ryus Fhp is 0 on block so you can either throw, do a srk, whatever.
some interesting tid bits on Ryu:
7 hit hadoukens build 1 bar of meter
7 wiffed lp srks build 1 bar of meter
6 blocked cr. fk xx fb build 1 bar of meter
4 cr. fk xx fb build 1 bar of meter
3 cr. sp, cr. rh builds 1 bar of meter
2 cr. sp, cr.fk xx rh HK builds 1 bar of meter
2 st. fp xx fp srk builds 1 bar of meter
he may have a ground combo that does full meter, considering f+fp, cr. XX fp SRK builds 90-95% meter.
cheers.
fhp clp chp frsrk or hk.tatsu. is a good one to add to sir.
Yeah but there’s this guy I played with for casuals, and he would do a sps > crossup everytime he had meters. I wouldn’t be sure whether to try to tech a possible throw or block his safe srk. There has to be like some sort of poke or something that would stuff sps.
cr.mk will stuff it.
also you can backdash after the SPS to minimize guessing.
or reaction neutral jump/back jump to catch crossup attempts.
so your saying he would do FHP FADC then cross up or just FHP then just up??? lol im not sure if i understand what you are saying Mingo lol, like scourge said c.mk will stuff it since it hits low. and do NJ, or just reaction jump backwards HP or HK. dont mean to steal scourges thunder on this either lol.
scrouge advise is good, c.mk will stuff it as well as any other normal
sps has 17 startup frames, so basically if you use crouching attack you will have maximum 12 frames or 11 to be safe to counter poke it.
the good thing about c.mk is that it covers good distance and cancelable to specials.
if you are not confidence about counter poking it, you can block and follow scourge second advise that is backdashing, you may get caught if he did hp srk on his way up, you will get hit if he did tatsu, ex hadou, super or ultra. but you should be able to shoryuken after your backdash if he follows up with jump in
or if you definitely know he is going to jump, you can do scourge 3rd advise or do a c.hp
Ok thanks for the info. I tested out the possible situations. Btw Rsnake I meant like he would do sps > throw, or sps > srk > fadc.
If sps > throw
Backdash gets beat
Any jump makes the throw whiff
If sps > early srk (proper link)
I cannot input any commands as I’m still in blockstun
If sps > late srk (not linked)
Backdash and any jump gets beat
Backdash should make the throw whiff, also. EX srk will beat his late srk.
ryu is strange, he can be throw during back dash…
not all animation but a bart of is back dash is actually throwable. and worst is that you can t unthrow…
Yeah, there is a non-airborne, non-invincible frame mid-backdash for a number of the cast. Other than ryu, there’s: akuma, claw, dhalsim, fei long, gen, gouken, honda, rufus, sakura, seth
For all those characters, they’re throwable on frame 9 of the backdash. Shiro, a very good able, has actually started to make use of this in his mixup game. Despite there only being one frame available.
What is the advantage of c.lp c.lp s.lp c.hk compared to c. mp c. mp c. hk for example?
The first combo only has a link, and the second one has 2 links.
The c.mp, c.mp link is actually pretty easy. If difficulty is a concern.
It can be difficult to tell if you can get both c.mp off sometimes due to distance. And the lp chain is a true blockstring (before the c.hk) While you’ll leave an opening between two blocked c.mp. Both have their advantages, really.
another advantage is that the c.lp’s will definitely work after j.mk cross over (opponent is standing) while c.mp’s is character specific
So, I’ve just been doing SPS > SRK for a while, but I want to try using SPS > cr.HP xx SRK. Maybe I’m reading the frame data wrong, but it says SPS is +4 on hit, and cr.HP has 4 frames of startup. Does that mean it is a 1-frame link, or does that mean it hits on the 5th frame and only works on counter hit?
Same with cr.MP cr.MP cr.HK. Is MP to MP a 1- or a 2-frame link, and MP to HK a 1-frame link or impossible and only 1-frame on CH?
I haven’t actively used frame data much so it’s mostly Greek to me. Thanks in advance.
The second hit of the SPS invalidates counter hits, unfortunately.
The sf4 frame data you see has been formatted so that the startup indicates the first active frame. So the c.hp does hit on the 4th frame. And it is a one frame link.
c.mp, (2f) c.mp, (1f) c.hk
Thanks, that makes sense. I’m using the data on Eventhubs, btw.
I always feel that Ryu build meter with hadoken slower than any other fireball characters in SF4, it just might be true.
He really doesn’t need to build meter faster honestly imo
