Ryu changes in SSFIV thread

Jab to sweep timing feels different.

Got to play with Ryu. He seems faster now. From what i experienced he did not get nerfed one bit. I loving his 2 hit shoryukens. lp.srk is good also.
U2 is amazing and basically shuts down the air. The damage scaling from fadc into U2 compared to U1 is not that bad and I would rather have an ultra that can punish and control the air then one that i can more easily combo into. U1 is not a good punishing ultra.

Other notes. I abused c.lp, c.mp, and c.mk. along with his fireballs. ABUSE IT!!

Focus attacks are better. They are a lot more useful and you can punish wiffed moves easier.

The game is smoother.

I like Dee Jay because he feels like ryu but in charge form.

Jab to sweep timing does feel different. Feels easier, actually. SPS FADC combos feel different too. I need to retool those.

Are my fireballs faster, or am I just imagining things?

They definitely feel faster. Maybe it has something to do with the game being faster?

My observation from 1 hour in the Dojo,

-c.lp (c.mp) , c.hp, Srk seems easier

-c.mp , c.mk seem harder

-c.lp , c.mk seem easier

-Sps, c.hp xx srk seem easier

-srk , fadc, ultra seem easier

-lp srk , ultra seem harder

-c.mp , c.hk feel the same

Overall I felt the feeling of Ryu was different but execution wise it felt a little bit easier.

Yeah I definitely agree with F+HP into cr. HP. I swear it seems like they give you a better idea of when to do cr. HP. Meaning when Ryu pulls back his arm it’s almost like it pauses there for a moment to signal when to start pressing buttons. I’ve been nailing it like 7 or 8 out of 10. In Vanilla I probably land it half or a little less then half the time.

I agree. It seemed so much easier that I decided to use it in matches. I missed the link but the simple fact that it felt easier is good.

I think i noticed a smal difference between c.mp and c.mk. Though I never was really good at linking those

I’m not sure if this was already known but i just pulled this combo off anywhere on screen,

cr.HP xx Ex Hado, Ex Tatsu anywhere on screen. if this is old news i guess i suck but it seemed to pull the opponent back in and acted as though you had done a DP, FADC, EX.Tatsu in that it threw them them the opposite direction. seemed to do ok damage and could work it for that extra bit.

Didn’t get enough time to test it more so I doubt you’ll be able to get it from far cr.mk xx EX hado range.

I’ve read on the eventhubs/ryu section that U2 has armour break, but U1 doesnt. Has anybody tested U2’s armour breaking capabilities?

You simply get full animation/dmg if you counter focus with it

Has the buffer for move inputs changed at all? Some stuff I was nailing 100 percent of the time in vanilla are not exactly working in this one. I’ve been getting a crouching normal rather than a FB or Tatsu more frequently. I’ve had more success once I consciously input the move and press the button just a split second later, but it still feels like the buffer window is smaller.

However I can confidently affirm SRK > FADC > Metsu Hado is a hell of a lot easier :smiley:

So who’s idea was it to move all the vanilla sf4 threads to the new forums? Everything here is a complete mess…

so imma give my 2 cents with Ryu.

He did get nerfed. Matches are a bit harder with him now that HP SRK got toned down when it came to invincibility frames. MP has the most priorities so far.

his crispy links are easier to do.

corner ex tatsu MP/HP srk combos

the only things that were taken out was fireball trap and whiff jab srk only guarantees red fireball/super. Ultra doesnt hit.

trade srk, depending on where u land (KNDs) super/ultra/red fireball still hits just harder now.

God damn, your comment literally made my day. I never got the consistency in hitting after solar plexus combos in vanilla. I hope things will be different this time around.

Though I don’t quite understand HOW srk -> fadc -> metsu hado could be easier to execute than in vanilla? I mean, we get delayed pause after hitting srk or what?

U1 is still king IMO.

So Japanese guide confirms 2 frame invincibility for lp and hp srk. And 4 frame for mp srk.

No link. Data comes from the japanese guide I pre-ordered and received from the fedex guy just a little after 9AM today…and my limited understanding of japanese.
