No, that’s horribly wrong.
The supporting cast has customisation in regards to how to upgrade their equipment in one of 2 ways:
- THey will see that the hero has an item they want that the hero is not equipping, and will ask for it. This includes purchased items from the shop.
- They will occassionally ask for items when loot drops in the game. This goes to upgrading their equipment.
In addition to that, you can upgrade them to go for a physical focus, a magic focus, or a balanced focus (they will ask for your advice). Furthermore, they will ask to learn new skills if they should or not, and this will in turn dictate what class they are, which will then dictate the kind of actions they are likely to do.
As for me, I like it. The battles are a bit too frequent in terms of critter encounters though (I mean weaklings), however the huge battles are awesome.
There’s also tons of quests to do, tons of characters to find, tons of formations for your unions, etc. If you want gameplay heavy, TLR delivers.
The story is okay, probably the weakest part of the game. It can be abrupt in its presentation of the story at times, which hurts it.
One thing to note is that you can play it however you wish, and by that I mean you can play it like a linear RPG, so you just play the main story segments which probably won’t take too long (average RPG length) or you can do all the sidequests, which lead to other sidequests, which will flesh out characters and the world, and you will be much more powerful and well equipped to handle the more dangerous threats that are present in the sidequest, as well as the “ultimate” final boss should you fulfill the conditions to get him.
EDIT: I don’t like CC. To be fair, I don’t like CT either. CC iirc was waaay too easy overall, so not much motivation to play.
And I found Soul Nomad interesting, more interesting than the other N1 games, mostly due to how your characters were actually a bunch of characters put into formations (this is like the Unions of The Last Remnant). However, I still don’t like it enough to recommend it. Just not that interesting to me. I didn’t like the other N1 games though, except for Prinny Can I Be THe Hero because that game has some imaginative level design.
