Rose SSFIV 2012: Apology Edition Changes

We get it cy. Your basically talking about Supers U2. A stupidly good ultra that “fixxed” roses issues. But the developers nerfed it. They nerfed fuertes.

I would be ok with worthless ultras if Rose w/o it was amazing. But she isn’t and they aren’t going to buff everything. Buffing/changing an Ultra to is a Band-aid and we have claimed it as such.

Now would we love U2 back? Hell yeah. Does it really fix the issues? No, and I think most would prefer Rose could work w/o U2.

I would compare U2 to something like super glue.

It fixes a problem temporarily, but sometimes, it can still break :/.

band-aids may heal your scar, but super glue simply is a quick fix, not a permanent fix.

Anyone else have hope now that they’re going to do a Beta location test and they’re talking about AE 2012 coming out at the end of the year meaning that more changes are in the works? Heaven forbid, Capcom would actually listen to any number of the well thought out ideas my fellow Scarf Reppin’ friends have recommended…

Haha, knowing Capcom they will check out the beta locations and take away cl. mk throw immunity because it is too powerful. Or perhaps nerf slide’s range lmao

With capcom it seems impossible to guess. They take out the highly abusable stuff, but don’t seem to get at the real problem.

Part of this I think is that they aren’t use to updating. They do entire new games usually. While developers like Blizzard and Riot try to address the root problem for a class or champion. They of course update every few months (or in the case of riot, every two weeks O.o). While not perfect, I actually like continual updating as it does help to keep the game fresh and moving. But that is a another conversation on business models and stuff.

My hope is that those are just the most recent notes on the blog and not just “these are the changes, enjoy the preview location test.”

Now if what was said about it being out at the end of the year, that is months away for possible changes. I hold out some hope that Rose won’t be left behind this time. If so, I can move on (or rather try too) or just stick it out. It isn’t like I plan to win Evo.

On the real though.

I’m sure those aren’t the only Rose changes; I mean they found changes to Guy and stuff.

There just has not been any Rose players that tested anything out yet :?

I always thought it would be cool if Rose’s Ex Drill had Super Armor. After reading all the posts i know everyone feels the pain of being stopped by just a regular. Or an Ex Soul Throw Super Armor? I get tired of being hit or thrown out of moves i see and hear come out.
IMO Its all wishful thinking because truthfully i don’t think Capcom likes Rose. or at least they dont know what to do with her.

you know…capcom would’ve been better off balancing the game according to the % of win and lose each japanese players have at the arcades. This could’ve give them an idea of who to buff and nerf >_>

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Chun-Li’s U1 and Rose’s U1. Yes, Chun’s travels further, but she also moves to the other side of the screen while Rose remains stationary, making it almost impossible to use as an anti-air. Also, if Chun’s U1 is blocked, she is not safe at all. Blocking Rose’s U1 from max distance leaves her safe against certain characters in certain instances.

Plus don’t forget the chip damage of Chun-Li’s U1 while Rose’s U1 has none.

Yeah, I forgot to mention chip and zero trade! The opponent should take at least some damage from being whipped by her scarf. With so many differences, it’s hard to compare one ultra to another. Or even one special to another (unless you are comparing Ryu’s srk to Ken’s -_-).

you can’t really compare chun u1 to rose u1, but in terms of just punishment utility it’s clear that one is way better than the other:

rose u1 hits 3/4screen in 17 frames (0+12+5 to extend the scarf)
chun hits 3/4screen in 7 (0+7)

chun will get many, many more opportunities to hit her ultra than rose just because there are many moves that are -7f on block, and not nearly as many that leave you at -12f (-17f at range)

more like “what Rose player in Japan is going to bother testing Rose?”

Don’t forget that Chun’s U1 has way more invincibility frames against fireballs as opposed to Rose’s shitty near exsisting invincibility frames.

Real talk, Hakan is much more intriguing.

I think I saw like…2 matches in the alpha test ? But if Capcom decides to reveal more changes on Rose more people will try her out…and by changes I’m not talking about giving 1 more frame advantage on something >_>

I think that you have an definition problem.
you want to say: "if they decrease the startup, then it would make sense to make the damage lower"
If you decreased the start up, then the ultra is faster.
if you increased the start up, then the ultra is slower.

you’re saying to want a slower, less damaging ultra.

Yea that was a mistake, I actually meant to say decrease start up.

beware the hidden nerfs. blog says close mk is buffed +4 on hit. hidden nerf could be MORE push back.

its speculation. they did this to cammy close hp. not only they nerfed damage on close hp but added more push back to the move (AE)

I would also gladly sacrifice some damage if U1’s start up is decreased and I would be able to combo into it after landing (for instance) HP Reflect.

I say keep the damage, reduce the startup, and make it possible to get off in a juggle. If others can be more flexible with their ultras and already have things going for them outside of that, then Rose doesn’t need a damage nerf in a ultra that already doesn’t work as a bait/AA/fireball punisher.

but this clearly isn’t going to happen. I’m pretty much done trying to discuss dream buffs that capcom will ignore even if it’s on unity for this character.
