Hey guys I was wondering how to efectively apply pressure in the corner with characters that have either uppercuts or teleport, thanks in advanced
I believe that on block the dive kick is not 100% safe. If your opponent blocks the dive kick and you try to go into a st.lk they can mash out a dp or invincible reversal. On hit you just have to tighten up your links so they can’t mash through anything.
Also depending on how high you hit them with the dive kick even on hit I believe you are still susceptible to a mashed reversal.
If you see them mashing dp after your dive kicks, just dive kick and block, then punish the dp. After a few times you should train them not to mash, then you can proceed with mixups.
This is the advice i was looking for, this has helped alot. Thanks!
It’s because on block, even if you hit them low/deep where it would normally combo, it’s a link and links are dpable in sf4.
What is the input commands for HP cancel to galactic tornado? Is there a shortcut or easier way to do it. I seem to get it like 50% of the time.
It’s really not that hard. Just do HP and immediately qcf+HP. If you know any other cancels such as Ryu’s cr.mk XX fireball, this should be just as easy. What you could try to do is: (stick in neutral position) press and hold HP and then quickly qcf+let go of HP.
Question pertaining to dive kick execution!
Watching random vids of pros and casuals and whatnot. Players can execute dive kicks on like a short hop so to say? I’m having trouble doing it on my TE stick and it’s more so too fast where i do jump at all, or I’m performing a full jump.
Any tips to making this easier? I know it’s vital to Rufus gameplay and I’m like telegraphing when I’m going to dive.
Its pretty simple, just hold up, once rufus’ feet leave the ground press down and mk. It’s not all that fast compared to other characters’ moves. It is exactly what it looks like. My only advice is to try doing regular dive kicks, and slowly decrease the height at which you do them, until you are doing them barely off the ground.
If you’re ‘telegraphing’ dive kicks you’re being too predictable. Mix it up!
I have a question: Does anyone have some Rufus counter-hit setups they’d like to share?
I like to do down forward and mk (roll kick) to gain ground and possibly get a counter hit. If you get a counter hit you can link into c.lp or c.lk. I think I read you can also cancel into standing lk so you get a free target combo. Of course the c.lp or c.lk can be canceled into a LP galactic tornado, EX galactic tornado or EX messiah. Also many times you will get a counter hit on people trying to mash out pokes out of a dive kick s.lk s.hp blockstring. In which case it makes the link between s.lk s.hp way easier to hit and does more damage (i think).
after counter hit roll you can also link std.HP xx HP tornado for good damage
Hey what does rufus say when he does his ex galactic tornado
Thanks for the help guys.
How about frame traps for counter-hits?
I’m pretty sure s.lk puts you at a frame advantage so if the opponent tries to mash out a normal or vulnerable special you get a counter-hit for the follow up s.hp. Makes the link a lot easier. I’m not sure if that’s what you mean though.
Hey guys,
I have a bit of a problem with people who go for a lvl 3 focus attack when I’m knocked down with no meter (so no ex messiah).
What can I do to get out of this situation?
Jump or Ultra
Back dashing is definitely your best option. Good for dodging meaty pokes and throws as well. By meaty I mean attacks on wake up. Jumping won’t work because you will get hit. Ultra will work too, but make sure your opponent is going for a level 3 focus attack before you ultra, because he could just start a focus attack then back dash to bait out an ultra from you.
I’ve tried jumping but sometimes you get hit during your jump away but you fly across the screen (which probably would be better than being the same position again if you took the hit).
Oh, never thought of back dashing and using the invincibility frames. Thanks.
It sounds like “brothers smart”. Complete guess though.
