Not sure what this really means. There are different ways of pianoing moves and in SFIV they just apply to mash moves like Blanka’s electricity, and Honda and Gen hand slaps. That these are charge characters have nothing to do with piano inputs.
With any character, you can drum your fingers from HP to LP and with the proper timing you’ll get a plinked hp followed by lp. This is useful when try to link cr.hp after SPS because if you miss the timing (2f too early) you still have the opportunity to link into cr.lp. Some players have different plinking techniques for that link though.
It’s pretty easy. You can also land it against Sagat, and you can get 3 MPs against Blanka as well (probably a few other chars) but it’s harder (or maybe not even possible without a trade) to land the followup. Try doing it off a high jump in. They higher your jump in connects, the closer you land to them. In some cases it’s also easier to land it vs a crouching opponent.
MP DP is less likely to trade, but it does less damage. On the other hand, if LP DP trades, in many cases you get a free Ultra anyway. Use your discretion.
Well I tested it out and its easier then I thought. It connects mostly on when they are crouching… I got it to work on Rufus, Blanka, Bison, Abel, Oni, T Hawk, Honda, Sagat & Zangief (Only worked when they were standing).
Work also on crouching Akuma or use too. One combo that is worth investigating in my opinion
is c.mp, c.mp, st.mp xx tatsu. Its like a replacement of the 3x c.mp but work against lot of standing opponent
and does more dammage.
Normal ones, yeah. EX fireball is all around faster. Normal ones start 13 frames recover 32, EX has 12 frames of startup and recovers in 28 frames, so it’s nice to use in close quarters because it’s safe and travels fast. In comparison, Akuma’s start in 14, recover in 30, EX or not.
This may sound more like a rant rather than a question but, I’ve gotten up to 1000 pp which isn’t a lot at all but I’m not facing lower ranked ppl anymore and when I fight ppl with higher points I tend to get my ass handed to me. So my question is, in you guys opinion what does it take to play Ryu at a higher level ?.
Spacing. It seems kinda like every Ryu player hits a wall at some point,I know I did and I was at that point for a very long time. When you get to a point where you feel like you aren’t getting any better, start refining your spacing. What I like to do is head to training for one character per day,and measure out spacing of that characters longest pokes, how far away I can throw a fireball and still DP if they jump, ect.I write down notes on all of those things,as well as watching high level Ryu players like Valle or Daigo play that matchup and obsever the spacing they try to keep during the match to turn the match in their favor. To measure the spacing I use the super meters on the bottom of the screen, using where my front foot needs to be on or around the meter on my side of the screen. You have to take two different measurements at least, one for midscreen and one when your opponent is in the corner.
Also, try to make sure your anti-air DPs are extremely on point.
