I could agree with that, though I don’t know how you would really fix that because *SF4 itself *is pretty easy.
The only thing you could do is give more complex characters better tools and more reward for pulling there harder techniques off.
Dunno about the rest of the posts, but my comments were basically Ryu is very good and in no way not beatable. He’s a very good character to show off how good you are at the game itself.
I do think some things are bogus like trade Ultra and ease of use. But those things are likely to be helped with buffs and nerfs in Super bro.
if you think ryu is easy to win with at a high level you are retarded. he can do big damage but he’s ALL fundamentals. if your footsies and zoning aren’t up to scratch you’re not going to win with ryu.
If you think Ryu is harder to win with than the other tourney viable characters at high level (minus Rufus) then the same applies to you.
Regardless of what his playstyle is based around.
Regardless of how difficult YOU think fundamentals are.
There are other characters that relies on zoning and footsies that still take more skill than him, even if that difficulty gap is marginal; Sagat and Akuma come to my mind.
This isn’t a stab at Ryu either, I’m just letting you know that the easiest of any group can be called ‘easy’ without question.
I can understand you saying that Akuma is harder to play than Ryu, but I CAN’T understand why you would think Sagat is like that. He only has a couple of even matches–everyone else, he beats clean. Then there are a couple of character that he OWNS.
Think about it this way: As a Ryu player, you have to learn how to properly fight Blanka, Dhalsim, Zangief, Balrog etc…theyre all really complex matchups where the opponent has serious advantages against Ryu.
Sagat just does so much damage you just have to find out how to land his ultra. Its a little different. He doesnt require the same kind of carefulness against most of the cast IMO.
You really don’t understand what he’s talking about. He’s talking about difficulty to use in terms of how difficult it is to play the character to their full potential. For example, Claw is incredibly linear and easy to use, which is partly his problem in being an assy character. He may have to work hard since he’s garbage, but he’s easy has fuck to pick up. Sagat on the other hand is actually harder than most think to use to his full potential. He may be powerful as fuck, but he’s not an easy mode character.
I understand where you’re coming from, but please don’t mistake “ease of use” with strength.
If we’re only comparing Ryu to Sagat in this instance, think about this:
The only thing identical thing they both have would be vertical zoning (in a sense).
Horizontal zoning is a bit different; Sagat has 6 projectile options he has to correctly choose from, while Ryu has only 3. Who’s gonna be choosing correctly more often?
And footsies; low forward xx hadoken + strong, strong, low roundhouse links … nuff said
Ryu is the easiest of the tourney viable characters (minus Rufus (and maybe Balrog to satisfy that guy who thinks so)). He may not be braindead easy, but no one has the right to claim that he isn’t easy or one of the easiest, regardless of which level of play.
Give everyone a 3-frame jab that links to damaging combos, a mashable hitting reversal with invincibility frames, a safe offensive move on block (e.g., tiger knee, tatsu) then watch Ryu (and Sagat) go back to normal-tier character rankings.
Before people get mad at me … I was somewhat joking, but somewhat truthful.
I don’t think Ryu is OP… it’s just that he’s the most complete character in the game – which gives people the perception that he’s OP.
No, he really does have some bullshit that needs to go. EX tatsu is way too good and way too safe. Trade DP ultra is bullcrap. Lp shoryu has too little recovery. Jump out air tatsu is way too good at escaping corners.
I think that’s it. I would say other than that he’s okay but seriously that shit up there is just nonsense.
Whatever, then replace Claw with Dan, better? I don’t know why you would disagree, there’s not much to Claw, which is one of the many reasons why he sucks sack.
Edit: Oh, I just saw your post history. You main Claw, of course you think he’s the hardest character to use ever and the shittiest. Lol, everybody thinks their main is shittier then they really are and takes the most skill to use, unfortunately that’s not reality, at least for most characters.
One thing I would change on ryu is the hitbox length of his jump forward HK, that shit has insane reach and can stuff anything.
He needs more recovery frames on just about all his special moves and some normals. I can’t see how people call him a complete character, hes overpowered in the sense that all of his moves are safer then they should be imo.
I find it funny because the same people call Seth a broken or overpowered character, when all of his moves, absolutely all of them are not safe at all to use without some form of hitconfirming/comboing (which takes some skill to do atleast unlike ryu’s little combos).
Wrong, dude. I’m not arguing that he doesn’t suck. There’s no point in that. I’m just wondering where you get the idea that Vega’s incredibly easy to pick up and play when compared to somebody like Ryu, with better basic options and tools than Vega will probably ever have. Also, don’t bring the “mainers think their character is hardest to play” nonsense to me. I play Vega, Zangief, Ken and a few others so that’s also pointless.
