Ryu changes in SSFIV thread

Lol, If you actually read my post I said this game was balanced, just less so then what people think. You even mirrored me on what changes need to be made to the characters none, except less damage for Sagat. Justin is a fucking incredible player, but he’s miles ahead of U.S. players. He wouldn’t get far with fei in Japan. Daigo had never played a Fei before Justin and still pushed his fucking shit in. Justin beats people with Fei in the same way I beast shitty Sagats with Vega.

hf, st

Nah man you don’t even make sense, in your post you said there could be a chart showing how unbalaced this game really is and then you said it’s not as balanced as people think. Yeah…pretty sure that was you lololol. Now you’re saying it is balanced? I think you are the one who needs to go back and read your own post.

My only real claim that was this game is not as balanced as people seem to think. That doesn’t mean it’s not a fairly balanced game relative to a lot of other fighting games. This is the last time I respond to troll posts, enjoy getting the last word in.

Hit the nail on the head good sir. While there is a huge wealth of talent in America , the Sagats ive seen or played against seem sub par compared. Like their using him in the wrong way. Alioune definitaley has a better Sagat then anyone in America. Thats a certain. Also to the Sagat player above me saying rose is a 8-2 for Sagat. Go play luffy086 and then tell me how good that match is. 6-4 is spot on.

uh

it’s been less than a year at this point. i think there are a lot more o/s style things or goofy setups that would have widened the gap between top and bottom tiers were the game given more time to mature. in fact new vortex-style option selects for seth have been found in the past two weeks. if they every become well known or widely used they will alter seth’s matchups a good deal.

i’m sure 3s seemed pretty balanced for a while, too.

it’s just that very few people are playing or thinking at the level that imbalances games.

Please feel free to link those videos because I can’t find any GOOD videos of Alioune playing. Most of them are shaky hand held cam videos that make me nauseous.

Are there videos of him playing well known and respected players?

Lol you’re still delusional. It’s balanced, almost no character is useless. See you follow tier charts, I don’t do that anymore. I’ve been shown that it’s what you do with the character not by what’s show in stats. You just don’t see it cause you play Sagat

From what I could find… and sorry if the qualitys not great

Alioune v Ricky TTT (sbo winner)

Alioune v a Ryu player

You guys need to stop doing youtube theory fighter on who would beat who.

Ryu is just like ST very good but very beatable.

Ranix, I don’t know you, but you know me… and when did we play offline SF4?

your logic makes no sense - the best player in america uses fei successfully and the character is no longer relatively “ass”?

Having a chance of winning is not the same thing as balance. If characters have no chance of winning, that’s a broken game. SF4 isn’t broken obviously, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t stand to be more balanced by tweaking the characters that have a greater chance of winning against the rest of the cast.

Dude you live on fucking fantasy islad where you want everything perfect. I’ll say it again STREET FIGHTER 4 IS THE MOST BALANCED STREET FIGHTER IT NEEDS ALMOST NO TWEAKING

You have more experience than any of us. How do you feel about the current match up chart? Do you feel that Ryu is even with most of the cast? Do you think Rose has a 6-4 with Sagat, lol?

Hyper Fighting and 3rd strike are both more balanced, competitive Street Fighters than SF4. In SF4 it’s just that everyone’s so weak and limited that everything seems fair. It’s not that Ryu and Sagat are broken are overpowered, they’re not. They just happen to be among the few characters that seem finished. Many of the others just seem incomplete, like Fei Long or Rose.

^lol @ 3s is more balanced.

Also, by what definition are those games more competitive? Back in there day? Most of the street fighter community is playing sf4 right now, regardless of whether it’s a good fighting game or not. Doesn’t that make it a more competitive street fighter?

I really don’t believe in ranking charts to be honest.

When it comes down to it, you are beating the player not the character.

Wong Fei resetting a set vs Daigo Ryu.

Kuroda Q beating Nuki Chun at SBO.

etc. etc.

Who is really winning the character or the player?

Don’t let your peers dictate who a good/unbalanced/bad character is…

If they are complaining, they’re not trying hard enough.

3S isn’t more balanced on an absolute sense though that doesn’t really matter in an absolute sense either. People still play Hugo and Remy in tournaments and still do decently with them. Just like people still put a big hurting on them with better characters. Does that really matter in the grand scheme of things? No. Just like how people still think Marvel is a really fun game even though Toby McGuire and Hugh Jackman suck shit and that practically should be against the law.

Like CaliPower said though…if you want it bad enough you’ll take the character through. No matter what the statistics say. I think that’s what people lost with SFIV. They’re worried too hard on everyone being perfectly balanced characters when the only way to do that is to make Ryu the only selectable character. Which I’m sure some of you would be perfectly fine with.

Just play a game because it’s fun and let Capcom do the work from there. I personally was not a huge fan of SFIV though not everyone was a huge fan of CVS1 either and CVS2 turned out to be a much more solid game. I’ll give Super it’s chance just like I gave CVS2 its chance to redeem what I didn’t like about CVS1. With an ideal situation it will be a game where like Guilty Gear…all of the characters have particularly powerful things and can all at least compete with each other to a decent extent. I think that’s the best you’re going to get though unless they keep the characters as dry as they are in Vanilla SFIV which I don’t think they plan on doing. Cuz then Guile, Vega and Rose will be very limited for all eternity.

More competitive as in there were more options, more interesting ways to get around the other player. 3rd strike was more balanced whether you like it or not. Parries let weaker characters fight the yuns and chuns of the world with a fair chance of winning if they had the skill. There’s no dominant Sakura players in SF4, but people win with lower-mid tier characters all the time in 3rd strike because they predict their opponents and out think them.

A lot of the time SF4 comes down to who holds down their gameplan the longest and has the strongest combo built into their character. 3rd strike was more dynamic.

I’m not complaining about the characters in SF4, I play Fei and I think Ryu and Akuma and Sagat are perfectly fine the way they are. I just think that the overall 3rd strike system provided for more opportunities for players to do their own thing. Hopefully Capcom expands on the current system in the upcoming iterations, though.

I see, thanks for responding to my questions.
