I found a ! Yeah, it shows it on Ken (02:01).
edit: oh, btw, I know there was some discussion as to whether cr.MP beats Bison’s headstomp, extension, and devil’s reverse… have you dudes successfully confirmed this for yourselves yet? I will eat a whole bar of neg rep if I’m wrong but I’m not, I beat a couple of Bison’s today by utilising the power of the cr.MP
Unfortunately, all I have are theories at the moment. I’m assuming that when you land from a dive kick, you’ve lost trip guard and have 4 frames or so of recovery. Depending on how high you dive kicked your opp., they may have recovered from the block stun before your landing and thrown you during your recovery. And as we all know by now, you can’t tech if you’re thrown out of your recovery. The immediate solution is to have your dive kicks hit lower to reduce the gap between your recovery and their block stun.
Still doesn’t explain why we don’t have block stun data for dive kicks, though.
I’ve definitely beaten the actual headstomp, but I haven’t tried the extension or Devil’s Reverse.
We do. It says in the wiki that divekicks carry 11 frames of blockstun, it just doesn’t list advantage on hit or block because it’s based on how high up you hit the divekick.
i have beaten both stomp and extension, in ex and non ex form repeatedly & cleanly. its all timing.
and ya. if he does the diving crossup hp sloppy, you can actually wait till rufus turns around, and c.mp him, but otherwise >.<,
also, did pple know that tornado beats 3/4’ths of honda’s headbutts(all but the lp one?)?!?! this makes the match 100x easier now that i’m not trying to punish him in a 2f window
Am I the only one having trouble with Sagat? I played a ton of games against him yesterday, and it seems like all he needs to do is throw tiger shots , and spam roundhouse to keep me out. I starting doing better once I adopted the “don’t hit buttons” style of play, but for the most part it was a really difficult match. I guess I should be ranging him such that I can ex-messiah kick through a tiger shot then fadc and raise the rufus, but is there something I’m missing, or is the match just really horrible?
I’m kind of in the same boat as ant one. I KNOW what I need to do to get in on Sagat but it’s still difficult for me at this point. It’s really frustrating when I lose to a Sagat scrub who only knows how to TS and hit HK. One problem is that everyone says to EX Messiah through once you get close but in order to do that you need meter and in the very beginning of the first round you don’t have meter/it’s still a bit hard for me to build meter with HP/HK TS’s coming at me constantly.
Well, against Sagat he is pretty easy really. (oh yeah hey guys I quit Rufus and started playing Sagat, sorry. I will still post in here and help people out though!)
If he is keeping you out with st. hk then stop trying to jump in, if he beat you once he will continue to. Roll under his st. hk and hit him then stand up and throw, or something. cr. fierce is also another option to punish a st. hk happy Sagat.
Tiger shot’s, well jump STRAIGHT up and over low tiger shots, do not jump forwards, and risk eating a high tiger shot or st. hk. High tiger shots, you can FA and absorb one or two and dash forward to gain some distance, or use hp. tornado. Unfortunately the roll does not go under high shots, but tornado does better damage anyway. OH YEAH, timing your cr. hp will go under high tiger shots, but if you try to start it when the fire ball is right above you, you get hit.
Do not hesitate to do lp. snake strikes either, great for building meter, and dodging low tiger shots!
That’s pretty much what I was doing. Also, standing strong and cr.strong beat his roundhouse at the right range. Cr.fierce has be pretty perfectly timed or else it gets kicked for free. I also found rolling and back jump dive kicking can bait tiger uppercuts, but gets owned by roundhouses. I found that if I can anticipate it, I can tornado through the tiger shots and get things going that way. Also, it seems that Rufus’ game (air based mixups) is designed to die against Sagat’s turtle anti-air based game. Hmm…
hahaha, don’t roll before he does his st. hk. time it right, and you can roll right under it, same deal with cr. hp
I don’t see how st. mp can beat the st. hk, but if you say so.
obviously you don’t want to jump in on a Sagat, so you are going to need to find better options to gain so ground. once you do though, make sure to be dive kicking at his toes, otherwise you will lose that distance and eat some nasty damage.
The distance is such that you’re basically punching his leg. Either you time it so you stuff it, or punish it once it’s out. It’s tricky, but I was getting it consistently yesterday.
cr.MP is godlike against dhalsim too. a bit gimmicky but I like it: whiffing a dive kick in front of a j.HP-happy dhalsim is sometimes useful cus you can then snuff his j.HP with a cr.MP, then you’re in and ggpo. you only need to hit that crazy indian like 6 times and he goes to sleep
I have to disagree with the dude who said bison is a worse match for ru than blanka; st.HK shuts rufus down from a certain range don’t get me wrong but once you’re inside sweep range you can rtsd all day and you def. don’t have to be as tentative as you do w/blanka. tentativeness just isn’t the fat man’s suit
I agree that Bison is not even close to a difficult match-up as Blanka (who imo is the 2nd worst next to Sagat) mainly due to Bison’s lack of anti-air. Getting in is not as difficult either because I feel that Bison’s sweep etc is easier seen coming than a blanka ball.
