Rumor: Namco vs Capcom and Capcom vs Namco In Development

What scene exactly are you referring to. You mean the overwhelming majority of new players that play sf4 exclusively and will die(not IRL) with the game (hopefully sooner than later) . New players have done nothing for the scene other than show it ignorance & their lack of interest in learning new games (some exceptions, but very few). Nova Scotia in particular is guilty of this.

ummmm…

I think you just skim through posts looking for shit to get mad at.

#1 The devs (not the creators behind SF1) DID work for SNK, and as a fuck you to capcom they created Ryo in ‘homage’ to Ryu, and Haohmaru from Samurai Shodown is dressed just like Ryu.

#2 I never defended SF4.

I’m adding you to my ignore list, Tech, you have never contributed anything of substance and just enjoy trolling others.

Absolutely thats how these ‘collaborations’ work. Capcom makes the recipe they bake the cake.

You are dumb. Did I ever say they didn’t contribute to other titles? All I did was point out EX and the fact the OG team made their own company.

I quoted your post, but my reply about defending SFIV wasn’t even directed at anyone in particular. Looking for shit to get mad at? I’m perfectly calm, I just get my kicks calling out the dumb shit you say about every single game you talk about. Its a good thing you put me on ignore so you can continue to fail hard.

Ignorance is bliss.

Fighting games in general are incredibly footsie heavy. What do you think causes the announcer to be yelling “counter!” left and right in BB? It’s just a matter of understanding the options. SFIV trades quite a few for FAs and like…one character has a dash cancel.

Dash cancel? You’ve been playing way too many new school fighters Delta. That would have little place in a Street Fighter game.

Damn so much hate flying all around to and from everyone. Sweeping generalizations and ignore list being flicked around like knives and bullets. Let’s get back to this stupid ass rumor.

Considering we’ve seen dashes, air block, super jumps and their cancels, two button throws, roman cancels, parries, and a bunch of other shit from other kinds of fighting games find their way into Street Fighter, I’d tend to call that a pretty fucking arbitrary line. Especially seeing as how it’s Abel’s Footsies 101 already.

If the Capcom game has just frame EWGF, just fuck.

whoohoooo! just got home from afghanistan for a week and a half and not long ago a couple of my co-soldiers were killed by a road bomb.
keep complaining about how shitty game x is gonna be while the rest of us actually use our positive energy that we have despite everything all the shit in the world and try to have fun with and enjoy the games that are out there and the communities that it makes. eventually people will catch up and more hardcore competitive mindsets will be introduced to the industry once again.

peace out, peeps.

Super Jump cancels were in Thrid Strike though, and are also as rare as dash cancels.

Look, one thing we can ALL agree on is that before SFIV the fighting game scene was dead and Ono single handedly revived it with his smash-hit and child-friendly iteration of the globally loved fighting game franchise.

Why, just one year before sf4’s release Evo was being held in David Sirlin’s hotel room in above an off-strip casino with an attendance of under 100 people. The only game played was sf2 turbo on snes (with arcade sticks) and people pretty much said after the finals that they were all retiring as fighting games were done. They all said their goodbyes and went home, vowing that the days of fighting games were but a memory.

…then BANG SfIV comes out and suddenly everyone had a reason to live again, and Evo had over 9000 attendees including President Barrack Hussein Obama. No Sirlin though AFAIK.

Who’s to say that all new players will stop playin when SSF4 dies. It’s extremely likely that the massive popularity of this game will bring in many more lifelong members to the fighting game community. It won’t keep scrubs around sure, but anybody who has a competitive side who strives to get better will definitely stick around.

And way to try to alienate your entire neighboring province bro. NS has plenty of skilled players, we just have about 5 times the amount of scrubs because people bring their friends who don’t actually play the game…

But again, this is wrong. The FG scene had certainly declined in the West thanks to the gap Capcom left, but it never stopped in Asia. ASW, SNK, Sega and Namco were all there to do plenty to keep things going.

The asian scene only matters if your a spectator or a rich boy who can fly over there to play them. America needs a healthy scene as well.

I was being sarcastic you prick. Ffs if you think evo was played on a snes in sirlin’s hotel room your actually a ******.

This is what we have to put up with. People who have been playing since sf4 pretending they know what’s upvia second hand information then acting like an authority.

Fighting games were doing just fine before Ono started churning out his fan-made homages. Yeah sure some games were getting old, but tournaments like evo, sbo and battle of destiny were bigger than ever before.

Sfiv being the saviour of the scene is some myth that’s been developed by n00bs and peole who get a hard on for making money from gaming like gootecks.

Why is everyone so depressed?

If it makes you feel better, I laughed.

lmao, SF2T on the snes with arcade sticks and Obama at EVO

Haven’t felt like this since the 90’s, when we went from X-men: Children of the Atom to Marvel Super Heroes to Xmen vs Street Fighter.

: D good times ahead with so many fighting games!

I really hope this isn’t true, but Game Informer posting about it kind of makes me think it is. The whole concept is really whack to me.

Akuma/Kazuya all day though.
