After a few days of testing, Ultra 1 > Ultra 2 still.
U1 is still way more versatile and with meter is more useful during clutch situation. So far the only advantage of U2 is anti air with out meter and during punish. Comboing U2 is kinda like the metsu srk in alpha3, it has to be the right distance, like hitting the tip of your cr. mk >hado > fadc > u2 to connect, thats why you need a long combo before the cr.mk…oh yeah corner only! I doubt it will be useful during clutch situations… I can’t count how many time a simple hit confirm cr.jab saved me from losing in vanilla sf4.
Also, anyone notice how links are much much easier now?
Okay, so i got ssf4 today, and i’ve been testing out Ryu, and has anyone notice that his Haduken comes out slower now… i’m not certain but that’s what it looks like.
Alright, I can’t get cr.mk, fb, fadc u2 to work anywhere on screen with any of the fb strengths, probably just me, but I cannot land it for the life of me.
If i do it mid screen, the u2 will whiff, if i do it in the corner with the maximum poke range for cr.mk, it’ll be blocked, something this strict is definitely not worth doing in real games, i would rather get the u2 out cleanly off an opponent’s error or a meaty jumpin > ultra2
I can however jump in, cr.mp x2, cr.mk, fb, fadc, u2 with more success though.
I can do cmk fb fadc ultra in the corner not with ease but i could do it
no matter how hard i tried there was no possible way i could do it mid screen either
however when i heard the live stream arturo tried to do cmp cmp cmk fb fadc u2 not in the corner
chris hu stated that he already tried that and the only way it would connect was if the cmp was a counter hit
Daigo used Ryu in the capcom stream he pretty much looks and plays exactly the same. NO more trades won’t make Ryu worst and the shoryuken nerf doesn’t matter. Hadouken/Super/Ultra traps aren’t going to change Ryu’s supreme godlyness. So yea…if you decide to stick to Ultra 1 your solid Ultra 2 still needs to be discovered and explored a bit more.
He used Ryu at the beggining of the stream but when he played the toughest opponents(valle, wong) he switched to guile. It’s a sad day for us ryu players
no he did a favor to show the people that guile is good. also does anyone know why ryus fierce DP doesnt work as anti air? it trades even if its deep in ssf4
In a recent interview Seth said that guile is gonna be strong so maybe he did him a favour by playing him. Just shows daigo’s ability that he can pick the new chars and still be competitive. Daigo’s used guile in the past so he already knows how to use him. Time for guile players to get hyped up. I think it’s been decided by various people testing the game that ryus fierce dp should be used in combos whereas his mp dp should be used as his reliable AA. Nobody knows exactly why. Once the frame data gets released we’ll have a better idea. It’s good to see guile is gonna be strong again, I used to main him in sf2 Champ edition.
I don’t know if that matters much and if it has already been mentioned but that thing with EX tatsu where you opponent gets out of it and blocks after getting hit it is still in.
Since Ryu does less damage now (like everybody else) and the matches are going to last a little longer because of it, are we going to be able to build a full super in 1 round more easly and use it for 30% damage (per round)?
