None of those responses from Ono had any new info or value-able information.
OK crazy thought, just hear me out on this
We have yet to see what the game’s Store option has to offer. What if the game has in-game currency, Bison Dollars, that when you accumulate a certain amount of, can be used instead of real money to get DLC content?
If I should post this in another thread, please let me know.
To be fair, Sven did say their was a secret that we wouldn’t know until launch day. So unless this was the secret and they decided “Fuck that” then there still might be something to look forward to in terms of these characters.
Isnt Capcom the only company that could “makes fans wait until fall to play as 5 SSF4 copy/paste characters” since it is the only only makes SF4?
Anyway, EA Sports charges 60 dollars every single year for a new Madden. Every single year! With very few differences between the games. Often using the same engine year after year. Yet people have excepted that. Weird.
As consumers we need to understand that video game budgets are approaching those of Hollywood studios. Which means making a game has become way more of a risk than it use to be. Game companies need to be able to get as much as they can out of a release. That is why we are seeing so much in terms of DLC and porting to multiple consoles.
Im sorry people want to talk about Capcom being greedy. I dont see it that way. I see them as a smart company that is doing exactly what they should be doing. Instead of complaining so much maybe the FSC should look into buying some Capcom stock and let them make you some money with their “greedy” ways.
THIS … Also cancelling your purchase does matter, Why do you think SF4 had barely any DLC when compared to RE5 which realeased the same year with Day-1 DLC… Its coz Capcom were worried about the sales of SF4…
You can bet ur money if SF was a big seller back then SF4 would have come with Original Arcade version for 60$ and the console exclusive characters would have all been DLC…
Nobody is saying EA isnt doing so , EA can afford to milk like that because the majority of the fanbase are casuals who dont know shit … I mean Fifa and Madden are huuuge sellers… If sales dropped you can bet they will make more changes in the next one …
If SFxT is received with bad sales with complaints about the DLC , you can bet the next one wont have this sort of shit …
To add on to this post, the dlc characters for blazblue were actual dlc characters. As in, they weren’t on the disc. As in, we weren’t being charged for unlock keys.
I thought I was playing Blazblue because it was a decent fighting game, but I guess that’s wrong right? Yes, CT had everything to offer for a 40 dollar game, but are you going to sit here and justify Extend to me?
I brought up EA and I brought up Blazblu because they’re examples of companies and games that are doing exactly what Capcom is doing now, it wasn’t random it was that I felt and still feel that people are surprised by something they shouldn’t be surprised over. I wasn’t criticizing you for your boycott, I’m criticizing you because your paragraph read like this was something Capcom has been alone in doing. I’m not blindly defending anyone, if I had a problem with the DLC Capcom is throwing at us then I’d have a problem with it, but I don’t. I’m not throwing out random accusations.
But when MVC2 and CVS2 came out, you still paid 60 dollars for a brand new game filled to the brim with reused sprites, right? As for the frozen out for 9 months, I’m sure Capcom has some deal with Namco where DLC has to be some equal opportunity character spread. I can understand what you’re saying, but you have no way of knowing if they’re already on disc or not.
I’m pretty sure this is how League of Legends works (either play the game or purchase point cards from retailers like Best Buy to buy in game characters and skins) but it seems really reallyreally really really unlikely so uh yeah expect worst hope best THAT’S ONE OF MY RULES /Godot
Also do we assume the store is there or is there anything concrete about it because I haven’t heard shit about it.
It’s there, if you watched some of the videos of the recent builds you can see it greyed out in the game’s main menu.
In addition it’s called Store in the 360 ver. as well.
Well, you have companies like Nintendo that release complete games from the start, although that particular one may be a bad example because of weak online in the first place.
Then you have companies that release DLC that’s basically a “donate button.” Cosmetic updates, things that don’t hurt your experience if you don’t have them. Even the game updates might be free.
If your experience is only with those types of companies, you can be pretty free from a DLC life.
