Ryu changes in SSFIV thread

Again, huge misunderstanding on your end. It hits towards the end of Ryu’s Lp.srk’s active frames which means!!! shock horror That he ends up +frame advantage on block. He recovers in 24 frames, the first 14 frames are his ascent in which all of them are active frames. The remaining 10 is him descending to which he is vulnerable. Srk puts you in 20 frames of block stun. At best, he recovers 1/6th of a second faster than you do.

It’s not punishable if done right.

In ST he can do this only when spaced far enough away that he barely knicks them. Any advantage from this is nullified by his distance.

By what you are saying, is he close enough to do anything?

Quoted for Truth

But he’s not a bad one…

After he beats you up, he becomes your friend…

Tell this to a Ken player?! lol…:annoy::annoy::annoy::annoy:

Capcom knows probably better than we do who needs buffs/nerfs bro…I’m sure they are not gonna nerf the poster boy of SF too much, and Chun is also a fan favorite, I expect her and Dee Jay to be two popular characters in the new one.

I find it pretty reassuring though when it comes to SSF4. Most of the forums/fan sites are unanimous when it comes to what they dislike/like about the engine. Definitely on who needs to be nerfed/buffed, and average/top players alike agree on a lot. I think it’s gonna be a really balanced game.

Give Ken back his SRK Baby! Had to throw that in there;)

He’s point blank…obviously he can’t combo anything off of it, it’s a knockdown, but it’s quite the nasty wake-up pressure tool. It’s deceptive in that you assume he’s thoroughly whiffed his SRK, only to still stuff anything you throw at him. I’ve learned by now, but that doesn’t make the situation any less shitty.

Is he close enough to do anything after you block it?

Not really, but he’s safe and the situation is reset. He’s left with frame advantage but at that point crouch blocking is pretty safe.

One thing that I really miss with Ryu in this game is his, sidekick from Third strike.
It was amazingly satisfying to start off a meaty combo with a fat kick to the stomach.
if Ryu needs anything, just because it’s fun and visually appetizing. He needs that.

check some combos here, sweet one at 1:20.

That being said, he’s already top tier as you lads say, and he definetely doesn’t need a double damage hadouken

Actually alot of people would like to see his mule kick to return. I am one of them. Give and take is all, give and take.

Missed this. Wouldn’t alternating your get up times (quick or normal get up) negate this whole situation? In theory, it sounds great but, in practice it sounds like theory fighter.

**Because you’re bad at this game.

Good shit. More ego. Yeah. **

That’s called circular reasoning. If you seriously pump your ego up discussing online videogames it must suck to be outside

**
just as a side note re: balrog, his ultra does less damage from a headbutt juggle than ryu’s, and headbutt sucks compared to srk (four times the startup and low vulnerable! and you need a charge!). **

Someone noticed, nice. Anyone also notice how sooo many people complain about how sagats jumping mp has such a high amount of active frames but ryu’s lp SRK is A-Ok? I’ve never ever seen someone argue that sagats jumping elbow is fine when someone says it should be nerfed, and it’s alot easier to deal with that than it is for what ryu has.

Just pointing that out, because double standards are pretty interesting.

Actually alot of people would like to see his mule kick to return. I am one of them. Give and take is all, give and take.

So what’s ryu going to give since, going by the way they made him in this game, I wouldn’t be surprised if he got his mule-kick or fake hadoken? People don’t want to adjust the frame data if they play ryu it seems, so what’s going to happen?

There is nothing wrong with sagat’s jump strong. Yes, its very good, but its not unbeatable…in fact it can be quite punishable depending on what character you play.

I’m not the person complaining about that move, I just notice that a ton of people complain about it and noone opposes them

Yeah, I have heard people complain. I think I even commented once about how its hitbox is ridiculously good.

A few weeks later I figured out how to counter it with a few characters and now its not that hard for me to deal with…but I won’t lie, it has one of the best aerial hitboxes in the whole game.

Maybe it is, I have no actual way of telling. All i know is that back before the game had even come out for PC, I borrowed my friends PS3 went to practice and made sure i got the crouch fierce and lk flashkick timing down to counter that move, so now i have no problem with it.

I’m more likely to get stuffed by ryu’s jumping hard punch than i am by that move, and if the elbow does get me i blame it on my bad timing. It makes sense that the move should have that many attacking frames imo, and i can’t help but think that it will never hit me at all once Guiles flashkick gets buffed

Naw, It feels great to be outside. Takes me two minutes to jump on the thread and pick up my ego. Yeah.

It’s fun hearing kids whine about shit that’s easy to circumnavigate.

But good shit. Free Ego. Yeah.

?? Are you guys done making out yet? Back to ryu.

ex tatsu will be fixed…this is a no brainer, no more walk out of it for free

mule kick drools

this would be awesome shin shoruken setup if they allow it to be combo’d off an ex version of it with the new wall bounce mechanic

How do you guys feel about a fake fireball? With all the Alpha characters getting in, it would be nice for him to have his move from that game.

**It’s fun hearing kids whine about shit that’s easy to circumnavigate. **

Heh, like ryu’s lack of options in the game?

**?? Are you guys done making out yet? Back to ryu. **

Well alot of the post buddy responded to was about ryu, what are you willing to lose again?

I really don’t want him to have that move.

Its hard enough to fight him as Chun, Abel, Gen, or Cammy (all characters that have tools designed to go straight through fireballs) without the fake fireball.

If you have to wait until you know if the fireball is real or not (as opposed to reading his stance/movement which happens many frames before the fireball appears), that is too late to counter his fireball with a LOT of moves.

I think that is the primary reason he didn’t get it in the first place, it ruins the options of too many characters versus Ryu…options that they absolutely need to balance out the match.
