Rufus is gaining a lot of popularity cause at final round 12 there were 3 in the top 8. wong, marn, and eric v. Past couple days i’ve been sessioning with eric v and damn rufus is a monster.
Yes it is easy, but does take practice to get down. After that you can easily get it everytime. Just saying that the FA xx DC -> Ultra required no effort, or practice.
It is a waste of meter, I agree.
To be honest I struggle to do Rufus FADC xx Ultra, but I can pull of Ryus with ease its so weird an annoying. Also I don’t see it as a waste of meter, depending on your situation it’s really useful for good damage.
It’s over :(. People found the secret character.
Back to Vampire Savior I go! At least I know noone plays that game.
Just kidding…kinda.
I blame Justin Wong for this popularity!
oh and I play Vampire Savior
I don’t know if it’s my timing or what, but I have yet to see an EX Messiah Kick go through a fireball. Any fireball. What is the real timing for it?
when he jumps and get to about a **half character **away from himself, he’s pretty invincible maybe a whole character, but i think to be conservative, a half.
I still have yet to play another rufus in ranked aside from once back when the game came out.
Our secret is still safe! …for now.
when its about to touch you
you need to add me on PS3
ya so, in my jobless free time, i have had a plethora of e-experience w/ rufus. and again have a few random tidbits to share:
-EX messiah kick beats[or avoids] every ultra i’ve gone against upon flash except bison’s bullshit kick gief’s ufab of coarse… so block that one, and pray you’ve already done ex messiah kick premptively after the other. general rule of thumb so far. if you’re not flashing yellow when the camera pans for super, you have 100% chance of hitting, 50% if you’re already yellow(this is especially the case for sagat). distance requirements: a character away or closer. blanka you must ex after that first hop, but its already been said 100 bajillion times already. against fuerte and akuma, its better to just jump back[j.rk away against a fuerte’s flash]
-c.fierce is -14 on block, and -10 on hit, making it a great poke, and decent punishment, except when cammy wiffs a cannon spike and has an ultra stocked X_X. I think the safest way to punish it is to time it so that her feet are on the ground, so she doesn’t get to land and ultra premptively.
-s.fierce, c.fierce, lp. snakestrike, and ex messiah kick are all you really need against gief. lol(tho already said earlier)
-either walk forward c.fierce doesn’t work on all strengths of blankaball, or i’m misstiming -_-,
-preemptive crossup[dive kicking over them/aka getto corpse hopping] against knocked down characters are a must when possible against charge characters.(i.e. bison b/c of his gay ass ultra). I don’t think it guarantees good players from losing their horizontal charge, but its worth it imo if you have the chance.
-all crouching punches beat hurricane kick. stupid, old probably, but i didn’t see it earlier.
-does far s.lp wiff on some characters? i feel like the c.lpx2, s.lp, s.mp wiffs after the c.lp’s majority of the time that I do it
Learned something playing online matches today.
If your opponent is standing and you jump in and connect with a HP while airborne, you can immediately go into your ultra and it will connect.
I’ve done this about 3 times consistently and it seems unblockable as long as you land the HP.
Sorry if this was already known, just figured this out today, pretty helpful.
Does anybody know what characters st.LK, st.MP, HP Tornado works on, and what characters it doesn’t work on? For instance, at the arcades the other day I could do it against Rufus, but not against Ryu. Obviously it’s character dependent, but I would like to know who I can use it against because it’s easier to combo than st.LK, st.HP, HP Tornado.
Yeah, there was a video of that floating around Pasky. I totally forgot about it though. Does it definitely combo? I meant to check in training but never got round to it.
Spectre, hm, nice spot! I knew I’d seen st.LK, st.MP xx Tornado in videos but then when I tried it in training (I always train against Ryu) I could never get the MP to cancel so maybe that’s why? Or else maybe my execution sucks (but I can do st.LK, st.HP xx Tornado, so.)
I checked it in training and it seems to connect as long as the HP connects. I had the CPU set to auto block. It’s worked on ranked matches for me as well. So I’m assuming it’s a freebie as long as you can land the HP.
In other news, you can “anti-air” Ultra Abel’s regular wheel kick?
I played about 8 Rufus’ so far. Most people that pick him seem to know what they are doing, but aren’t that solid. Then again I’ve only played 520 matches so far.
My Xbox tag is Apharmd Striker if anyone feels like throwing down.
I can add you when I get home. We probably won’t get a very good connection though, if you’re in AZ. I’m on the east coast.
ParryAll, I think the PSN side might be a bit behind XBL in terms of random competition.
I’ve been watching DSP’s XBL videos (yeah, yeah) and he seems to find better competition randomly than I do on PSN. It might be my location, though. I’m not saying i’m a great player or anything, but I fight so many people in ranked that seem like they just started playing yesterday, or whatever. I have the filter set for more skilled but the goggles do nothing!
oh that happened to me today, I was trying to do lp snake, cr.lp x2 std.lp, std.mp and sometimes the std.lp missed, I was like “Wtf???” because I pulled the combo like 10 times but sometimes the std.lp just missed…it may be a timing matter (at least I hope so)
Far s.LP whiffs against some characters when they are crouching. Off the top of my head, this includes Blanka and Chun li.
Since close s.HP also whiffs against Blanka, this pretty much means that the only BnB combo you ever want to do on him is s.LK>s.MP> Tornado.
