dont know: if it have a fast activation (1f) it will still be very strong with the current damage. I hope they tone its damage down a bit and keep (or turn it onto if its not) fast because I dont want more high risk/high reward random crap in this game. 80dmg from the FA plus 120dmg from the dp seems very reasonable for me.

@DeathGun You forgot about damage scaling(so it would be 258 instead), but your point still stands. The damage is very high for something he can do up to 4 times per activation. At the same time it still has tons of recovery on whiff and retains the counter hit state so it’s still a huge risk to take and people will be looking for it once activated. They can tone down the damage a bit(no lower than 120 hopefully), I just hope it’s active on frame 1. I don’t want to have to respect anybody’s plus frames and I want them to know it as well.

Doesnt make sense though, if it combos out of cr.mk it should combo out of anything. Unless it’s only special cancel off certain moves.

they did this to replace cr mk hado from far away coz it doesn t connect. Now from max distance for cr mk you can connect something…
The best is to wait frame data , i doubt ryu will be op tbh

It isn’t what Ryu needed, so I hope he gets major buffs, otherwise I might skip out until Season 4 (hopefully Dee Jay returns by then). New characters may be fun at least.

His Hado game is too shitty to be Op , they will never op him as certain caracter who got all in one : Command Throw , DP , mobility , long poke, high press ect…

He needs a combo ender for crouchers, he needs it a lot, I cant stress how much Ryu needs something like that in the current state of the game.

In close combat nobody fear , he has nothing , but when u are Ryu you fear of press + Norm and Command Throw.

I dont understand why certains caracter can be very good in press and also have Command throw…

this game is definitivly not made for shoto.

stHP should force stand

in that way you will be able to do MP>HP>HK on crouchers

We both agree that he needs a combo ender for crouchers, what it should be its another ballgame. In the current balance I’d still prefer the donkey kick because it would give you more flexibility pressuring the blocking opponent than a target combo whose first move is +2 on block.
