Me: *-calls Gamestop-*Gamestop: Hello Gamestop, how may I help you?
Me: Yeah, um…I have a pre-order placed for Street Fighter x Tekken and I’d like to change that to SSX.
Gamestop: Okay, just give me your phone number and I’ll do that for you.
Me: *-Gives phone number-*Gamestop: *-Puts my $60 to good use-
*Yep, I had a feeling Poison’s add was too good to be true and was just bait to lure in those of us that had little faith in Capcom. Unfortunately, she’s not even enough to have me buy this game now. I boycotted Capcom back in late 2009 and SFxTK would have been my first Capcom purchase since then, but they’ve up and played the greed card again. Until we get more news on the situation, I’m playing it safe and putting my money on something else.

I’m not the type to bitch and moan when I’ll end up buying their products and supporting their greed anyway, I speak with my wallet. And if more people had started doing this years ago we probably wouldn’t be here right now, because no matter what stupid shit Capcom pulls there are still thousands of people out there that will still drop as much cash as necessary to play their games and buy their rip-off DLC.

All this stupid shit and still no Karin and/or R.Mika. At least troll me properly Capcom you assholes.

I find it hard to believe that crapcom will hold those characters till the vita release if that is the case all hell will break loose.

Do people really not get DLC? Okay, one, this post is hilarious because I can’t believe anyone would view Poison’s inclusion in this game as, ‘Capcom showing it’s fans there’s still faith left’ but thank you for showing me there’s all types out there. Two, Capcom has been pulling ‘the greed card’ since 1994 along with every other video game company ever. I love how Capcom gets shit on, when Blazblu has had 8 dollar per character DLCs only to release sequels that are nothing more than DLC glued together and a new character. Hell, Activision and EA were built off the idea of the ‘greed card’ and they don’t even try to be reasonable like Capcom does (Which is why the SSX switch made me laugh just so hard).

DLC does not equal greed, it equals something that we all need to understand is a standard in video games. How long have we had to deal with DLC? How long is it going to take before people realize that no amount of whining or, ‘boycotts’ are going to change a buisness plan which is ultimately nothing more than a digitized version of what arcades were doing for decades? You can do whatever you want with your money man, but calling out Capcom like their doing something new is just ignorant.

Mike_Z has also said that Microsoft and Sony will only allow a certain amount of free DLC per priced DLC, including patches and the free colours. That plays into a big part of why companies make DLC: so they can have room to patch the game if necessary.

What other company makes fans wait until fall to play as 5 SSF4 copy/paste characters?

Guarantee like Ogre one of those Tekken characters will be a SSF4 copy/paste too. T.Hawk for Jack maybe?

Did you not play fighting games in the 90s? Did people just forget about sprite recycling? Not to mention every sports title ever where people shove out 60 dollars for new names on their rosters and a hand-full of bullshit extra features every year. Maybe those kinds of companies…

I had a lot typed up but I’m just too utterly confused to make a sensible post. I’ll just wait and see what happens.

Do you think the same people would have been perfectly okay with Blazblue DLC characters if they played BlazBlue? Because some other company did it doesn’t mean there will be no complaints when a new company does it.

Regardless, it seems like a common point of complaints is that 5 of the maybe-DLC characters were already in SF4. The nuance is different.

Personally, I don’t know what I think about it yet. I think it’s wrong to assume that everyone has past history with DLC. I haven’t “had to deal with DLC,” I don’t know about you.

Sports games now constantly update to reflect roster changes all the way up until the next version releases. Their rosters aren’t frozen out for 9 months.

In the 90s, if the characters were in the game, these recycled models would at least be unlockable by fulfilling in-game requirements. Not frozen out for 9 months.

I’m not arguing against DLC, I’m arguing against forcing us to wait so long for characters that are already on the disc.