If you think about it, if they want to have any DLC characters, they probably have to release SF characters at the same rate as Tekken characters. I remember there was a contractual obligation to do that with MvC3. So naturally they’re going to have to hold back some SF4 characters to keep it even, unless they wanted to make it literally SF4 vs Tekken at launch.
That’s assuming you’re OK with DLC characters. When it comes down to it, it would be the same as a 12-character game update… If it were the only way they were “selling power.” But it’s not, there’s gems, too. This is adding on to past grievances for these people.
Once again, the assumption is that these 12 are already on the disc and we don’t know if that’s true or not. Still doesn’t change the fact that Extend forces you to get a new game for the buffs, while forgetting that you just payed 8 bucks for a cast they’re tossing in for free. This is coming from someone who didn’t even buy the DLC but I have friends who were tearing hairs out over it.
At this point I don’t even know what to think anymore, and until we get some specific info about it, I’ll be expecting the worst.
I’m one of those people. I happily bought the DLC characters, but paying 40 more bucks for Relius and the rebalance - specially since CS2 was extremely shitty - is a no-no. I’m done with BB until the next main iteration of it.
I knew about the ESRB, I didn’t know they didn’t rate DLC. If it’s on disk, then bitch away. I guess I’m a tool, because I totally want drunken cop and android pixie to play with come DLC date lol.
CT > CS: added more content to story with the inclusions of offline modes you can play by yourself. Included new characters(NOT DLC) onto roster to be playable without having to make seperate purchase. Added unlock able character after beating story mode OR if you’re impatient, buy for 0.99 cents online. None of this was possible in CT.
CS > CSX: From, “http://www.fightersgeneration.com/games/blazblue-extend.html”
General: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend features a new character, Relius Clover (Carl Clover’s father), and balance tweaks for all returning fighters (including previous “DLC-only” fighters). Story Modes will now include stories for the DLC characters and Relius Clover. New single player modes include: Abyss Mode and Unlimited Mars Mode.Extend will also present a new opening animation produced by Production I.G, as well as new theme song called “Sokyu no Hikari” by Faylan.
Let me sum it up for you.
If you somehow felt “cheated” that you bought CT and thought it was still unfair to buy the sequel CS(even though CS was damn near a revamp of CT), you are given the option of not only buying CS, but you’re getting all the DLC characters and initial characters that were newcomers to blazblue.
You are also getting Relius… a newcomer to the cast. The re-release on disc is not AKYSYS trying to trap people into buying their stuff.
Unlike MVC… where their dlc was holds breath on disc, and locked away for 10 bucks.
Blazblue CS was hacked and digged into, and you know what at best was found? A portrait of Makoto and unused sound files. There was no way to manipulate her sprite to be playable because they weren’t there.
Capcom doesn’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to that. They did it with RE, they did it with SF costumes, they done it with MvC.
Which means at least 2 of the characters (that they’re forcing us to wait until fall for) are already finished.
Someone mentioned that this could be a partnership that Capcom and Sony have for the Vita. Vita releases tomorrow right? Maybe both companies think that this tidbit of news will convince a few more people to go out and buy a Vita. I’m sure someone out there is like “Oh man! I get 12 exclusive characters? Shiiiit let me go get a Vita tomorrow!” It wouldn’t be too far off since I’ve seen plenty of people deem their 3DS useless because they bought their 3DS on launch in anticipation for Mega Man Legends 3. Then after the Vita release, Capcom can announce console DLC/unlockables after Sony has Vita money in their pockets.
I’m hoping by launch day we get one of these options:
-Day-1 DLC featuring all 12 characters
-Day-1 DLC featuring 4 characters
-A DLC release schedule spanning from April-June. Come on Capcom, don’t make us wait until fall.
I’m still assuming the worst though. With the way things are looking now, console owners are going to have to wait a long time to have a complete version of the game.
