only works in the corner. c.mk xx haouken fadc U2 works. I think Nitro posted a few pages back that you can do it anywher eon screen but the mk has to connect far away. Give it a try and also look at trial 24 so you get an idea.
**Finally, ** how did you get the game? PM me with details and what system you got it for. I am looking for the ps3 version.
Ryu is still a monster though when it comes to punishing whiffs. As long as you can do your one frame links, he can deal 330+ damage on the ground without meter which few if any other characters can do in Super. And with the other top characters being toned down, Ryu’s nerfs don’t seem all that bad either. Nobody is doing 600+ damage anymore it seems unless you have a full Super on top of your full Ultra.
Thanks again Jaie, I love the versatility of U2. I initially thought it would be a pretty crap Ultra but the fact that it becomes active so quickly opens up so many options :-).
On a separate note, I see your from the UK. How on earth did you get hold of super sf4? If your willing to disclose this info then please PM me. I’d love to be able to help the forum test the new possibilites like you guys are doing right now.
Hmm I see, because I was trying c.mk > fb > fadc > u2 at various parts of the screen and it wasn’t even close to connecting. I doubt it will still connect even if c.mk is far but I will try it, thanks. The corner does work like you said so that can come in handy in some situations.
I got a 360 copy from a dude in Miami, not from a store. But people in cali have been getting them from mom and pop stores you just gotta be on the ball and call em. But by far cali had the most pre-release sales.
can’t connect the c.mk>fb>fadc>u2 at all… the only time i’ve ever been able to connect it is by doing the combo in the corner, j.hp, cr.mp x2, cr.mk, fb, fadc, u2 and even then, its like one in 10 attempts :S
Hopefully, c.mk xx fierce fireball xx fadc, U2 is easy to execute and because it only involves 2 hits before the Ultra, damage scaling wont be that bad either. Does the FADC add to the damage scaling or does scaling only take into account moves that create hit stun?
If you manage to pull this off, please let us know what the damage output is on this.
Yep i have tested it. The spacing is really really tight and isn’t something that can be pulled off without a lot of practice and skills. For the majority of us, it won’t be useful in a real match unless you have really good execution. It’s not srk>FADC>Ultra1
Also not sure if it was pointed out somewhere, Ultra2 is comboable from a simple j.HP or j.HK. Just do the Ultra immediately when the HP or HK lands and it doesn’t even have to be a deep hit. Anything that hits the head will go into Ultra2. This is especially useful in cases where you don’t need to hit confirm to know you have landed a jumping attack (ie. jumping over a slow recovery fireball or special moves).
I guess it will take some practice to get the c.mk xx fireball U2 working reliably.
Being able to j.hk/j.hp into U2 is gonna be great.
I think you can OS the j.hk/j.hp, U2 setup to counter wakeup backdash (somebody brought this up with a youtube clip earlier in this thread).
It would be good to see whether the OS would work against wakeup teleports. I suspect it might work againt a wakeup Dictator teleport as his teleport doesnt seem to be as instant as Seth/Dhalsim’s teleport.
Would j.hk/j.hp into U2 come out quick enough against players who like to use Focus attack as an AA?
Just tested this with Fei Long (having one of the better FAs in the game). If they absorb the j.hp/j.hk and release the FA to counter hit, they will find themselves 15 metres up in the air HOWEVER, if they dash away, the Ultra2 whiffs. You cannot option select U2 vs FA->dash back tactics… or maybe against those characters who have crappy back dash, it might be possible. It didn’t work on FeiLong though.
Edit: Balrog can safely FA and backdash away. BUT Sagat gets caught in U2 if he tries to backdash away. Means U2 will catch those who have crappy backdash after FA. So that move is character dependent.
I think somebody earlier on in this thread tested the OS against a Ryu wakeup backdash. I dont think this was tested against Chun\Sim\Abel\Fei wakeup backdash’s so maybe its a no-go.
Would a jump mp (both hits) into U2 also work? This would negate a potential AA focus attack. I’m not sure if the jmp mp does enough hit stun.
Any jump-in with 15 frames or more hitstun was capable of comboing into U1 in SF4 if it hit deep enough. Jump forward mp had 15 frames hitstun for the second hit. As U2 is quicker than U1, it’s very likely that it can.
Balrog will get caught in U2 if he backdashes on wakeup, but the jump in have to be real meaty. Any later, Balrog will be safe. Also if Balrog uses his ex.dashpunch or ex.upper to absorb and clear the wakeup jump in by Ryu, U2 will autocorrect the other way, and hit Balrog for full Ultra. It means that now Balrog actually have to try to block jump ins on wake up because both his options now are very unsafe.
Edit: Same for Chun Li (almost the best backdasher :P). Timing is tight but a very meaty jump in OS Metsu Shroyu on wakeup will catch her trying to backdash away. If will whiff if the jump in OS was a tad early, so this also needs a lot of practice.
This U2 seems pretty awesome right now. Aks216 was saying that in his opinion U1 was still going to be the more popular Ultra, only time will tell. What is worrying is that if Ryu got a really good U2 (which is what U2 looks like right now), are they compensating him for the fact that other characters in the game have got really strong tools this time around!
Wow, thanks for the quick testing. I’m just throwing out ideas that come to me and up until now, U2 has not disappointed me.
I should have made it clear earlier on that the j.hk/j.hp needed to be really deep and should only be used against characters who dont have a reversal AA which becomes active earlier then 4 frames. We wouldnt be able to use this OS againt Ken\Akuma\Ryu\ex wakeup moves. Not sure about the new characters.
