What a dumba$$… it’s not that Ryu’s Hadoken gave people hard time, it was his Shoryuken with great priority which made Ryu top-tier. The DPs have been harshly nerfed to make people be able to jump in more reliably.

I use a worse character with more weaknesses than Fei, and I hold my own against Ryu’s with ease. Surely you can aswell.
I’m surprised you complain about “adukens” so much, especially when EX-CW goes through them and you’re able to link combos afterwards. Unless you didn’t know that? Maybe you have terrible reactions to projectiles and can’t punish properly? Either way, you suck and disgrace both Fei Long players and Bruce Lee. Be gone!
if its online were talking about than Fei v Ryu is probably just 4-6 and tourney level more like 3-7. Ryu isnt such a big deal online when you compare it to Sagat and Blanka who can pretty much Shut down Fei’s game completely if they know the matchup well.

Anyways, now that brucelee-kid has gone, can we talk about Ryu in Super SF4 again. According to various reports, Ryu’s DP’s are trading with everything. This either suggests that the player has timed his DP too early or that the frame data (apart from the 2 hit split) have been changed. Has anybody got anymore info on this? I can understand removing the DP trade Ultra, but I wouldnt be happy if they not only nerfed his damage output but also removed the reliability of ryu’s Fierce/Medium DP’s as AA’s (even if they were well timed).
They reduced the invincibility on the DP didn’t they? That would suck as hell if they made an AA move NOT be able to AA reliably and be only used in combos. Or maybe we’re forced to use EX-SRK as our reliable AA?
I hope they at least make it like kens DPs where you have one combo one and one you use as the AA.
If a “well timed” DP trades - it means semantically, only a “perfectly timed” DP won’t trade, which is perhaps a 1 frame window
I think/hope the invincibility window stays - so a “well timed” DP still beats jump-ins as a reliable antiair, but perhaps the active hitbox in the air has been changed so it trades if the srk hits in the air rather than close to the ground.
An antiair special move that needs a “perfect timing” is no longer a reliable antiair, so people might as well switch to cr.HP and st.HK as antiairs. It doesn’t make sense.
If Ryu’s DP turns out to be an awful AA then the fireball trap will no longer become viable either because lets face it, one of the main reasons to throw fireball is to get your opponent to jump on you. If you throw a fireball and an opponent jumps in with HK and you execute a DP whilst your Ryu is still on the ground and you trade (instead of beating them clean), then whats the point of throwing the fireball to begin with!

Seriously it would be nice to see more of these used…if SRK actually requires skilled timing, then I suspect that Ryu players are going to need to up their game by using gasp an anti air that isn’t invincible (and therefore brain dead easy).
I’m pretty glad to hear that SRK is going to require more thought, but I’m not thrilled about it trading so often.
This also means that Ryu is now going to need to think about WHEN and at what distance he throws fireballs…since he can’t just late DP mash and win.
THAT change is probably the best for Ryu overall (though I know some of you will hate it) because it forces you to play more footsies when the other guy can jump in and trade in his favor from the right distances…
i don’t think there’s a fireball spacing where you can get them to jump into anything but a fairly late DP without them being really bad.
EDIT: you’re SUPPOSED to do the DP late anyways. if you get a super late DP that means your spacing was perfect because they would have totally thought they could have beat you clean.

I get what you mean though… it’s annoying to try to play footsies with a flowchart player who just throws out specials, but thats when you just let them throw their shit out there, punish it, and find somebody else to play with when the match is over.