Nobody is boycotting or anything… If Capcom wants to do this they are just as bad as EA or Acti or w/e…

So they get treated the same way as well , which is i’ll wait for when the DLC eventually comes out and buy the “Super” version which will have all the DLC on it … I honestly dont think i wanna spend 60$ on this game + fukton of money on Gems DLC + Characters DLC … even for sports games i just wait and buy it used , shits price goes down Hella fast …

My point wasn’t that Capcom should be excused because another company does it, it’s that in comparison to other companies Capcom isn’t exactly flooring us for pocket change. I’m saying there have been worse deals out there. Same thing with DLC, I’m not saying everyone has to deal with DLC, but that we’ve been in a gaming community where DLC has been a go to for companies for almost a half decade now (and that’s mainstream DLC, console DLC has officially been around for a decade already). If we’re not used to the idea that games have DLC by now, I don’t know what to tell you.

To be fair, I couldn’t care less about DLC in general. If I like/want it, I’ll buy it.

My problem is that the way it’s worded right now, we have to wait until the Vita version releases IN THE FALL to get it, which is stupid and likely only enacted to somehow help the Vita.

I’m hoping I’m reading that wrong because it’s silly if it’s true.

Also, personally I wasn’t happy with how Extend was handled either, and up until this point I’ve been praising ASW, despite the somewhat pricey character DLC.

It’s whatever, as I’m still buying the game, plenty of characters for me to play right now, but dammit does that “announcement” ever sting, and I just figured Capcom would at least be… smarter about how they went about it.

Overreact much? We don’t even know for sure how the 12 characters will be presented to 360 and PS3 owners. So canceling your preorder seems a bit extreme. However it is your money and you can do whatever you want with it. What we do know for sure is that Lei and Alisa were present in a version that was rated by the ESRB. Since they generally do not review DLC chances are that at least those two characters are unlockable and on disc.

Honestly i think many people are gonna do this now ,Theres really no point in spending 60$ now when few months you get it for so much cheaper… I fukin hate this stupid deal Capcom has with Sony …first UMvC gets exclusive stuff on vita and now this …

DLC like AE am totally fine with , thats how DLC is supposed to be used … To add content later on in the game …not like the way it is now …

Please don’t wrap AKYSYS in with Capcom.

If you played CT > CS, don’t play stupid and turn a blind eye to everything the game had to offer at 40 dollars.

If your not a fan of storylines in fighting games, then your playing Blazblue for the wrong reasons.

I’m ignorant? Kay. You’re sitting here blindly defending Capcom while trying to make my view on the matter seem like a joke, and not to be insulting but I’m pretty sure that kind of makes you the ignorant one.
As for EA and Activision, unlike Capcom; they don’t make a game series that I’ve followed for years and aren’t a common company I purchased games from. I wasn’t implying that EA>Capcom, I just personally feel SSX will be money well spent whereas I can just buy SFxTK later at a reduced price since there’s no way in hell I’m dropping $60 now and $30?+ in a few months for DLC. But like I said, I’m not buying from Capcom at all. I also haven’t touched BlazBlue since the first game, since you were randomly throwing that into the mix.

So don’t try and lump me in with people that just cry about everything for no good reason. If these characters were known months ago by leakers, that means that they were planned and probably developed simultaneously with the game. Why hold out on content that could easily be added into the game? Simple, they make more money that way. They don’t have to produce a game that’s loaded with as much content as they can give us when they can make so much more revenue by withholding and releasing it later. DLC shouldn’t be a preemptive scam to make more money, it should be something that companies do at the end of or after development to increase the game’s longevity. You’re also right by telling me that my boycott won’t change Capcom’s ways, but I don’t care. It makes me feel good to know that my money isn’t sitting in the pockets of a company whose methods I don’t agree with. It’s a personal thing.

That’s my stance on the matter, anyway. If you don’t agree, good on you; but criticizing me for my opinion is totally not going to change it.

I guess you missed the part where I said *“Until we get more news on the situation, I’m playing it safe and putting my money on something else.” *I’m not being extreme at all, just being cautious.

Also the Vita is really not doing well, its sucking in Japan and its not looking good for it in America and Europe. If the Vita fails by Fall (not saying it will) than Capcom will have wasted time and money. Im a frickin’ GCSE Business Student and me and my class mates could do better than this.

I did one in the other thread
