Ryu General Discussion Thread: Frame Data, Strategies, Combos, etc

Although you can hit the super off a light tatsu in the corner…

I dont get how thats relevant but okay.

u can cross lk tatus into super, you can cmp > lk tatu > super any where the timing is strict on it, and cmk > lk tatsu to super as well… HELL u can link jab into into super

That’s not a super cancel, though. It’s a link. You’re just doing the super when you recover from the tatsu.

how much invincible frames has ryus ultra?

9 frames.

What’s the input/timing for an auto-correct DP?

Going by the above example, it should be :hcf::hp:, right? How strict is the timing? I noticed it didn’t show as a reversal, either.

Is cross-up tatsu DPable every time? My training partner has been able to do it consistently. (He also plays Ryu) But I can do it all day vs. Sagat without risk of it.

is c.lpx3 into c.fierce a chain or a link combo? any suggestions on timing this?
as far as clpx3 c.mk hado goes, is there anything to help the timing? how long did it take you to practice to get it down perfectly? I’ve seen people say “time it the same as you do the c.lp’s”, but seeing as how you can link or chain/mash the c.lps, this hasnt helped me too much :(. thanks for any replies!

Sagat’s dp starts up slower than Ryu’s, so it’s harder for him to hit it.(pretty sure this is why, anyway, I’ve noticed the same thing.)

The c.lp, c.lp, c.lp could be chained or linked, and going from c.lp to c.fp is a link.

When they say time it like the c.lps, they’re talking linked lps. There is definitely a rhythm to it. Trying to explain it really takes to many words, the best advice is to practice a lot with the training dummy on auto block, if the dummy starts blocking in the middle of your combo, you hit a button to late, if an attack in your combo does not come out, you hit a button to early.

has anyone ever had a problem where they can dash out perfectly from 1p side but only 1.4 or 1/5 on the 2p side? i’m not sure if its my stick or what… i bought a madcatz TE today, upgraded from an SE, and I had no problem shoryu-fadc-ultra from 2p side… in fact its always been easier for me from 2p side compared to 1p side. however now on the TE i cant manage to dash out of my shoryu from the 2p side. can anyone give any advice? could it actually be the stick?

its just you probably doing it wayyyyyyy to fast and its not registering.

i just retried it with my SE controller and it works theway it always has, with it registering. does the TE not register as quickly or something? I feel like i’m inputting it he same, is the TE just more/less sensitive or something?

i can dash out of normal focus attacks fine but when i’m focus cancelling i just stand ther focusing and not dashing out

no the TE is a better stick overall. because of the parts are better inside it, you most likely have a malfunction with your stick. id take this up with the tech talk thread and not her since your question doesn’t have anything to do with Ryu at all.

I’m the same way, sorta. I used to have an easier time on the 2P side, but now I’m much more comfortable in the 1P side. If you think about it, the motion of your wrist makes it easier to FADC from the 1P side, or so I feel. Try this: when you try to FADC from the 2P side, try tapping the stick in the corner. It works for me better.

Hello everyone!

do you guys know what chris hu is talking about when ryu does a hurricane kick for option select? at about 3:17

empty jump to tatsu

how is that option selecting?

He did a jumping fierce which woulda missed Andre since he backdashed but he did a tatsu option select to hit him. Godlike, really. Daigo does an option select pretty much everytime he jumps in now.
