Well, at least the info is out there. Just a matter of time until someone starts making charts.
U2>u1
Once the game has been explored deep enough, U1/U2 is gonna be just based on matchups.
Theli: can you please look up how much invincibility does hp srk and ex srk have? Thanks
Like I said, hp srk has 2 frame invincibility now. There’s a small chance that the kanji I read means something completely different to full invincibility, but I doubt it given the other srk and framedata.
EX retains 16 frames.
I’m at work and don’t have the guide with me right now. But my memory wouldn’t fail me on something like ryu’s srk.
Even so, I still have a feeling U1 will remain the main ultra in tournament play. U2 is too situational to really be of general use.
hey could ryu always lp dp, mp dp in the corner, off the ground?
Ops spaced the HP LOL Thanks man, I really appreciate it
Ok so here are my two cents so far.
Ryu is still very solid as long as you play to his strengths. But I do have some gripes. Balrog can still trade headbutt to ultra for big damage. Sagat can too. Not to mention Dudley. And I can’t even trade dp to ex fb if I’m not close enough
You have to have a very solid footsie game to play Ryu. The hard part is that Ryu has normal pokes not anything huge like Balrog or Bison or any of the rest of the cast (Dhalsim, Blanka, Juri, Cody, etc.). So footsie is VERY important. Sometimes for example if you feel Balrog is going to stick out a st.fierce or cr.roundhouse, you can jump over those pokes.(Just like people will jump over Ryu’s fb or cr.roundhouse) But if your timing or judgement is wrong Balrog can mash out headbutt and if it trades, go into ultra. Which is fine. It’s my fault for guessing or timing my attack wrong. But why can’t Ryu do it any more if others can do it??
Ryu was a 5/5 matchup with the majority of the vanilla cast even with all the stuff they nerfed. So why intentionally weaken those even matchups and make them worse. Don’t tell me Ryu is a 5/5 with them now. Cuz he is not.
I never understood why they were nerfing him so much. I still don’t.
One word… DAIGO.
I honestly believe that Daigo is the reason Ryu got the nerfs he did, too many people complaining about how strong Ryu is, yet Sagat has everything Ryu has but with more power… yet we’ve all seen what Daigo does to sagats
Exactly what I said before.
I cant believe Sagat can still Trade U1 and Balrog can Headbutt U1 without using any ex at all!
Still tho, Ryu is strong but the matchups have just become harder.
I was playing against a Guile the other night and normally I would do well against Guile, but this guy was very very good. Is it me or has Ryu’s matchup with Guile become a whole lot harder?
Guile can even keep up with sagat’s tiger shots so damn straight the match up became harder. On top of the other buffs guile recieved plus he can sonic hurricane if you do a fb close range. I’d say the match up became a solid 5-5. Time will tell if that changes
Christ, you’re all a bunch of whiny bitches. Ryu is still amazing.
Ryu is still solid but with those nerfs I would say he is now atleast 6-4 towards balrog (boxer). I’ve always had a hard time in vinilla against him and now they weaked Ryu even more which means not much of a chance unless you’re like Daigo all boxer has to do is crouch all day long and wait for your move, you jump in he c.hp/ headbutt. play poke ground game with fb, he just spaces out with jumpins (his is really good as even on slow reaction he will still hit u, very low jump) or just c.hk… then it comes to the jab all day long no matter what you do lol.
boring and painful -.-
It’s good to see guile being strong again, I used to main him in sf2 ww. I think the fact that the stages have become really wide compared with sf2 means that guile finds it harder to maintain pressure. If guile gets u in the corner it can be really tough. I’m glad the matchups have become harder for ryu, it will just improve ryu players.
Boxer is no doubt a really tough matchup for ryu. He was my hardest matchup in vanilla sf4 and I suspect he’s become even tougher in super. The only weakness boxer has is his weak wakeup game but that only comes in to play if u manage to knock him down. He is a brill character, don’t know how useful his u2 is tho! I love playing against boxer, even if I get my ass kicked.
Ryu vs Balrog is deafeanetly 6-4 for Boxer now ( at least at my level of play)
For me to have success vs Boxer is playing super defensively and then rush down at the right moment.
If I try to spam to many fireball, cmk xx fb etc all Ryu pokes seem to get outpokes.
It remind me playing Blanka a lot where doing nothing and blocking is a big part of the match up.
I have the feeling with Ryu in SSF4 you have to play more of a rush down, close game and simply
Zoning is not enough anymore. Anti-air are not as good and dont do enough dammage, lot of character
can go around the fireballs game easely. On the + side combo and link seem more easy and natural.
so far from my experience, i use u/2 on juri, cammy, guy, ibuki, shotos, im 50/50 with bison and rog, and few others that i forgot to name. It’s already started…
if you have nothing valuable to say then don’t say shit.
Atleast I see I am nto the only one with this in mind, boxer IS my hardest matchup in Vinilla. I tend to lose out to them during the quarter finals in every tournament. Now with these changes it makes it hopeless…
But not giving up I am sure there is a way, I need to improve beyond the boxer player lvl for me to beat them.
really need to watch more vids on top ryu players playing boxer and see if I can find any thing that would help me with teh matchup.
dudley can JU and ultra with no meter LMAO ha ha ha.that ish is crazy
