I’ll have to watch them again, but I remember it looking to me as if he was clearly off the ground…of course I could be mistaken.
The first hit launches, the second hit launches higher. It’s pretty much his SRK from ST and A2. You can’t FADC on the second hit, but you can on the first(or so it seems). Which means the FADC–>Ultra does less, but the shoryuken itself does better chip damage and has a better chance of hitting. It’s a nerf and a buff all in one.
So basically HP.SRK (1hit) xx FADC xx Ultra still connects Redrapper?
Not trying to sound like a douche; Where did you come across this information if I may ask?
In one of the S-Kill videos they use the HP SRK. I looked at it several times. You can’t FADC when your character is off the ground. His fist hit pops them up, and while they’re off the ground the second hit adds damage. It does slightly more damage than the normal SRK but only when the second hit connects and that’s only a SLIGHT variation in damage(this part I’m not sure about completely, but that’s what it looks like.)
Ryu’s ultra is good because it’s reliable. At base the Ultra does less than his super. At most it’s only a little more. Pretty much you’re getting a nerf and a buff. He’s getting a better Shoryuken, for less damage added to his ultra-- and even then you can just throw out a MP SRK and connect that to Ultra if you really need to. They’re trying to please everyone here.
Anyway, that’s just what I saw. If you don’t believe me, that’s fine. Like I said, I’m working off sight here, and even then it’s not from something off the final build. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but that’s just something that looked pretty evident to me.
If you’re talking about this video, then that’s the MP SRK(no white streak)

This one the other hand is the HP SRK(it has the white streak)

I hate to be repeating myself but alas I will again. The Strong SRK looks like Ken’s current SF4 strong SRK which may mean it can’t be FADC’d after the 2nd hit because it looks like his toes are barely touching the ground. The HP SRK on the other hand looks like Ryu’s current SF4 EX SRK. Watching it repeatedly both feet are still planted on the ground by the time the 2nd hit connects.
What’s strange is that if you watch the 2nd vid(around 31 seconds), Ryu does the MP SRK on Zangief and both feet are still planted by the 2nd hit. So maybe it depends on range or maybe it depends on character hit boxes and the same may go for fierce SRK.
Anyone thinking Ryu needs anything is just hilarious. Like an episode of the Fresh Prince, but without the values.
thats what im wondering.
Having to use MP when mashing out SRK with 2 bars in the bank instead of HP is not a nerf that matters to anyone.

I cannot get over the dope start-up and range of the Mestu Shoryuken…::lol:
has this been posted?

EDIT* I tried my best to get a capture of the range when Ryu actually connects with his fist before going into the animation by scrolling to the 48 sec mark then clicking it to let it loop the scene…I looks as if he is hitting nothing but air with about a c. short distance from her and his fist…AND she’s still in the backdash animation gaining range and she is STILL hit…:looney:
Ryu needs nothing. Very powerful/easy to use. Rest of the cast is dying for tools. Ryu’s living in a deluxe apartment in the sky, and Fuerte and Vega have to go through his garbage just to find enough food to survive.
Actually I think ryu still goes through the garbage even with that apartment in the sky. Hard for him to stop being homeless.
Ya know I think Ryu is actually pretty paid…I mean he carries all the bread in the sack and he’s donating to children in the anime movies…all those damn tournys… True Celebration means nothing to him…The financial debt is ALL… . I think he’s saving to pay off capcom for his buffs from SFIII to SFIV…Ken really pissed him off.
check the SF4 tiers list… . Last i saw, Ryu is now the same tier as Sagat.
Don’t bother. He’s here in the SSFIV forum referencing HD Remix tier lists. Some people just don’t think about what they’re typing. Point is Ryu is god-tier and doesn’t have to work as hard as other characters. Stop asking for unnecessary/unreasonable buffs.
agree totally, in fact, I improved your statement :pleased:
I agree that giving SFIV Ryu a fake fireball would be silly, but that does not mean what you think it means. Please stop butchering our language.
I believe that Ryu and Sagat are a level or two above even the other top tier characters. I can use any descriptive terms I wish to describe that opinion. Your post adds nothing to the issue, other than to call me out on semantics. Boy are you contributing.
A fake fireball is redundant in a game with FADC and doesn’t really help his game much more. I think Ryu’s design is classic and nearly perfect. Only thing I would change is to make Metsu Shoryuken more Satsui, but that is an aesthetic change and has no bearing on gameplay.
But to clarify my statement, look at Ryu’s normals. Easily two or three times better than many characters. Look as his damage potential and hit confirms. Ultra set-ups, etc. I’m sure these things have been mentioned, but I bring them up as a defense of my previous statement. I also believe Sagat falls into this category, but more for his insane damage and priority. Coupled with his health and ultra set-ups make him a couple steps above the majority of the cast.
By the way, if you have an issue with someones semantics, take it up in PMs. Wasting thread space for “language butchering” is pathetic.
So, it seems that the first hit launches, and one of those hits WILL be FADC-able. Looks like the king retains his throne.
