Rockman, I mentioned your suggestion, but I forgot your user name, I like the one you said about the counter hit on regular donkey kick and mention it briefly. Credit to you.
EDIT: I just noticed I spelt thoughts wrong on the title, I’m a retard lol
I basically agree with everything you said. Its like Ryu is a curse to play instead of a joy.
The damage scaling on combos sucks. Its a difference of 5 or 6 hp. Just stupid.
Your assessment of VT is spot on. its like when you get in the zone of footsies and you are more in tune. Then all of a sudden you react to a pattern and get a big reward for it.
Has anyone noticed that the recover from activating VT2 is slightly longer than VT1?
I’m finally learning to like Ryu. When I think about it, he very well might be the second best zoner in the game, after Guile. I play him extremely defensively nearly always trying to zone and force the opponent to come to me. They get careless and I knock them down and then can go on the offense. I’m not saying he great or anything, but I’m finding that I really like his playstyle and his defensive focus. He could receive very minor tweaks and do very well I think.
New 3.5 Patch changes for Ryu are up on first post! Check it out and let’s do some theory crafting.
Denjin Renki got an timer increase from 800F to 1000F, however they increased the V Hadouken useage as well, from 50F to 100F…so wouldn’t that just offset the buffs to VT1? I’m confused?
Overall, I’m just out of whack as to what Capcom wants with Ryu…“Yeah, we’ll give him buffs…but let’s also nerf his options on those buffs to so that he technically doesn’t really get buffs.”
All the more reasons why imo, having a 1000 improvement on VT1 not making a whole lot of sense, and if you throw on top of that the VHadous consuming 100 instead of 50 now as well.
That kind of defeats the purpose of improving the timer from 800 to 1000 if it’s going to feel practically the same as it did before.
I’ll give this much, they did improve VT2, and I’m just curious if they’re intentionally doing it so that more people will possibly cater to VT2.
Overall, the buffs are okay however nothing imo that is going to help make Ryu relevant enough for the competitive scene to used.
I would love to be proven wrong on this of course.
Capcom is really doing a terrible job with this game.
They nerfed a low tier character. Ryu’s hp dp finally does more damage than the rest (when it hits on first frame) but it will cost you. Good job guys.
