Ryu changes in SSFIV thread

Wait so you’re saying poor jump-ins should be LESS punishable?

Not everyone can really benefit from a bad jump-in/cross over attempt. Sadly that is how it is with someone without a DP or AA specials like Honda or C.Viper or sakura, even without auto correct, these characters will always have a problem with jump-ins and cross over attempts regardless.

You’re basically telling me that I can’t appreciate how annoying autocorrect and Trade Ultra are because I play Ryu, even though I play other characters, and have already said it’s annoying. And your best reply is basically “no, you”. Riiight.

Ryu and select others (mostly those with a DP) benefit from badly timed jumps and attacks in every SF that doesn’t have parry. Hasn’t changed, probably won’t change anytime soon. No one is perfect, and that’s why you take damage from doing stupid things or messing up. What’s your point? You want to punish jump ins heavily? Nothing’s stopping you from picking a character who can. Ryu’s not the only one. If you’re mad your character of choice can’t, be mad at yourself, because you chose the character, so you already should have known how good your character is at Anti-Air.

I’m saying poor jumpins should still be punishable, just not when they equate to trade >ultra

You are a horrible listener. I said that since you benefit from trade ultras, you don’t see a reason to complain as much as others do.

Its this mentality that led to the sea of Ryu’s and Sagat’s. “Wan’t to be able to do all the cool stuffs?! Pick top tier!!!” Horrible.

What is it that you think is happening with “auto-correct”? It stores the stick inputs on one side and when you press the button as the opponent crosses over it finishes the input. It is EXACTLY the same thing. The timing is just more forgiving because the slower speed and wider input windows.

Then auto correct isn’t the right thing to call it. Auto correct implies the system does it for you. That’s what I think when someone says that.

Which is entirely untrue, as I play with both characters that benefit and don’t benefit from it as I said. Also, I’m able to have it used on me just as much as anyone else. So no, I can see why people complain, just as well as anyone. People complain too much, because if you’re jumping in on Ryu or Sagat with Ultra, you’re asking to get it used on you anyway, Traded or not. The fact that it trades and still lands Ultra is stupid. I’d prefer it not trade at all. But it’s a minor problem at best.

Whatever man. That’s life. That’s how it is in every fighting game with people that prioritize winning over all else. Then you have the dedicated people who learn their character’s weaknesses and overcome them using their own style, which is an easier time in SFIV than just about any other SF, ever.

Lastly you have whiners who complain about tiers even when the game is balanced, act like the advantages of top tier characters are impossible to win against, yet insist on using disadvantaged characters even though they don’t think they can win with them. In short, crybaby losers.

Which one are you, Fouts? If you don’t like high tier characters, find a way to beat them with low tiers. I can do it. It’s not really that hard in this game. Complaining to top tier mainers about basic and easily avoidable crap incessantly isn’t helping or convincing anyone, least of all yourself.

I actually completely agree with this, but for a different reason. The reason I love playing Akuma and Ryu is because they have tons of versatile cool stuff, which makes them very fun characters to play. Not even because of the tier placing. Even Sakura has a lot of fun cool stuff. Gouken has fun cool stuff too.

Like, why would you want to play a character that doesn’t have any cool stuff? I don’t understand why anybody would play a character like Guile. He has absolutely NOTHING that I find interesting or exciting in anyway. Even a higher tier character like Barlog (Yup. BAR-LOG), I don’t really get why anybody would have any fun playing him. His entire game is so blah. Different strokes.

What?

Anyway I don’t even know who that guy is, but “oh no he’s arguing an unpopular position, this means he’s a troll” is weak as hell. I don’t know what people mean when they say trade into ultra doesn’t make sense. DP’s trading period doesn’t really make sense. A guy rising from the ground with his hand on fire, invincible doesn’t make sense.

Guys with DP’s and ultras can anti-air into their ultras, through a trade or an FADC. It’s just the way the game works, and getting hung up on the principle of taking more damage on a trade when in any other street fighter you wouldn’t have traded (ie. you wouldn’t have “beat” the DP, you’d just have eaten a deep DP) in the first place seems weird to me.

Just tossing out my two cents: Trade > Ultra is completely unfair. Should you be punished for your bad jump in? Sure. Should you eat an Ultra because of it? Eh, not so sure. That Ryu mistimed his DP too, but he gets to blast you with a giant purple fireball, nice.

And also, seconding Barlog being the most boring character to play. Hold down back and only pop up to punish any attempt to force you off down back!!! So fun!!!

Poor Akuma, lol. Whenever I trade, and it happens way more often that with ryu, sagat, ken or cammy, i do shit damage and take a ton.

The dragon punch in SF4 is a real momentum killer, dragon punching on wake up in previous games meant making a decision & required skill, if you mistimed your dp you ate a combo, the way the mechanics are in SF4 there is no decision to be made, it’s cake. Oh and just in case you do fuck up you get trade>ultra.

the game mechanics should be changed not ryu, as a character he’s fine

So not balancing Ryu is because “That’s life” really now, so other people have to work even harder just to beat you? you are a troll sir.

Ryu’s easily inputted lp.dp into Ultra is something that needs to be fixed. To many times have I seen in tournaments of consisted player fall into that silly mistake. lp.dp shouldn’t have a juggle state in my opinion.

Is it really easily avoidable? Honestly really? You think everyone in this thread could have “easily” avoided as you so speak of? Even in tournament play they fall of it. So what exactly do you think of everyone in this currently 123 pages thread? Scrubs?

Troll.

I’m sorry but if you find lp SRK>ultra to be any kind of threat, you’re not good. Period. The only way you get hit by AA LP SRK is if you’re jumping in when you blatantly shouldn’t. Stop doing that and you’ll be fine.

Well… yeah. Is that really even a question?

well i already limit my jump ins when Ryu has Ultra but i still eat the ultra eventually. I cant even count how many times ive been DP’d out of my pokes, but than again i might have been too predictable. I can only absorb and neutral jump FB’s for so long. But w/e its probably just me cuz im a scrub.

Oh heaven forbid Ryu making a bad jumpin on low tier characters. We’ll just … uh… stare at yea.

What character/characters do you play?

Fei Long until i transitioned to Rose just yesterday so i can join the Plasma Club

lol, this thread would be about 10 pages long but for the " Ryu Police " Constables Nitro263 & Stay Crispy

I can understand this. I play bison, but one day I got sagat on random. I was like, Kara-specials and TK strings and combo to ultra? Awesome!

Then I went back to bison and was like, I have good footsies. yay. I’m excited.
