Yeah, Kail. That shit blew my mind, too. For years, I was trapped blocking the double sweep. Now, I beat that shit up all day. Eventually, they will go for the double sweep. It never fails.

You should be trying to keep him as far away as possible anyway, but if he does get in and you don’t have meter just back dash if you think he’s going to attempt it. The bad side with a back dash is if you guess wrong and he does a head butt your going to eat it.
Try backdashing. You can prolly punish with Soul Piede, at the very least.
I heard sc.mk can beat throw moves, but you have to be close enough, and I’ve never personally done this. however I have trouble with those grapple moves anyway. backdashing, along with jumping, is very fickle. online is cursed.

Close standing MK: Cannot be thrown during the first 20 frames.
Sometimes I’ll crossup into sc.MK if the crossup is too early, especially against Abel so he can’t counter TT me. Makes 'em think twice about just trying to throw, which sets up further combos.

Thats the thing, I backdash a lot. Especially against Blanka and Honda this causes me major grief because you are open to their usual specials.
I read before that headbut can be punished with piede, but I’m unsure. Is there a safe version for him? Sometimes it works, sometimes it doenst. I’ll test in training 
S MK is really good against Abel overall. I do it all the time when he rolls. Sort of panic button, but it works as of now
It’s a mixup, of course. Backdash doesn’t beat everything, but against certain characters you need it to escape command throws.
Also, Rose can only punish HP Headbutt, and only with Soul Piede.
I hate Rufus, got owned by a good Rufus player.
Average Rufus players don’t give me too much grief. I can usually keep them away and control space well.
Good Rufus players on me like a rash. Can’t outpoke him point blank. Any tips?
Assuming he uses a lot of dive kicks, incorporate soul throw (EX or HP since it’s better to go too far than not far enough), and slide into your game more (escape dive kick, under messiah kick and the aerial follow ups, under the snake strike). I tend to use more focusing this match up than others simply because you can’t help but have Rufus in your face, so it’s a good way of punishing him for being there.
Cheers, but I know I can fluke a Ex Soul throw if I can anticipate a Dive kick. Doesn’t neutral Jump dive kick beat slide?
I’ve been FC Dashing out of there when I can only to get tagged into a combo into ultra.
I wanna know what I can outpoke him with on the ground. LP? Cr MP? and when he’s open.
I guess it has alot to with the other guys playstyle.
yeah I wasn’t trying to say slide is absolutely safe, but it’s definitely useful given the proper set ups. just play around with it and you’ll see.
I wanna say s.mk and c.mp beat a lot of pokes in general and can imagine them working equally as well vs Rufus.
Also when it comes to focus, you should try hitting him with it rather than backdash out, because if you hit him with it, you can go in for more hits (pending), or have a safer backdash if he blocks.
I have noticed that on a blocked jump in just do a clp. clp. block string and wait to punish… it’s insane how many asshats in g2 try to rub out srk during auto block strings… if you have super tack that on the end of the combo of your choosing.
If it’s cammy and you have ultra that bitch is eating a lot of damage… any srk for that matter… it’s just fun to hit Cammy’s because a lot of them think cannon spike is safe :).
It’s just people realizing what can be abused in the game when others are unaware. can’t really blame them… but when you realize what they’re doing… yes they’re asshats. FP/K combos for the win.
I stuffed a Chun’s Ultra point blank with slide today. I can’t remember if I knew that worked or not but fuck it felt good.
In other news: Abel is a weird matchup for Rose. I’m pretty comfortable against Sagats now but Ryus are still kinda iffy and I hate getting outpoked by Chuns.
Today was the first time I’ve played matches in 10 days and I won a G2 tourney against people all ranked higher than me, including 2 Sagats (and a Rose and Abel 
). I still can’t hit my BnB links for shit online but progress is being made.
