Rumor: Namco vs Capcom and Capcom vs Namco In Development

Dont mean to be rude, but out of all the sf4 players how many have shown the same interest in other games, not many if any. This problem isnt only in NS, but North America as a whole. Hell I`ve been going thru the same thing. You would n believe the effort it takes to get these people into new things. That said I strongly believe most will not carry on, but then again if Capcom or whom ever they pass their shit to continues to have major financial success and completely corners the market with their current quality of games then you might just be right.

I found an article about this with a presumably fake screenshot, but fun I suppose.

If this somehow means I’d get to main Xiaomu in a fighting game then I’m all for it. I actually played through Namco x Capcom (redundant game) and since then had still hoped to see a VS game from the two companies. I’m down with this idea as long as it’s not exclusively Tekken vs Street Fighter.

So, if this becomes a reality, which would you guys prefer as the standard format: Tekken Tag/MVC/2 style tag-team based game, CVS Team based game, Single-character One-on-One, or a new concept?

I vote Tag-team style. 2 or 3 characters, it doesn’t matter to me as long as it’s fun.

CvS style would be fun, always preferred that style myself honestly.

Wtf is CvS style

Capcom Versus SNK

He means KOF style, then.

FUCK THAT! in that fan made poster it should be ryu/jin in the middle not that phaggot kazuya!!!

Yeah that’s what I meant…

…with the ability to pick from 1 to 4 ratios/team members (or 1 to 3 in CVS2’s case).

No! Cvs style is choosing a team that adds up to 4 points. Each character is assigned a point value of one to 4, with 4 being the most powerful and 1 being the weakest. Want to have Sagat and Cervantes on your team? Sorry, they are both ratio 3. That would be 6 points, and it MUST add up to 4.

Also, we are going to call these points ‘ratio’. Why? For the same reason we called modes ‘isms’ in A3.

Also some 2 point characters are going to be stronger than 3 point characters. Oh, and the top tier will all be girls.

Yep, CvS style is the best.

Meh, they don’t have to have a strict point value pre-assigned to each character a la the first CVS and hopefully they’ll be able to avoid most, if not all the problems that came from it etc.
But I did prefer ratio mode over 3 on 3 in CVS2. Not just because that’s how tournaments were played. I’d just rather have the choice of variety of how strong the characters on the team can be (1 to 3 or 1 to 4 under the restriction that the total can be no greater than 4). No “team leader” type of restriction either where only the leader can use their best type of/max level super.

I still like tag-in/tag-out over that format though. Regardless I’d get my fix from that format when MVC3 comes out whether this game gets made or not I suppose.

game informer is a notoriously shitty magazine that takes bribes for good reviews so I wouldn’t take the rumor too seriously until it’s confirmed

When it’s confirmed it wouldn’t be a rumor to take serious or not, it would be news.

I hate GI’s review ‘style’ though.

I’m hoping this goes massively off topic and gets locked as there are 5 threads about the same thing atm, so fuck it-

what’s a GOOD source ofvideo game news and opinion? I used to check magic box and madmans cafe, but the latter isn’t updated anymore, and the former focuses too much on japanese dev, and lacks enough critical or journalistic depth, although it’s good for a raw news aggregator. People slag off kotaku, and I can see why. It’s more if a lifestyle blog than anything else. I know fro
working in the industry that ign, gamespot and all the biggies are shameless cash whores and have a massively skewed view of things.

So what’s good for news and critique? I found myself in Asia during E3 and couldn’t actually think of a site I wanted to go to for a lowdown of what was going on.

Prediction: Namco vs Capcom will be tekken tag style, Capcom vs Namco will be CVS2 style.

Personally, I wish people could just wait for the announcement and not create a thread until it’s up. Either that or how about someone just make a default speculation thread for anything that’s yet to be announced and lock all this up.

capcom and namco are completely two different companies so I can only see it as a good thing

bit confused how street fighters will be in a tekken game though? hopefully it’ll be an advanced version of Urban Reign

can we all agree that namcos game is gonna be better than capcoms. thanks in advance

We can all agree that Capcom’s game will have more of a ground game than Namco’s…

Wait what?

Jumping was never encouraged in SFII, in Alpha jumping was never encouraged, only in SFIII (Fucking Parry) which allowed more of jumping. You play OG SFII, no way in hell you dare to jump in on a super solid player, ask anyone who played this game at the highest level, heck even solid players in those games knew that Jumping in ='s Getting Killed.

Jumping in is definitely not encouraged, that is because of the great footsies, zoning and positioning going on, it was a huge risk to do so. I agree, Ultras do in fact skewer footsies, zoning etc, etc, however that’s been the case since Supers were introduced in ST onward anyhow.

He was being sarcastic, jeez.
