I picked this team up like a week ago because I’m hate playing storm. Also its also better defensively than MSP but, I have some questions.
1, How the do you zone out magneto with cable& sent. My cable/sent mostly cable always gets owned by magneto as soon as the match starts.
2, Whats the timing with Magslk+sent prog assist I miss it allot in matches. I would do a trijump hk then dash lk+sent assist ,lk and it mostly wont combo. Im also having a hard time getting the dash after sents rocket punch hits I’m always getting a hp. This is making me to lose allot of matches because I’m finding it hard to hit with mag since now I don’t have psy assist anymore.
3, My sent keeps getting caught in hypergrav tempest/ hail storm when I’m in flight mode how does this happen. Like when there about to super or I see the hypergrav I deactivate flying and I still end up getting caught is there a trick to cancel sents fly mode in order to block those kind of supers?
Thanks ill that out as soon as I get the chance to play. Also does anyone know how to do this cable guard break http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RZwucvSYo8 from 3:42-348? When I try this guard break the grenade hits but it doesn’t look like the grenade is hitting high enough and also the j.hp misses. Also whats unfly I hear you get it from being hit by a special that doesn’t knock you down or something.
unfly, simple: you get hit by any attack that doesn’t put you on your back and you get 4 or 5 (yes, it’s random) unflys. What unfly mode is, is a mode where you can do an action AFTER you cancel your fly. Normally you cannot.
How do you lose unfly? 1. Normal jump 2. Tech a throw, 3. use it 4 or 5 times.
How can you get unfly back without taking another hit? In flight mode, hit lk, hpxxunfly, and it doesn’t count towards your 4 or 5 unflies. That’s how you see infinites come with that.
It’s kinda of hard to zone out Magneto with Cable without an AAA (Anti-air assist), like Cap.Com, Cyclops, Psylocke, etc. What I usually do is the typical jump back shoot, land, shoot, Scmitar (if they jump or tri-jump), jump back, plasma grenade (if they super jump above me), viper beam with Cable and just use Sentinel as bait, like get a pattern down with him that’ll always lead to a AHVB (Air hyper viper beam). Also, why are you starting Cable first? You should either start Magneto or Sentinel and keep Cable in the middle, that’s what I usually do.
You have to press ‘Lk+Sent assist, Mk’ in order for it to combo, it’s really easy to achieve. As far as when RP (Rocket Punch) connects, all you gotta do is just dash forward with either the stick or two punch buttons and super jump right into the ROM. That’s like the easiest way to get them into a ROM and a snap-back.
Just as mentioned before, you’re not in unfly mode.
Also, RowTron is a tough team, does a good deal of damage and has a good AAA with Cable, solid team. Hopefully my input helped you out in some sort of way.
Thanks this info helped allot. Ya I know it’s a bad idea to start cable because he’s not a threat until he has at least 3 levels so, I guess ill start sent and put mag third since I just found out mags assist can be used as an un-blockable for sent and cable needs mag assist to lock down.
Yeah, Cable isn’t really a threat unless he had 2+ meters. Most of the time I start Sentinel first cause he can pretty control space and zone really good with either Cable or Magneto assists. Yeah it’s super easy to do an unblockable with Cable using Magneto assist:
Cable:
Just as the character is about to come in, can be done pretty much anywhere in the game:
Either jump back or forward hp, Mag assist, plasma grenade, land, AVHB. (They should be able to block the hp, get hit with Mag assist, plasma grenade hits and should hold for a second, land, AVHB)
Sentinel:
d.hp+Mag assist, hp.Rocket Punch xxx HSF (This tends to be a bit tricky, you gotta time this just right for it to be pulled off)
d.hp, lp or hp.Rocket Punch xxx HSF (Another tricky one done in the corner right after a dizzy, roll, etc)
Jump forward, hp xxx FF–> lk, mk, dp.Rocket Punch (Usually done in the corner)
There’s just a few for Cable and Sentinel, Magneto has tons! Anyway, what character do you feel the most comfortable with? You should also try and learn how to play with each character with and without and assist.
