Rose Strategies and Match-ups

Good shit Luffster!!! My man.

Your countrymen are poor lost souls. Abandon them as they will drag you down to hell with them in their ignorance.

Congrats Luffy, that is excellent! :china:

Maybe Metro can drop some more “knowledge” on you and you’ll dominate your next tourney even harder. :shake:

well deserved congrats luffy :wow:

Hehe thanks everyone, our Rose will be even harder to beat in SSF4 :D.

Finals and some other rounds are up on my youtube channel!

Congratz Luffy on the big win. Hopefully i can play the you again s the new champ of france or at least Bushido 10.

Lol no matter what country SF tournaments all sound the same OOOOhhhh!!! Clap!Clap!Clap! OOOOhhhh!!! Clap!Clap!Clap!(the oh’s do have different accent but u get what im sayin) with the one Jackass shouting out boo.

No I wasn’t :wgrin: Just 90% of Sagats only play him because he has top-tier potential, and think that means auto-win. But the game is honestly delicately balanced which is why I get so annoyed when people think of certain moves as useless. They have their place, depending on the situation, which is what I love about this game. Rose neutral jump short, instant overhead for the win? I’m all over that.

With Akuma’s vortex, it’s good, but it’s escapable. it’s far from an infinite combo. Just requires good observation and a willingness to take some damage to avoid the full brunt.

Well I’ll have to watch Luff’s videos to see if there are any places for improvement, but I don’t care to share advice to anyone if it falls on deaf ears.

I dunno, there’s a lot more emotive whistling in those videos than any US tournament I’ve attended/watched.

Awesome job, Luffy.

srk 2009 award winner for most true statement :coffee:. awesome information. i’d like to see your results.

anyway. some food for thought… if there was guard break in sf4 like prior sf games. rose would be even worse than she is now without a doubt. cant block forever.

seth must be reading my mind.

Guard Crash/Break in SF4 is dumb. It’s dumb in A3 and it would be twice as dumb in Super4…

…just my opinion.

Yes Metro, make him better please!

BTW Luffy, i saw you used some safe jump ins against Alioune.

it seems EX Spiral after her cr LP, cr LP, cr LK, cr MP combo set him for a safe jump in with j MK.

i know you can back throw, slight step forward, jump in cross up (you also did it in that match).

do you (all) know more safe jump in/cross up set ups against Sagat?

hmm nop, idk setup for safejump, i just do it on feeling.

btw, i just got a xbox, feel free to add me! Luffy086

Just made some matches with Alioune, got owned 14 1 lol. His zoning is monstruously good.

ok mate! I suck at mirror matches though (well, i overall suck!! :razzy: ).

Alioune is a monster, i agree

Oh, my xbox gamertag is Louffy086, i chose Luffy086 on PC, i couldnt take the same one dunno why –

I don’t have SF4 for PC, but I think it runs off of LIVE for Windows? If it does, you should have been able to just transfer your GT to your 360 with nothin more than picking and paying for the 360LIVE service.

I know if you have a 360 and you go to PC, all you have to do is apply with that GT and PC LIVE will adjust for it.

…anyways might have to hit you up for some matches.

Any tips vs chun? All of her pokes seem to out prioritize roses pokes especially her sweep. I don’t have a lot of exp in the matchup and some tips would be handy for a mm i’m having.

I would like to know why roses matchup is 4-6 in chubs favour and what she can and can’t do.

Also standing mp beats all if sagats pokes. Especially standing short.

s.cl.mk + mp reflect

Does anyone use s.cl.mk + mp reflect as a zoning tool? it combos if you land it and even if you don’t, I think it does a good bit of pushback (can’t get to game atm).

On the same note, there are some character specific shenanigans with reflects and focus attacks that people haven’t yet exploited in their unique combo videos.

It’s really difficult for Chun to get in once you get Ultra, her floaty jump is easily punished with c.fp and both slide and ST. Her Kikouken will lose to SS and Reflect.

Mostly the reason why the match up is 4-6 is because Chun has just a lot more tools, and we all know what happens when Rose is knocked down, Chun has just great mix up, and Rose can’t really do much except cross up or throw.
