Exactly. That counter poke made me feel sick. God that match is just horrible from head to toe. I can’t believe how basic my Rose was at that time.
lol.
Adon’s just another El Fuerte to me, not solid :(.
I use shoto’s too to be fair but I reeeally hate ken when using rose :arazz:.
hard - mbison, ken, makoto, dudley
easy - blanka, twins, juri, seth, chunli, cammy
And again I say, then clearly I’m doing something very wrong. I don’t see how Rose wins the fireball war. I’ve always found it to be a dead-even draw. If a Guile knows how to vary his sonic booms, it’s all too easy for Rose to make one mistake and eat a boom or two. Once a Guile gets the life lead on me, I find it’s all too easy for him to play lame. Rose has no good way to get in on Guile, and Guile can match Rose’s fireball game.
Maybe I just need practice against Guile–and to any Guile on the PC, feel free to PM me about getting together for practice–but I very frequently lose to Guile, and I can’t see any clear advantage Rose has over him, certainly not enough to qualify him as one of Rose’s easiest matchups.
I’d say Rose’s hardest matchups are Bison, Guile, Cody, and Ken.
Easiest are T. Hawk, Guy, Adon, and Balrog
Guile is probably the only match up where Rose flat out wins.
Balrog wat?
dem 2.5f jabs be hitting me out of everything.
cross up alot, option select spiral on crossup, after untechable, meaty light jab, into option select sweep.
@guile
you have to basically buffer all day at full screen against guile. If you can get a knockdown, go for a crossup and get him to block right away. That kills his down and back charge and that’s when you frame trap him. If that fails, back up and play the neutral game. Like everyone said before, you have to be able to beat guile at the neutral full screen fireball war to win.
I really think guile is the only matchup truly in rose’s favor, outside of characters that are in shit tier w/ her like guy, hawk, hakan, dudley, dan, etc. There are a couple of arguable ones that I won’t get into( IMO you can argue sakura’s, gief’s, sagat’s, juri’s, chun’s, etc case.)
@balorg
what majin said. I basically crossup balrog all day. Stand forward -> slide is my favorite anti-rog technology. That and spacing yourself at the edge of his dash punch range. Bait it out. Once you do, back up into st. rh. Or any sort of whiff punish. If that’s kind of hard for you, you can instead reaction slide or block and jab spiral. But the jab spiral punish is range specific or it can only be done if rog combos into the dash punch.
by far the hardest matchup is Failong and Yun. by far. (havent played against Yang so i cant comment)
the rest i can manage even if they are not in my favor. like Balrog and Akuma.
i like playing Fei-Longs, just to soul throw them out of chicken wings
Dive kick characters are the worst for me. Both Yun and Yang are ridiculous to deal with. Rufus isn’t so bad because his hitbox is a bit bigger and Super Cammy was an atrocity. She’s a bit easier to deal with in AE though.
Bison matchup is difficult, but once you understand it, it’s not as bad. Rose has options.
I have too much trouble with the Ken matchup. Those step kick setups owns me for free.
My most fun matches would have to be Cody, Sagat, Ryu and Gouken.
Hardest: Twins, Fei, Akuma, Gief, Cammy, Rufus, Honda, Dictator, Chun
Easiest: Abel, … cant find other easy mtup. I think most her mtup are 6/4 in her defavor.
I agree with your hardest except Chun and Honda and MAYBE Gief, but he’s hard too.
But she definitely beats the likes of Guy, Guile, and Makoto (definitely Makoto, I think that’s her match up because she has so many tools to out-do makoto lol).
I think Chun’s mtup get rly hard once she have u1, you can’t throw fb/reflect her fb.
Honda coz clp/st hp are hell, he can outpoke you with those 2.
Gief got hard since AE with the wtf LP SPD Range + no more u2 for us, he can punish every spiral now :\ we have to beat him only with poke while he can just get a lp spd in and it’s 50/50 on his favor.
The Chun match up isn’t reliant on fireballs though; it’s an even 1v1 footsie battle; since she has pokes that beat you and you have pokes that beat her and there’s a specific range that the match should be played.
Honda isn’t a poking match, it’s about how well you know your ranges so you can just crouch and make him fear jumping or walking forward and throw fireballs while you’re at it.
Gief IMO got easier because he lost EX Green Hand knockdown. The LP SPD range doesn’t really make a big different for Rose. But EX Green Hand -> U2 is a fair mixup and that is hard to get around for Rose.
I honestly think Rose/Makoto is even until Makoto scores a knockdown. Then Rose is stuck guessing really badly and all that even matchup goes out the window.
Rose beats Makoto on the ground lol.
Rose beats Makoto because Makoto can’t really keep the pressure and Rose can actually keep the pressure fairly safely against Makoto.
Makoto can’t keep pressure? what?
score a knockdown, eat a meaty s.MP that you have to block, guess.
score a knockdown, guess.
Once makoto gets a hold of Rose or even gets in Rose’s face and scores any type of knockdown, it’s trouble.
You can’t keep pressure if you can’t get in, and it’s fairly easy to guess out of Makoto’s options.
Rose outdoes Makoto.
Rose makoto is like 7-3 on the ground and 3-7 in oki situations. Rose does come out on top though IMO. Her ground game is too good, more so the range on her normals. And plus, EX ST works in a lot more situations and is actually an advantage over EX DP in this matchup.
