C.lp will hit him out of the hop reliably. It will autocorrect if he hops behind you.
thx.
Crouching lp is not effective doesnt seem effective on reaction, i cant mash it because of all is other option. It doesnt auto correct fast enough, did you test it or you just supposed ? I usually do the cr lp and its not effective thats why i was asking…I’m playing vs a 18 000 and a 21 000+ bp blanka… no scrub.
I said c.lp because it’s what I use. If it doesn’t work for you, you’re answer is no…there’s no normal you can use. C.lp is the quickest you have.
Thanks maybe im doing something wrong, maybe im doing a crouchtech at first then a cr lp. Ill have to analyse my game if Its really working for you. Tanks for the quick answer… What about my problem/question about Abel, any idee/opinion on that ?
Not really. I have trouble with footsie abels, too. I try to just avoid that situation.
The Elusive Pursuit of Perfection
Am I the only one concerned with achieving perfectly clean inputs?
I ask because I wonder if this is hindering my execution aspirations in general. Lately I?ve been drilling down the SRK > FADC > Ultra combo in training and I?ve found that when I break the combo into parts I can achieve perfect inputs for the first 2 parts together (SRK > FADC). Then when I combine it all together I end up with imperfect inputs, yet still manage to execute the full combo fairly consistently. Then I look at the input display and try to adjust in order to get that perfectly clean input read and end up failing the combo I just had down! It?s bothering the hell out of me because although I only began learning to use a stick with SSF4 I?m relatively happy with my progress thus far, but just when I think I have this particular combo down I hit these weird execution hiccups. I?ve watched Daigo?s ?tutorial? on this combo but that guy just seems too clean! I?ve made peace with the fact I?m performing the shortcut Ultra motion on the P1 side and the full on P2 ? in fact the inputs on the latter side for the whole combo are usually spot on lol! ? but the FADC inputs particularly are inconsistent. My other concern with this issue is that my local ?cade just got AE and I want to go down there and experience some in-person competitive gaming but I?m worried that I?m just used to using my TE and that these rogue inputs appearing in my combo drills are gonna stuff my execution! I?ve come a long way form drilling Hados to being able to perform other Ryu FADC combos with great consistency but the most important one of all is dancing in and out of my max range!
Does anyone else bother about how clean their inputs are (regardless of combo) or is it more important to just be able to do it?
Reference to this specific combo would be greatly appreciated.
Frank
anyone any tips on hittin reversal or auto correct dps i could do it in super all the time never seems to work on ssf4
It’s a long, hard road. I’d suggest working on more complicated drills first. Prove that you can do those consistently. And then slowly level up your execution cleanliness for the character overall.
Granted, it’s a little anti-bruce lee… (ie. fear/man/10000 kicks/10000 times) But I think it’s important to get used to placing your hands in a manner that you’re able to go from one action to another fluidly. If you focus on this one element to the exclusion of all else, when you try other things you will move your hands in a way that will make this either more difficult to do or slower to do.
Playing other games with tighter execution requirements on the basic special attacks may also help. Although be aware that some games, like SF3, have a different shortcut for the 2xqcf motion that will screw you in the SF4 series if you get too used to it.
One other point about the inputs for SRK>FADC>Ultra
If I continue to hold the MP+MK buttons after the dash, buffer the ultra motion and then release the MP+MK buttons before quickly hitting 3 X Punches, will I get a negative edge lp.SRK? I?m at work at the moment but I recall that when I was doing my drills over the weekend I found that when I just did the SRK>FADC part of the combo whilst continuing to hold down the focus buttons I yielded basically 100% results - for that part of the combo. But I didn?t add buffering the ultra motion and now I?m at work!

NVM
Tried it last night; you do suffer negative edge!
Frank
I’m trying to picture what is actually happening here. Are you saying that if you do the following:
SRK, FA, buffer the ultra motion, release the Focus, press LP + MP + HP = gives you lp srk?
-
Firstly, does buffering the ultra motion whilst holding down MP + MK give you the dash cancel?
-
Secondly, I thought negative edge = being able to execute a special move by executing the motion and then releasing the button, e.g. press and hold lp, do the fireball motion and then release the lp button, you get negative edge lp fireball. If you are getting negative edge SRK, then surely this would mean you are getting MP DP as a result of releasing the MP + MK buttons! and not lp SRK. I cant see how you are getting negative edge LP SRK. If your getting a dp, I expect one of the following:
-
MP DP as a result of negative edge on releasing the focus attack buttons
or -
HP DP as a result of hitting PPP, with HP DP taking precedence over MP an LP as its the strongest attack
or -
EX DP (if only you have ex meter after the fadc).
