I didn’t know what vandutch was talking about was new info.I thought it was just really hard so no one did it often lol. Good find on the standing mk making it work across the board though, I had no idea about that
Vanilla point blank EX FBs are not only hard to link into ultra, but also not practical at all, because a situation to use them never occurs. That’s why noone used that link.
This one on the other hand is totally practical, on top of easing the link.
For example, people do safe j.HPs all the time, so j.HP, st. MK xx EX FB, link ultra is much more useful in a match. The only downside (well, nothing is free) is you need to commit to the EX FB even on block (can’t fall back to canceling into a normal FB, cause it’s punishable from up close).

one string i do often is c.jab, s.mk. it beats throw-techs and random jabbers *cough boxers *cough
now that i don’t need 50% for fireball fadc, i’ll use that more often in midscreen situation to connect to ultra.

k… so I dunno if this is news to everyone or not, but I just realised that you can link normals to EX FB andultra without bar. So far ive doneit with s.mk, s.mp, c.lp,c.lk and s.lp… spacing is tight, but with the hit confirm and no bar it seems like a pretty cool trick.

Newbie here lol I think I found a glitch not sure I was trying out a combo ending with lk tatsu it was j. fk cr. mk lk tatsu and most of the time it ends with mk tatsu and im like wtf cause I know im not pushing the same button twice so I tested it out on its own I held down to crouch and hit mk and immediatly did the tatsu motion without hitting mk again and it did the hurricane kick o.O cr. mk and mk tatsu with one button press glitch maybe?
Its not a glitch, it’s called negative edge. To do a special, you can either push the button down to get the move, or have it held down and let it go to do the move. So, you’re doing c.mk, then the qcb and letting go of mk.

It really hard to do link the ultra from the ex fb though, thats why the only time you generally see it is when the opponet is in the corner cause the timing isnt as strict, ie ex fb -> ultra through sagat’s fb. The corner prevents the opponet from flying too far back.
You can do it mid screen I’ve done it a few time, but I find it incredibly situational, and your timing and spacing has to be perfect espeically if you are going to link the ex fb from a normal.
It’s nice to know you can link ex fb into ultra from midscreen with one bar, but that situation is so rare to me, usually I find myself with at least 2 bars whenever I have ultra. Even without bar, ryu can still land ultra from a lot of things.
It’s pretty to see, but I think the FADC’d ex fb offers some extra support and confimability.
I f you could find out all the distances and be able to do it on reaction, it would be a great tool for hitting the ultra, but then you have to worry about damage scaling.
I have to say though, it’s still a great new tool. I took out a Sagat last night who thought he had the match won when he got me in the corner. That sps>mk>EX fb Ultra saved my ass. I bet he had no idea Ryu could combo into the Ultra with only one bar out of the corner. All it took was one whiffed TU to lose him the match.
Sure it’s situational, but what combo into ultra isn’t situational in some way?

There is no such thing as ‘auto-correct Dragon Punch’.
The DP will always go towards your opponent when you hit the punch button, regardsless of which direction you input.
Think of a DP as towards, down, down-towards. If your opponent is crossing you up from the left and you input left, down, down left and then hit the punch button after they cross over your centre line the DP will still go to the right. Or you could do left, down [they corss over] then right+P it’ll come out to the right still because you satisfied the ‘towards, down, down-towards’. Make sense?
in SF4 there is a auto correct lol, if you input the command at right time the game will automatically correct you to the right direction the opponent is goin.
