Ryu changes in SSFIV thread

Ryu does not need his hp.srk from Hyper Fighting. Absolutely complete ass. If you weren’t deep enough, you’d get the first hit raw, and he’d just go flying into the air without a knockdown.

Metsu Shoryuken is powerful.

It’d be nice if he got nerfed alittle bit, but for the most part Ryu is just really good not quite overpowered. Same with Sagat, outside of the fact that he hits really hard on almost every attack for no logical reason.

I’d actually make the difference between Ken and Ryu a bit more discerning, his fireballs seeing a signifcant buff but a bit of a nerf to his DP, still let it link to Ultra but only the first one, which is about as damaging as a flesh wound from the scaling when its all said and done. Metsu Shoryuken looks like its a monster, but because its clearly a counter move, I’d be content to not see very many ways to link it, period.

When its all said and done, Ryu really didn’t need anything. For the character that is usually the face of street fighter, Ryu is really well done, playable by just about anyone, and all around solid.

I’d like to go two matches without seeing him standing there using a million fireballs and DP’s, but Street fighter wouldn’t be the same if they did the logical thing and nerf him.

I’m sorry if this is already mentioned, but players in the Zangief thread were complaining about Zangief’s ability to have access to both his Super and his Air Ultra for serious damage. It just occurred to me that wouldn’t be even worse for Ryu since not only does he still have his Fireball Super, but with his Shoryu Ultra he should be even more dangerous then he was before. Also considering that it’s a lot easier for Ryu to charge super than Zangief could.

an 11 frame anti-air with a 100% bar super that can be punished by a jump-in from anywhere but point blank with a jump is not synergy …

Welcome to Akuma’s and Ken’s world. It’s obvious that he doesn’t need it, this is a clear nerf and it’s a good one.

Will Capcom ever make up their mind about his Shoryuken doing 1 or 2 hits? :lol: That changes like every game.

Well, if Ryu’s HP SRK is split 80-80 and you can’t FADC the 2nd hit, looks like his MP SRK will finally have a good use. That will be his main DP on the ground for DP>FADC>ultra.

If you use Akuma’s HP SRK for a deep AA you still get all 3 hits and any of the can be FADC’d. If Ryu’s 2hit DP is the same, and both hits can be cancelled, that’s actually a huge buff for Ryu. That just make’s his DP easier to hit confirm and a good way to beat FA’s.

If only the first hit can be cancelled, than that is a bit of a nerf on ultra setups but still good against FA.

You can FADC from either of the two hits with Ryus Fierce DP, and its the second hit that knocks you down not the first one. As for the the damage scaling could not really see a difference maybe a little more or less, and the priority seemed to have the same properties as SF4.

I actually agree with this fellow right here, everytime I see this thread I think about it… Ryu is the most solid character in the game, top of the list, he has everything he needs. Links, ultra, pokes, specials. If anything…He should get nerfed, but definitely not buffed.

His metsu shoryuken seems cool too, It seems faster then Ken’s Version, and Im sure it will fully connect after a fadc (unlike kens) Then again if you anti-air light srk, he might be to far for the srk to sometimes hit.

I wonder why they made his fierce 2 hits, Im almost sure you can still FaDc the second hit, so its just gonna be a good thing, a more or so hit confirm before FADCing

Considering the second hit of his FP SRK connected when he was very blatantly off the air (almost towards the top of the screen) I’m going to go with no, he cannot FADC the second hit of it. There’s a very large gap between hit one and two.

so did anyone confirm if you can srk fadc to full 2nd ultra? or is it like kens and get a partial ultra.

So, just to confirm, hit one causes both characters to leave the ground, hit two connects while both characters are in the air?

When Ryu Metsu SRK’s Rose here you can see the damage. I guess the move visually starts out epic, then kinna fizzles out. You see the damage and I guess it reflects that. Def not as much damage as the Shin SRK from SF3.

I thought that SRK’s were supposed to become easier to deal with? Now we have a 2 hit armour breaking fierce srk?

The bar is barely half full and it already does good damage. If it was a full bar, it would DEFINITELY do a lot of dmg.

Man, they do this with every fighting game. LOL