Simply tap mp+mk for a split second. The rest is just academic since its just not a good habit to take.
Yeah, I was actually getting a MP DP but I finally solved my lingering execution problem with this particular combo last night. In the end it came down to the first thing about using an arcade stick??the grip. I managed to get this far with my execution with my grip gradually becoming an after-thought and had seriously hit a wall with this combo. Dash-cancelling was inconsistent and I never thought to adjust my grip as I was almost pretty much fully opening my hand to exclusively use the palm? this was for dash-cancelling on the P1 side, P2 side has been very consistent. Just fooling around last night I tried keeping the ball of the stick nestled in the fingers and the problem absolutely immediately evaporated in front of my eyes! I thought the fingers remaining in contact with the ball would cause down-forward inputs but in my case the reverse was true! In fact, I?ve drilled down the other parts of this combo so extensively that now I really have to slow down the inputs because the Ultra whiffs!
Frank
To be quite honest, I drilled SRK > FADC > Ultra 1 for a number of months practically every day, and now I can do it in my sleep. I personally have the best results with just drilling a combo until I am utterly sick of doing it - next thing I know, I’m doing it in a match without even thinking about it.
Initially, I had the exact same issue as you did, Frank - my Ultra came out much too quickly, landing only 1 hit before the opponent would bounce off the thing. I also had the classic EX SRK issue, until I realized I needed to consciously hit forward rather than down-forward, and in doing so it slowed me down just enough to land the full Ultra every time.
The downside to this is, when I play as the other shotos (I’ve been rocking Akuma lately, he’s lots of fun to use btw), I might find myself doing SRK > FADC > …OhWaitI’mAkumaNow. lol.
Your right Frank the palm position is very important in the Ultra combo when you go from one side to another. Thats why most players have a prefered side until they ajust their palm right.
A way to always hit the Ultra not to fast or not to slow is to take a pause after the dash motion, look how high is opponenet than 2
very fast quarter circle. This might be the best option but it take a lot of cool and experience. The other way is just a smooth control motion after the dash.
Cheers Pieton and Annihilationscape!
It?s reassuring to know I?m not alone in having to drill this combo down. And I think I can take something away from both of your responses. I remember when I thought I had this down before, I used to consciously hold the last forward input to guarantee getting the Ultra motion, but found sometimes since the dummy is in the corner it would cause me to move forward a little and whiff the Ultra. Funnily enough whatever happens in the lab for the most part I still manage to pull it off in matches, but there are too many instances where it would have won me the game but it whiffs or 1-hit bounces them! I do find myself in the heat of matches trying to input the motions in a flurry - too fast since I?m always fishing to land it. I think this is part of my problem. Once I?m drilling something in training I?m always trying it to land it, when sometimes a meter-less lp.dp into Ultra would suffice. Last night I panicked trying to get some damage on a T.Hawk player and wasted meters by doing j.hp, cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.hp > lk.Tatsu > Ex.dp > FADC > Ultra in the corner. And it wasn?t even to finish him off!
Cant wait to get home and back in the lab?..
Thanks again fellas!
Also, lets keep posting. It?s a graveyard around here since MvC3; which I intend to get eventually but I?m not giving up on my SSF4 Ryu. He introduced me to the Fightstick!

For the any link to cr.mp/cr.hp link, if I input the plink as HP, LP, MP, so that I get HP, then HP+LP, then MP, do I get 3 frames to link either cr.mp or cr.hp?
For example, after solar plexus, I’d like to get either cr.mp or cr.hp, if I do the above will I get 3 frames instead of 2?
If you p-link your c.hp or c.mp before either a c.lp or c.mp, You will have a 3 frames link window instead of 2.
For solar plexus to c.mp or c.hp you will get a 2 frames window link instead of a 1 frame one.
Frank: I think its a great habit to try to land what you have been practicing even though it may make no sense in the current situation. It get registred to memory quicker, game memory. For punish It may be good to alternate between like:
c.hp xx srk , c.mk xx tatsu, c.mp xx cmk xx tatsu , Solar Plexus.
If somebody whiff a move and you have Super you can alternerte between c.mk xx srk xx super or c.hp xx srk xx super
raw super etc
vs a whiff for ultra you can alternate with c.hp xx srk fadc ultra, srk fadc ultra, c.mk xx srk fadc ultra, raw ultra.
To have a complete arsenal its good to be rotating different option so eventually our memory and our brain will be quick enough
to pick the right one in the right situation and with confidence.
From solar plexus to cr.mp or cr.hp shouldn’t it be 3 frames? This is what I see on the input
MP
HP+LP
HP
You can also get
LP
MP+HP
HP
If you input HP, MP then LP, with LP right after HP+MP.
