Ryu General Discussion Thread: Frame Data, Strategies, Combos, etc

Honestly me I never do this combo in game, I never seem to be in position to do it or I never have time to hit confirm hit. After jump in if you know your attack is going to connect you better go with c.hp xx srk or s.fp xx srk or whatever big attack. Must of the time you dont know if its going to be blocked or not so you have to go into c.lk c.lp type of stuff to get your hit confirm. Its defeanetely easier to to get c.lk c.lp c.fp xx srk from a jump in since you will often end up closer to your opponent.

I wouldn’t suggest using that combo. The reason being is that is only 20 dmg more than c.hp xx tatsu, and if you want to cancel the srk to ultra, the c.hp is voided out due to scaling. C.lp, c.lp, srk xx fadc, ultra is as good a damge you’ll get with your ultra off of a hit confirm like that.

As for when to try those hit confirms, that really comes mostly down to experience. People can tell you when to do them, but it still requires timing, so it will take a lot of trial and error to get down. Try moving forward and hit confirming after a sweep or throw, after air resets, and to punish attacks with quick recovery(stuff that you could possibly mistime your punish). The idea is to get the c.lk so that it hits as soon as they get up or reset out of the air. When it’s timed correctly, jabs won’t beat it out. Nothing except a move with invincible startup will beat out a well timed meaty.

Can someone help me with the timing of the f. FP, d. FP, Shoryuken link? I just can’t get the d. Fierce to combo.

I can give you a trick I don t use often especially against good Shoto( as they can DP you) but it can make you win round…

after SLS go for cr.mp cr.hk as a non techable wake up combo then jump and air tatsu to make it a cross up follow by super.

it it works after sls you just made more than 600 damage. that a lot…not to use evey day but it can defenetly work.

I use my middle finger for this. I use my Pointer, Middle and Ring finger to play, maybe thumb occasionally if i feel i’m going to crouch OS alot. I think Daigo has the same sort of hand positioning, [media=youtube]i3PnyqEy1n8[/media] . Funny, one of the youtube comments said that Daigo uses the 4th triple buttons for ex commands, didn’t know that.

So yea, SSF4. Played a little bit today and CH c.mp, shinsho works. Just gotta find setups

btw, i don’t know what changed just yet. if SRK floats them higher or ultra comes out faster, but i have to delay ultra considerably when doing fadc forward ultra.

i’ve fadc dashed BACK and ultraed (NOT CORNER) and it hit also. makes ambiguous crossup dp fadc ultra much easier.

I have trouble landing deep anti air shoryuken’s with the fierce punch, anyone else have the same issue? Most of the time it trades and I’m like “umm… ok”. Should I switch to jab srk for deep srk’s or am I screwing up somehow?

Jumping Fierce is a crossup! I was testing out trial 24 and I stumbled upon doing so. tediuous, but real.
