I really appreciate this, and it really helps. Time to hit training mode, thanks again!.
Quick questions:
Which matchups are better with U2?
Also, how to use it during those mathups (if any)?
None. U1 is always better. Maybe the only exception is against Fei Long, a 7-3 matchup in Fei’s favor where you want Fei to respect your wakeup when you get knocked down by rekkas. You won’t use it in matchups except maybe to anti-air as it is not easily combo’able and completely disregarded for U1, which is a lot better and can be linked from 10 or so different setups.
here in this forum have a lot of people comment and writing here
I have a lot of Ryu’s BnB’s down, but I have no idea how to set them up in real matches. I can do them in training mode but that’s it. Are there any setup tutorials available that would help me get a basic idea to set people up so I make them fall into my combo’s rather than how it is now where players pretty much beat themselves through self made errors and I get a chance combo opportunity.
Why does it seem like Kens MP DP auto corrects better than Ryu if Ryus has a faster start up? When I get knocked down by Ibuki’s Kens MP SRK auto corrects and Ryu doesn’t, do I have to do it earlier or later?
If your srk is going on the wrong side you have to do it later. If getting going stuff your doing it to late
Hey guys I’m a Sakura main but lately I’ve been wanting to play Ryu! You guys have a great thread here and I really appreciate all the info given for new comers…
Ryu is bad, match-up is too well known to play him now. I need to play your Sakura for match-up experience to prepare for EVO. I’m located in SoCal, I’ve seen you on Cross Assault and various other places.
I’m in Ohio but I’m online I’ll be at Evo also…
Ohio fuck, that’s all the way on the East Coast so we’ll lag. I really need the match-up experience, you know any other Sakura’s near me?
Wassup guys just a quick question about Ryu’s solar plex combos. After the solar plex I’m trying to do crouching fierce but it never connects on time to continue the combo. Do I have to plink the the crouching fierce or is it more so about timing ?
That’s a 1 frame link iirc. You can use st. MK, cr. MP or cr. LP instead to make it easier. At the cost of some damage of course.
You have to p-linking , and use the right timing. P-linking with c.hp + c.mp + c.lp is the best way to do it
how far should i fire my hadouken ultra or super to my opponent that is still under the state of cannot be dodged through neutral jumps
thanks
Full screen if you must use it… but never ever just throw it out there. It can be comboed in about 10+ different unique ways so combo into it instead.
Speaking about Ultra 1 - how is the tatsu possible after Ultra 1 as seen here at 3m 50secs.
Anyone ?

It’s from a trade ultra. Ryu was hit by a sonic boom and was knocked out of his recovery frames after he performed the ultra. An immediate tatsu can be combo’d into the 8 ultra hits in this situation.
Ok, so I realize this is a complicated question: how do you play keep-away with Ryu in SF4? I played him in ST, had no problems there. But with the fireball-sweep trap removed, I’m lost.
-Fireball at long range? Opponent easily neutral jumps.
-Close range? They either get a jump attack in or I SRK.
The range where your opponent will land just outside your SRK is the worst. Its here where I’m afraid to throw a fireball because of those stupid long-reaching jumps, and because of this lose my pressure game. Its maddening. Need tips.
Ah thanks, yeah I see the sonic boom coming towards him knocking him out of recovery now. Makes sense.
