Well, Rice Eater was stating the obvious to a Ryu player, but was probably doing so with the intention of informing you that removing or inhibiting Metsu Hadoken’s juggle capability isn’t a minor nerf, but would render the Ultra near useless, as juggling is the only thing it’s good at.
actually, i meant as u wake up. I have seen Metsu Hadoken hit people attempting to chip you with something. Even been knocked out of HS with metsu hadoken
I get his intention. It’s his wording and the attitude that it conveyed that was outright absurd.
I admit I lolled at the stupidity of this
LMAO, damn my stomach hurts…hands down the best joke of the year so far.
Oh, sorry about that. Looks like the jokes on me now. Oh well, do your worse guys.
I think non-ryu players are better acquainted with Ryu’s quirks than most Ryu players.
I think you have absolutely no basis for that statement at all. When the non-Ryu players in here are the ones suggesting that Ryu’s Ultra be made terrible just to stop a Trade > Ultra situation, and blowing minor things out of proportion, it sure does seem the other way around.
Common logic would disagree with you as well. We Ryu mains are the ones that actually use the character. Not “non-Ryu players”. On top of that, using Ryu in no way makes anyone exempt from having to fight against the same amount of Ryu players as anyone else. Ryu players know the character from both sides of the coin. All you non-Ryu players do is fight him.
It’s probably that attitude that leads to all the bullshit suggestions in this thread as far as nerfing him is concerned. Some people think they know better than the ones using the character, when they know jack shit about actually using the character.
lots of crying going on in here
Cause Ryu is so really hard to use. I mean, you have to put up with his sub-par footsies, lack of a reversal option, an ultra that never hits, suckyass fireball and his lack of an overhead.
Oh… Wait…
Fair enough but:
- Some people second Ryu so that they can use him to compensate for a bad matchup or just for fun so the statement that only Ryu mains play ryu is inaccurate.
- Mirror matches are very different. As Ryu you have the ability to counter or return the favor to anything that your opponent does.
- Yeah, there’s a lot of whining about Ryu in this thread from people who wouldn’t know balance if it hit them in the face but there’s also constructive criticism here as well. Some people want their character to be powerful and usually to the detriment of others but some of us are actually concerned with real balance and real solutions to balance (not that I haven’t made my fair share of stupid suggestions though).
I’m not referring to those people. Duck Strong and I both said “non-Ryu players”. As in people who don’t play Ryu.
True, but that’s all the more reason a successful Ryu player has to be familiar with all of Ryu’s tools and quirks. Even moreso than someone who only fights against him.
Hell, I have no problem with that. In the end, I want a balanced game more than anything else as well. I’m not just a Ryu main, I’m also a Ryu fan, so I’ll main him regardless of his tier. I just feel that too many people don’t realize that complaining about the top tier for balance in this game is barking up the wrong tree. The mechanics of the game and the shortcomings of the lower tiers are the problem, not Sagat/Ryu/Rufus/Akuma/Balrog’s ability.
That sums it up perfectly.
For those who are complaining irrationally I feel so for you when SSF4 comes out. Some of the new cast looks like they will be pushing most of the cast further down the tier list. hopefully its nothing worse than a 6-4 match up.
But in every game there will always be someone top teir. Just learn the matchups better and you will be all set.
could it be that some people are complaining about their character design in conjunction with their overall ability?:amazed:
HEY! If I want to constantly jump forward, Ryu should not be allowed to have a SRK. Common sense.
Anyway, I’m sure this has already been discussed, but what is the significance of Ryu receiving the two hit SRK? I don’t see what will change.
Buff: hit confirming FADC and full damage as long as both hits connect.
Nerf: does not knock down anymore from any single hit.
Anyone disagree with this?
I disagree. The first hit will probably still knock down, and the 2nd hit will probably be in the air.
SRK > FADC will do less damage if the 2nd hit can’t be FADC’d. If the mess with the active frames and invincibilty of it, they could all but eliminate SRK’s trade juggles.
Like this:
Done that way it’d end up:
Buff: Clean hit MP and HP SRK is slightly easier to do.
Nerf: Damage reduction on SRK FADC, Trade followup is removed.
Yea, but it’s most likely that, since hp srk is divided, if they dont let u fadc the second hit, ppl will likely just use the mp version instead, and i would assume that would do much more damage than the 1st hit of the HP version, and probably only slightly weaker than the full HP version, so would they really be accomplishing anything, in the end?
…well i guess so, since mp version has slightly less invincibility frames than HP version, but i dnt know the exact frame data, but i doubt that it’s significant enuff to change trade ultra if they just use mp version instead
its a big nerf if its anything like kens where the first hit does not score a knockdown.
