All those hits make it a lot weaker though. They do work, but as a Rose player you MUST maximize damage on EVERY opprotunity you have to deal it…
Wait… But it does more damage and more stun.
It also is a longer string which is always better
Does more damage than what? Combos that don’t start with a j.HK? well yeah.
And part of what defines a bnb is how easy/likely it is to get out. Example: It took me more time to clear Rose’s hard trial 1 than all of Akumas.
The best combo isn’t the combo that does the most damage/most stun, it’s the combo that you can actually hit people with that also happens to do decent damage.
^^^^ This…
And also one where you dont have to worry too much about getting mashed reversaled if you mistime it or it’s not properly spaced.
This.
I was stuck on Rose’s hard trial 1 for weeks. I finally got it and eventually hit all of her trials and got the blockhead, but it was really hard and I still can’t use most of those combos in a match.
Nice to know I wasn’t the only one stuck on that… I still can’t do Vipers’ trials, El Fuerte’s or Rufus’ last trial. In fact, there’s still a bunch I can’t do. Bah I say!
Rose’s first hard trial is still the most difficult for me, it should have been the last instead of the first one.
they just should’ve made all the jabs cancellable. I’d actually use that combo if that were the case.
The other one that had me pulling my hair out (I gave up a while ago) is Abel’s 5th hard trial.
Ugh that shit is nasty.
It’s tough, but not as tough as vipers last one. That was a bitch.
No I give the duke to blankas last one. Took me 2 straight hours. Vipers just too hard practice
I can seriously hit combo 1 in a match 95% of the time.
I just choose not to, it is not strong enough. I much prefer c lk clp clk cmp EX Soul Spark/ lp spiral.
works on most characters :].
But, with rose, I generally stick to c. mp spiral :]
Knew it but hearing the old CvS Geese and Akuma tracks was worth the watch.
I’m new to this thread so please excuse me if it has already been said:
I found a good way to combo into ultra mid screen.
I was wondering why Rose’s mid screen back throw was different from the one when your opponent is in the corner (it throws him further away). I found a possible reason: a set up for this combo: j.hk, cr.mk, EX Spark, FADC dash in to ultra…
When the opponent is in the corner: back throw, then you do a very little step forward and jump in (then combo). Mid screen: back throw, back dash, the same very little step forward and jump in.
I hope it can help you guys !
EDIT: I forgot: the reason is you cannot back dash to have the perfect spacing after back throwing a cornered opponent. Hope I’m clear enough.
Sanjo, did you test this vs ALL characters. I am able to hit c mk, ex spark, fadc, ultra on SOME characters with proper spacing. The spacing is very tough on say…ryu, or dan…but against Sagat…its cake.
Actually, I tried it only vs Ryu. I’m going to test it vs all.
This is not a good idea generally speaking because if you jump in on a character that has a reversal you will end up eating it instead of your j.hk landing and you will be the one getting combo’d. For example Ryu, Ken, Sagat…ect. or any character that has a reliable reversal. And even those that don’t have a reversal, they can just block your j.hk.
You are absolutely right about that. It was just for information. IMO, Rose’s ultra should only be used as a punisher and to put pressure on your opponents. It’s wonderful how they can get petrified once you have the meter. :razzy:
I still don’t believe Rose’s ultra is that great. It gets beat by so many moves in the air, can be blocked.
It doesn’t do that much.
I’d much rather have a comboable ultra then a pressure ultra.