Thanks for this info. I never knew you could guard break with cable using mags assist. I feel most comfortable with magneto and ya I’ll definitely try learning how to play these chars without assist. I dropped Msp for Row because msp was teaching me too many bad habits. I was also trigger happy with my psy assist. I guess if I learn how to rushdown with mag on row my mag will be better overall because I wouldn’t need to depend on psy assist for everything.
When the opponent is above me you said to use viper beam which version? and is tk hp viper beam safe?
Most folks who play MSP tend to mash/spam lk and Psylocke AAA, like they rely on it WAY to much to play.
When using Cable and your opponent is above you - you’d want to use plasma grenades and schimitar. Like as soon as you see them super jump, air dash, jump towards you - you want to use either of those moves. If you’re in the air use the plasma grenades and use schimitar on the ground, gotta anticipate Mag’s movement.
Tk HVB is just as safe as AHVB IMO, just gotta time it right to pull it off. I think it’s just how comfortable you are with using either method. I know for some reason when I’m on 1P side I can just simply do AHVB with no problems and have somewhat trouble doing tk HVB. On the 2P side I can do tk HVB all day long but I have trouble doing AHVB, weird huh? As long as I’ve been playing the game I still have trouble doing simple stuff. Lol.
I think Rowtron counters MSP, but I may be wrong. The order that you’re using is what I’d use, pretty much my main order. MSP ain’t nothing but a rush team. So any team thats based around zoning should have the advantage.
I think Cable’s AAA beats Psylocke’s AAA, but I could be wrong. Anyway, you pretty much gotta zone out MSP. What I do is try and lock them down with Sentinel’s: [d.hp xxx fly, unfly, land] repeat in bracket, you know the laser lock down. If they get close or jump, I call Cable or try and catch them with a fast-fly combo, they can’t block while they’re air-dashing.
If they’re far away use Magneto assist to help lock them down. Magneto’s projectile assist is pretty good, can be used as a unblockable too.
Go in practice mode and teach yourself how to do the laser lock down and Sentinel’s ‘bread-and-butter’ fast-fly combos. If you don’t know how to do any of his FF combos, you pretty much can’t use Sentinel properly.
Sentinel/Cable/Magneto is a lot worse than Magneto/Cable/Sentinel. You really should try to avoid that order. The only case where that order is “doable” is against another team that starts Magneto. But it’s still not an optimum choice. Santhrax/Matrix have difficulty keeping Magneto out with superior antiairs for Sentinel (Capcom/Cyclops). Trying to play at high levels with Cable as your antiair*** while in your second slot*** is not going to work. Sentinel generally needs meter to play well, and he builds slower than Magneto. You’re better off starting Magneto first.
ROW vs MSP is like 5-5. If MSP lands an early hit, then it’s greatly in MSP’s favor. 7-3. Otherwise, if ROW is able to runaway and build like 3 meters ROW gets an advantage. It’s not like vs Santhrax/Matrix where they get 2 meters and you’re screwed so it’s more like 6-4. But since it’s so easy to runaway Mags vs Mags it’s more like 7-3 because of how easy it is to run when you factor that bit in. But the match is really 5-5 and determined by who gets the first real hit.
If you’re a sloppy player and can’t execute and need 2 resets to kill a player than this information is not for you. In that case, ROW wins MSP 7-3.
Modern day Cable can easily do over 50% with one meter. Cable is a bad ass even with 1 meter.
I would hesitate to call this a workable guard break (if at all). If you’re really delaying that much that they could block then fall into Magneto’s assist, it’s escapable by both taking the hit, and by push blocking. They could they fly out, super out, whatever. I’m pretty sure that you can just hold back and block the entire chain and you wouldn’t get guard broken (unless you’re like Cyclops and have a guard stiffness of 3).

Just make sure you keep Magneto off of you until you get the chance to run away from him. Build that meter, and bait Psylocke out. Row is a hard team to use, but it’s one of the best teams. I don’t know why Justin stopped using it.
Magneto always starts off on a disadvantage. You must land some kind of mixup/solid hit/snap or you will be behind. Jwong plays best when he runs away slowly and protects a lead which is not Magneto playstyle.
Cable in second slot is a poor AA position, no meter for comeback xecutioner style.
